Michigan lights up ND with 93 pts. Michigan looked good. ND not so much. ND shot 28% from the field, 9% from 3 and were out rebounded 59-28. Hildago had 12 pts. with 7 turnovers. Olivia Olson was relentless on D and scored 20 for the Wolverines. It’s going to be a long season for the Irish.

I'm a bit confused here. Prosper and Bransford both outscored Hidalgo in this game. And shot much more efficiently.
In case you didn't see the game and just saw the box score, Michigan was all over Hidalgo. It was a clinic on ball denial and defense on a string to really give her no options. I hope my UConn Huskies can do the same thing on her.. I am not going to lie, I found it completely entertaining.

You know what, fair point. Bransford and Prosper should've shot more. Bransford had a good first half and had some nice buckets. But her buckets came off one-on-one plays. This ND offense is just one-on-one. Prosper and Bransford can do that, but they more often drive into traffic and turn it over or have to pass out. Hannah is quick enough to get briefly open and at least take a shot. VDJ and Moore are the spot up shooters that haven't been able to hit. They couldn't run anything to get Cowles a single shot attempt. Sanchez had a 3, but just couldnt be in the game. She was getting torched on the glass and in transition.

I'm not sure how Ivey should use Prosper because she doesn't post up at the 4 position. And these teams are clogging the paint when she drives. She's doesn't have a mid range or 3 either. KK shows promise though, I wish they would post her up more. There's just no space and no movement on offense.

ND had some momentum in the 3rd when Hannah got a couple free throws and made 3 mid range shots in a row. 8-0 run to cut it to 16 lol. Then she just started chucking everything, and I knew she would. That's just poor coaching and poor offense by Ivey. I didn't think ND would win this game, but this was bad

I admit I wasn't watching the game. Just thought it looked like at least a couple of the ND players were hitting some shots.

I was watching another game with a PG taking over and there was pretty much no half court offense being run, but it had a different result. Sellers scored 30 for Washington, teammates weren't doing much although Stines had 14. Utah couldn't stop her so it worked, but there was very little ball movement, cutting, anything like that. What worked against a rebuilt Utes roster isn't going to work against better teams.

.-.
And in a game that was basically decided at half time, Hildago played 38 minutes, Bransford played 39 and Prosper played 34. Each of the starters had at least 3 fouls, so...don't the Golden Domers have a bench???
Other than Hidalgo, they don’t have a very good starting 5.

Wow. Michigan looked pretty darn good out there today against Notre Dame. I was not expecting Michigan to manhandle ND like that! Well done, Big Blue!!

Why was Swords for that matter? She didn't need to play 34 minutes today.
Not sure what Coach KBA was thinking on that one. Michigan does not need Swords playing anymore than 25 minutes a game. There is too much depth on Michigan's roster for that to happen.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Especially with how the bench was playing. Let them loose now and give them opportunities to get comfortable. Big 10 conference play is going to be a gauntlet this season. Better they learn from their mistakes now than during conference play.

Not really.

I'm honestly not that surprised. Notre Dame only has 4-5 players that are top 25 team material and two of them are recovering from injuries They have no quality depth this year.
Yeah I am not expecting a whole lot from Notre Dame this season, unless the players take a huge jump skil development wise. Hannah is going to be fine. The rest of the roster is a work in progress.

No. They have 10 scholarship players, one of whom is injured. 2 of the scholarship players are of questionable talent. That leaves 7. Those 7 all played extensively.

I dont like ND, but dont get why their minutes distribution is of such concern to non-fans.

Fairfield acquitted themselves decently against UNC. Got within 3 with 4:30 left in the 3rd, then things fell apart. UNC went on 24-6 run to blow it open. Stags closed it to an 82-68 loss.

I question when most every coach has their starters, especially their stars, playing 30+ minutes in games that are decided before the start of the third quarter. Now if it's because of lack of available, quality players, then I most likely am not aware of that fact because I don't follow other teams, just UConn. Thus my question about the Golden Domers' situation.

Leger-Walker has it going for UCLA today. She's tied her season high already in Q1.

Yes, it was an excellent game. Definitely recommend catching a replay if you can. Michigan showed heart and hustle the entire game. Their defense, rebounding and transition offense was very good as well. I think it's going to be a really rough year for Notre Dame as HH continues to see smother defense from ranked teams. As I'm watching the USC v South Carolina game, I think Michigan might be the most challenging game on UConn's schedule this year.

Kennedy Smith's offensive game is rough. Was looking forward to see how she would perform without Juju and the early returns are a struggle.

SC - SC not exactly a thing of beauty
Yeah it was not pretty . The real SC showed their youth out there tonight. They are a work in progress. I will give them some grace. The new SC did not impress but they are still a worthy opponent. Great win for them and Coach Staley.

I thought she had some really nice moves into tough midrange shots that she made. But I didn’t see the full game.

Seems fair to say at this point that this freshmen class isn’t as college-star ready as the last few. And that’s okay. It’s not the historical norm to have the caliber of freshmen we’ve had for a span of several years with Boston, Paige, Clark, Juju, Strong, and Hidalgo.

During one timeout I saw this expression on Hidalgo’s face. It looked like she was thinking; “This is gonna be a very long season!” Probably my imagination but she did not look happy! She’s incredibly talented though, perhaps this will turn out to be an opportunity to improve in different ways than simply winning. Maybe she’ll become a bit of a player/coach and help that team in ways that would not happen during a typical ND season. I like her and wish her the best.

NC State favored by 1.5 at home; TCU beat them by 3 in Fort Worth last year.

Louisville only favored by 2.5 at Clemson.

Florida State favored by 8.5 at home against Indiana... Seems like a big number?

You going to complain about Geno today? Strong played 33 mins and Azzi 32.
