I thought Oregon was having a decent season...but they just fell to 2-6 in conference. Looking up at some teams they probably didn't expect to be ahead of them in the standings. 4 straight Ls. They get Penn St. and Rutgers next, but after that a tougher stretch w/ Maryland, Illinois and Ohio St. Then some winnable games again at the end, Nebraska, Washington X2, Indiana and Purdue.

edit--loss tonight was to Minnesota, who got a split on the NW road swing
Didn’t watch the game live. No longer trust the team. Need to win 50-50 games at home. But you can’t do that shooting 32% from the field. Etute led in points, rebounds, and assists but even she shot poorly 4-13. Will watch the replay today but…Unfortunate loss.

Wisconsin about to knock off Nebraska, will improve to 5-4 in the B1G. Going under the radar, but big improvement for them with the new coach. With several quality wins in conference, not looking like a flash in the pan.

edit--63-60 final; Nebraska falls to 3-5 and the schedule doesn't exactly get easy at any point, Northwestern and Rutgers are the only 2 games that seem like almost locks for a W
Wisconsin is defending home court well with wins over Michigan State, Oregon, and Nebraska. The remaining schedule looks a bit problematic however.

Allow me to get ahead of myself a bit. I see Fairfield and Quinnipiac both won today to improve to 9-0 in the MAAC. Had me wondering when they will meet. We have to wait until Jan. 29th when Fairfield will host the big showdown. And then the return game 2/14.
There's no other conference with such a discrepancy between the quality of the top 2 teams... and the rest of the conference. In NET rankings you have #49 Fairfield, #82 Quinnipiac, then.... #251 Merrimack and on down. It's a shame, because there are schools like Marist, Siena (NIL), Iona, and Sacred Heart that should be able to put together more competitive programs.

To be fair, the conference did get raided by the transfer portal with 5/10 1st and 2nd team players: Raviv (Miami), Seppala (Tulsa), Pryor (Texas A&M), Janneh (Texas A&M) and Lee (Clemson), along with 2/6 of rookie team: Traore (Robert Morris) and Bartholomew (Pacific). Still, things shouldn't be so dire.

Topic for another thread, but I do hope the NCAA gets some rules in place to at least stem the tide.

Fairfield and Quinnipiac should both roll into that game 11-0. Stags play #359 and #358, this weekend. Q has it a little tougher, but shouldn't have any problems doing the same.

Will be a fun game on ESPNU. 1/29. Best 2 teams. Best arena.

Something about Sun Belt Conference and games postponed due to inclement weather doesn't quite jive. Does Sun Belt mean something different then I think it means?
They're predicting significant ice as far south as Mexico. Ice in Houston. Yeah, that's weird. As of yesterday, the prediction for the DC area was 0-18" of snow. They do seem to be converging on about 8-14 this morning.

I'm pissed; it was supposed to be a warm January-February. La Nina isn't doing her job. I didn't move south of the Mason-Dixon line for this.

Looking out my hotel window in Arlington VA -- no snow anywhere, not here, not across the Potomac. None. There is a chance of snow Saturday evening, according to the local weather forecasts today.

Nice day outside in DC. But it's coming Sat nite. 7-12 inches, which is the equivalent of about 18-30 inches in CT.

Classic formula for Southern snow storm. Heavy moisture coming from the Gulf and a high from the Great Plains crashing into it I’m the more northern areas of SC, Georgia and Bama Sleety mix in the middle of those states

Don’t be surprised if Vandy doesn’t make it to Columbiaa for the SCar game Sunday

I hope you don't get the ice. They're predicting up to 1.25", but of course it's hard to say where. An inch will bring down a LOT of power lines.

May depend on if they move up their flight to Fri nite. Even early Sat should only be light snow.

It's an ESPN game so extra incentive for Vandy to make the travel adjustments.

Wow I had started my post congratulating Iowa on the win at MD — they were up 66-49 with 3 mins to go.

Just like the MN game, Terps come back from the dead to take gane to OT

Md scored 49 pts in first 37 mins.
24 in last 3.

Tenn edges Ky 60-58.

Cats have been all over the place lately
