Fournier’s got great physical tools but below average touch around the rim. Definitely a player who relied on her athleticism prior to college (as many do).

Duke is in trouble. Okananwa was pretty clearly their best player. Nothing wrong with a few early losses, but if you’re a team with Final Four aspirations, are Baylor and West Virginia teams you should lose to?
Something's off with Fournier as well from what I've observed. There's no way she should have had 4 shot attempts by the third and she wasn't making herself known during the game. Sophomore slump, just athletic, who knows at this point?

How about Betts' line? 20 pts/10 reb/7 assists. I don't think her play making gets talked about, but obviously she can pass the ball.

Also second really solid game in a row for Dugalic coming off the bench.
The fact that UCLA has beaten two top 15 teams without Gardiner and the younger Betts shows how deep and good they are and will be.

It's going to be hard to rattle them I'd think, starting 5 seniors, including three (Betts/Rice/Jaquez) who have played together for three years. Kneepkens seems like a perfect fit in their lineup (And I feel like I was somehow an under the radar transfer addition) and Leger-Walker is 6th year player with a ton of experience. They don't scream athleticism, but they are talented, balanced, deep, and heady. Agree that thus far, they seem like a clear #2 team.

I had mixed feelings since it came down to South Carolina and UCLA, but it was anything but under the radar from my vantage point. Probably the only "plus" is that Tessa will have more room to shine without Kneepkens on the roster, but dang, we could use that depth right now.

Curious to see if Swords and Howell have returned from the Canada Basketball training camp in time for these games today.

Hadn't thought of that. Ladine hasn't played yet for UW. Hopefully they will have both Ladine and Howell today, they need them as they go on the road for the first time and also play a team with a pulse for the first time.

.-.
Illinois loses on the road to Oregon State. Stanford ekes out a victory at WSU. Baylor had to wake up late in the fourth quarter to get past UNLV. And we all know what happened with Duke at WV. This is going to be an interesting, fun, and somewhat unpredictable year.
I watched some of that Stanford game. Pretty ugly. I was shocked when I heard the announcers talking about one of the Washington St. players who is only 16 years old. Malvina Haziri from Kosovo. Will turn 17 at the end of December. I'm not sure how that came to be.

Just saw team pictures getting off the plane in SLC. I think I see Howell. I definitely see Ladine, and injured players usually don't travel, so that's a good sign. Elle was day to day and we've been hoping they were just being conservative holding her out of the first 2 games because they didn't really need her.

Is too soon to bring this back into my GIF rotation? I'm here for all the chaos. 😉

On the subject of age: I'm watching the Kentucky-Marshall game, and apparently Clara Strack is only 19 as a junior.

So...apparently if I watch a game, nobody can shoot. Stanford-Wazzu last night was brutal. Kentucky-Marshall today was pretty bad. I switched to Virginia Tech-Coastal Carolina for the second half, you guessed it, nobody can score. How do I do it?

.-.
They’ll lose to SC but beat LSU. Duke prob won’t finish top 3 in ACC in current form

You must really hate LSU and Mulkey. Duke is still athletic that most ACCs teams and many of the them either have trouble scoring too or they can't defend.

Okay, maybe it was more a case of one really bad quarter in some of these games. Especially VA Tech. By quarter they scored 30, 23, 4 and 25, so Q3 was a real anomaly.

First time watching Washington this year, not real impressed. Utah lost all 5 starters from last year, if Washington sees themselves as moving forward in the wcbb world, this is the kind of game you should be able to win without too much trouble. It's tied at halftime. And that's w/ Sellers putting up a Herculean effort. Getting very little help. Ladine is suited up but not playing.

Michigan up 46-29 at half against the Irish. ND’s offense looks pretty anemic.

Losing Miles, Westbeld and Citron is tough. (And Koval too) If Hidalgo is off it's hard to win.

.-.
Hmm. Washington won 72-61. Utah is a pale shadow of their former selves. Losing 5 starters will do that. UW was aggressive on D and got a bunch of steals and transition buckets. Half court O was pretty bad. Sellers scored 30, put the team on her shoulders. 8 assists on 31 made buckets seems like a red flag to me.

On one hand seeing Hannah shoot so many absurd shots is frustrating to watch. On the other, it's the position Ivey puts her in. Hannah has to create the offense and her teammates aren't hitting. I sound like a broken record every year, but Ivey's half court offense is so bad. It was bad last year by the end of the season when everyone could scout them. It's especially bad now that she doesn't have the same level of talent. It'll be interesting if all year is going to be Hannah-hero-ball.

Is Michigan this good or Notre Dame this bad. (or both). Anyway, this was a really bad nationally televised game.

.-.
Wow! 39 pt loss by the Irish. HH shoots 4/21 (0/8 from the arc) with 7 turnovers. As bad as that was, what struck me was ND’s lack of movement on offense and failure to get back on defense repeatedly.

I'd say both right now. Think this is the first game against a ranked team for both sides. They both have match ups against ranked teams later this month that will give us a better idea on both teams.

I think Michigan is good, but I also think Notre dame is not good. They will probably lose at least 10 games this season.

I'm a bit confused here. Prosper and Bransford both outscored Hidalgo in this game. And shot much more efficiently.

When majority of Michigan is focused on Hildago, that's going to be the end result. Hildago rarely had a clean shot or path to the basket today. To me it seemed like they were all in on defending Hildago and okay with leaving the rest of the team open.
