yes, I would think there will be fewer players off the bench playing big minutes so we’ll get an understanding of what a true rotation will be.
Dawn has been experimenting with lineups a good bit against the cream puffs and even against NC sTate with Chloe sitting it out and Ashlynn having missed Fall official practices. We’ll see what happens but I’m not optimistic about the trip to UCLA.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not feeling that good about this game. We have too much inexperience at the 5 and this game isn't positioned well for us to work our those kinks before we play. I think we'll see a rotation of Feagin, Watkins, and Walker matched up against Betts.

I’m thinking Watkins on Gardiner again. Dauda , Tac and Walker rotate on Betts. Chloe and Joyce float. This might be the game where we see the 3-.big lineup especially if Tessa isn’t ready to backup at the three.

Has UCLA run a 3-big lineup this year?

I'm more optimistic about UCLA than most because, from my observations, they are having guard/backcourt role identity and execution issues. Kiki Rice is coming off an injury and still looks shaky. Londynn Jones got moved to the bench in their last game--where she shot 10% from the field (not a typo). Yes, Betts is a handful. But if the guards aren't able to get her the ball in her spots, then what?

Our best hope is that Chloe Close is the head coach at UCLA. Tier 2Coach at best

I'm not worried about SC v UCLA. I looked at boxscore the other day and saw the bench was Watkins, Edwards, Dauda, Johnson and Fulwiley.

That might be a top 5 team by itself.

SC has plenty of bigs to clog up Betts.

UCLA not really in sync yet, although Gardiner is off to a tremendous start. Her ability to shoot 3 is a nice offset to Betts.

I am happy to see a bigtime game.

Looks like we have a road sellout tonight at Clempsun but I doubt they will have any fans in attendance. (Capacity 10,325)

Yall better be glad y'all pulled it out. I was about to drive down 77 and cut a fool when I crossed the Richland County Line.

I've seen a few places had Clemson as a NCAA tournament team..... not sure if they are ready to step up to that level quite yet.

Well, it might have sold out but only half showed up. Attendance was just a bit over 5000. To see a lousy game between two teams that couldn’t shoot.

Drive on down in December. Oddly the cheapest tickets for our home games are for the Duke game.

Maddie looks like she is going to be a good PG for us. I have a feeling she will be the best PG since Ty at a minimum. There is just a feeling when I watch her play. She seems to be so natural at getting her teammates in position to score and she also seems so natural at knowing when it is her turn to score. She can read the defense and know when to drive for a layup and seems proficient at shooting the 3. Additionally she has shown signs of being a great defender and has some length for that position.

The crazy part is that she has only been practicing with the team for two weeks due to recovering from her injury but she looks like she has been practicing with them for the entire summer.

Some concerns going to Los Angeles:
  • Missing too many layups
  • 3 point shooting percentage still too low
  • Where is Tac? Either hurt or not ready, neither a good option
  • Dauda, a seasoned SEC player, still not a factor
Some positive trends:
  • Paopao’s assertiveness from the point
  • Watkins had a “Watkins” type game against Clemson
  • team defense last night was pretty good
  • Edwards and McDaniel both contributing
  • Feagin had some nice play down low
Last thought: never seen us play as bad as we did in the first quarter last night… a nightmare. We have been slow out the gate all season… two tough games ahead.

We have been a bad first quarter team this year. Ten first quarter points against Clemson was ridiculous!

What happened to Raven’s shot? Her mechanics seem to have changed and her shooting percentage is poor. Also her number of assists have fallen. Lob pass to Kamilla not there is missed

Agreed on Raven… Kamilla was her “security blanket” last year, as they had an undeniable bond on the court. Kamilla had a physically bigger presence down below than any of our current bigs, and we have to adjust. Points that were there down low last year aren’t going to be there this year… that’s just reality. The answer may be higher percentage mid-range shots and better offensive rebounding. We’re not a low post team on offense anymore, after years with Boston and Cardoso. We’re struggling with a new identity.

Maddie has been so impressive this season! She has exceeded my expectations. I believe that she's going to be a star PG for this program. I'm so thankful that she made the decision to play for the Gamecocks!

NCAA? Based on what? Geez.

Didn't Coach Staley say they were a team that you won't want to face in the ACC during conference play in her press conference? Who knows? Especially this early in the season.

I mean she said winning the SEC is harder than the national championship and she's won like 600 straight SEC games so I dunno.
