They’ll lose to SC but beat LSU. Duke prob won’t finish top 3 in ACC in current formI’d drop the BDs out of the top 25 based on what I saw.
With upcoming games against SC and LSU, Duke could be 4-4 in a few weeks.
It doesn't matter who the ref was. TV got an excellent view of the WV bench emptying onto the court. Can anyone who was once affiliated with Tennessee teach actual offense?
BTW, Joe Vasziiy was one of the refs. WVU had 6 players ejected and only 5 left Good job by the Mountaineers to win under those bizarre circumstances.
I think Raviv will be fine. She's definitely improving. After playing in the Euro-basket championship she hasn't had a lot of practice time yet learning her teammates play and learning a new system. She will be the player they build around going forward so she will progress by leaps and bounds once things fall in to place. Miami's freshmen class also looking pretty good. Next few games should test them as they play neutral site games against Davidson, IOWA, GW, and OKLA.ST. followed by a home game against KY.Some musings from a couple of games I watched tonight.
UCLA vs UNC: really competitive game, especially for about 2 and a half quarters. I really think both sides should be happy. Unc guards started out so well. Aarnisalo, Nivar, Kelly all create for themselves so well, and gave UCLA's guards problems. I thought Cierra Toomey played well in spots. Definitely most comfortable shooting on the outside. I really don't know where else she feels comfortable on the offensive end except behind the arc. I'm not sure if it just is what it is. She played well defensively as well. For UCLA, I just think they are so talented. Betts is so good, I thought Toomey played her well and she still ended up with 20 10 and 7, shooting over 50 percent from the field. Kneepkens didn't get going and Leger Walker was relatively quiet but it didn't matter. Still won by nearly 20, and had 4 players in double figures. Kiki Rice was really good after a slow start. And Angela dugalic is an Olympian and pro. I don't mind 5th or 6th years but dugalic is like almost a professional role player in college. I love her game but idk, she's like a case study that's a bit different, cuz she's almost playing a similar role on the same team she was on last season. But she still has barely played 100 games and a lot of those she was injured or coming off of injury..
Maryland vs Townsend - Maryland is an interesting team. It was good to see Smikle back. I think she had 15 shots in 15 minutes but she looked like herself honestly. Garzon still trying to fit in a bit but their freshman guards are pretty fun to watch. I think they are deeper than I thought but conversely I'm a bit worried their transfers won't be as impactful as I thought, like all conference players.
Miami vs Florida Atlantic - kinda random but I saw Gal Raviv this summer and became a big fan. She's struggling a little bit, but I like their team. I think it's an age old question, when ur a guard who can create ur own shot, when do I be aggressive. I also think this is particularly challenging if ur not a fast pace or quick guard. Honestly Raviv and Aarnisalo remind me of each other. The ball will be in their hands. I think they both want to win but how will they make their teammates better. At half time Raviv had 10 shots, finished with 12.
What I saw tonight I’m not even sure they beat usf next weekThey’ll lose to SC but beat LSU. Duke prob won’t finish top 3 in ACC in current form
Something's off with Fournier as well from what I've observed. There's no way she should have had 4 shot attempts by the third and she wasn't making herself known during the game. Sophomore slump, just athletic, who knows at this point?Fournier’s got great physical tools but below average touch around the rim. Definitely a player who relied on her athleticism prior to college (as many do).
Duke is in trouble. Okananwa was pretty clearly their best player. Nothing wrong with a few early losses, but if you’re a team with Final Four aspirations, are Baylor and West Virginia teams you should lose to?
The fact that UCLA has beaten two top 15 teams without Gardiner and the younger Betts shows how deep and good they are and will be.How about Betts' line? 20 pts/10 reb/7 assists. I don't think her play making gets talked about, but obviously she can pass the ball.
Also second really solid game in a row for Dugalic coming off the bench.
I had mixed feelings since it came down to South Carolina and UCLA, but it was anything but under the radar from my vantage point. Probably the only "plus" is that Tessa will have more room to shine without Kneepkens on the roster, but dang, we could use that depth right now.The fact that UCLA has beaten two top 15 teams without Gardiner and the younger Betts shows how deep and good they are and will be.
It's going to be hard to rattle them I'd think, starting 5 seniors, including three (Betts/Rice/Jaquez) who have played together for three years. Kneepkens seems like a perfect fit in their lineup (And I feel like I was somehow an under the radar transfer addition) and Leger-Walker is 6th year player with a ton of experience. They don't scream athleticism, but they are talented, balanced, deep, and heady. Agree that thus far, they seem like a clear #2 team.
Curious to see if Swords and Howell have returned from the Canada Basketball training camp in time for these games today.SATURDAY

Hadn't thought of that. Ladine hasn't played yet for UW. Hopefully they will have both Ladine and Howell today, they need them as they go on the road for the first time and also play a team with a pulse for the first time.Curious to see if Swords and Howell have returned from the Canada Basketball training camp in time for these games today.
I watched some of that Stanford game. Pretty ugly. I was shocked when I heard the announcers talking about one of the Washington St. players who is only 16 years old. Malvina Haziri from Kosovo. Will turn 17 at the end of December. I'm not sure how that came to be.Illinois loses on the road to Oregon State. Stanford ekes out a victory at WSU. Baylor had to wake up late in the fourth quarter to get past UNLV. And we all know what happened with Duke at WV. This is going to be an interesting, fun, and somewhat unpredictable year.
Just saw team pictures getting off the plane in SLC. I think I see Howell. I definitely see Ladine, and injured players usually don't travel, so that's a good sign. Elle was day to day and we've been hoping they were just being conservative holding her out of the first 2 games because they didn't really need her.Hadn't thought of that.
