Missed “a” class? Missing 1 single class and benched for an entire game is pretty strict. I respect Dawn quite a bit if that’s all it was.

As a State fan I wish Watkins would have been held out another game for her off the court troubles! (I kid! I don’t even know the details - and genuinely hope she grows as a person and matured and learns from whatever happened).

SC is just bigger, faster and longer. So many weapons. So much depth. It’s truly another level when State lines up against yall. We’ve played UConn, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Stanford, Notre Dame, Louisville, Duke and the list goes on - never does State appear to have inferior athletes. When we play SC that changes everything.

Mostly I look at girls like Maddison Hayes - she’s an integral part of the team. Shoots it at a high clip. Rebounds. Super efficient player. She’s completely nullified against SC. Doesn’t have the height, length or athleticism to do what she normally does against a Ashlyn Watkins type.

Azaiah James, Zoe Brooks, Saniya Rivers and Zam Jones were the only ones who physically and athletically belonged on the floor against yall. And Rivers I’m convinced had a mental block against yall. Both times we played you guys she is a shell of herself. Looks like she lacks confidence. 1-7 with 4 turnovers yesterday. Just not who she is usually. There is something there that is holding her back against her former team IMO. James didn’t play to her ability either. It’s a credit to the Cocks defense and intensity.

State also prides itself on rebounding. We always outrebound opponents. Led the ACC last year I believe. 40-25 Cocks on the glass yesterday. Again, just a completely different animal against SC

Congrats on the win, good luck for the remainder of the year. Honestly hope we don’t meet again.
Dawn has disciplined players for missing study hall before, so it’s very possible. She’s pretty no tolerance on the ‘student’ athlete part…

Thoughts after the NCSU game:

Tessa Johnson, in a sit down interview after last season concluded, stated that she has an ankle that is ”floppy”. I think it is something she just has to manage, and in games where she is not needed the HC uses caution whenever she “flops” it.

Kitts supposedly missed a class. It happens. No worries here and nothing to look at.

PaoPao reshaped her body this offseason, like Boston did 2 years ago and Raven did last year. Tahini looks primed for a nice season.

Hall does a lot of things well. CDS rewards her seniors with playing time, but if you ere putting players on the court based purely on talent and ability to impact the game both Fulwiley and T. Johnson deserve more minutes per game than Hall, and both can play her position. Hall is often labeled the best defender on the team, but that isn’t actually the case. She is good all around at many things, but prob not great at any one thing tbh.

No mention/sight of Dauda yesterday. I’m in the dark on this one, hopefully not an injury situation. I read Tac was riding a stationary bike near the team bench during the game. I’m not certain what that means if anything.

Again, Raven will probably never have a reliable jump shot, I’m about over hoping that it will develop. She is the best floor general and ball handler on the team however and her defense is top notch.
I think Dauda is having issues reprogramming her brain to follow the South Carolina way of doing things. So I hypothesize that it is all a mental thing for her and she will be a great player for us when it all clicks. I've been wondering if her time at Arkansas left her unprepared for normal systems of play. I think she is having to relearn the fundamentals because Neighbor's system doesn't train front court players in the same way as typical systems (post mentality, defense, rebounding, etc.).

NC State was the last home court loss if I am not mistaken -- the game with the historically low score back in the 2020-2021 season when the freshies were sophomores. Since then, all of our losses were at away or neutral sites.

...I just realized that Kamilla and everyone on the current roster has never lost a home game.
Correct. 63 game home winning streak since.

Dauda is a little tentative and Watkins being back is going to mess with her playing time. Just the way that's going to work.

I think she would be a valuable player next year and will continue to get opportunities to show progress this year.

Well, the next three games are time for Dauda to grab some playing time.

of CourseI wanna see the following lineup for the Clempsun game of gals who grew up within 100 miles of Tatertown:

Ashlyn F
Joyce W
Sania W
Milaysia SG
Raven PG

Here is some trivia.

What program has the most recent unavenged win versus South Carolina?

Bonus: there are only 7 teams that have unavenged wins versus Dawn Staley. How many can you name?

Hint: one (and only one) of them is on this year's schedule.

You have me racking my brain. I'm trying not to Google but I can't think of any teams. We've revenged the most recent losses to Iowa, UConn, Stanford, Indiana, and NC State. We beat every team in the SEC last season, so it can't be an SEC team. All 7 losses must have occurred prior to the freshies.

I'm stumped. I can't remember the losses prior to the 2019-2020 season. Didn't we lose to Drake? I think that is one.

Very good, Drake is the most recent team who can claim a winning streak vs South Carolina.

The game was 11/24/18.

We play one of these teams this year and there are two NCAA losses from Dawn's tenure that are our last meeting with the opponent.

So that's three of them.

1 of the remaining teams is a Big 10 team we haven't played in awhile but has the only current 2 game winning streak vs Dawn.

The remaining two teams are mid-majors from opposite coasts that would take quite a memory and long running fandom to recall.

---- I did correctly guess Drake when I set out to look. I think I'd have gotten the more recent NCAA loss with a very outside chance at remembering the other NCAA loss with time.

What's an academic policy issue? Is she failing a class or two?

Why bother making a statement if it's unintelligible.
Usually that means to many absences from study hall or you have a final to take.

There should be a statute of limitations for validity reasons. Man, the dates for some of these teams go back almost 15 years!

Regarding Chloe…none of us know what policy she violated. She’s been an honor roll student since she got on campus and it’s a one game suspension, sort of like when Saniya Rivers was suspended for one game. Speculation is just that.

We have had previous 1 game suspensions before for all types of reasons. Chloe remained a positive and support teammate despite the setback and I think that says a lot. I do think in an attempt to be transparent, putting out a tweet listing why she was suspended open more doors for unnecessary speculation that could have been avoided.

So how do you think they should have handled that? Why she wasn’t playing was going to be asked by somebody. Dawn would have given the exact same answer AFTER the game that they gave before the game. Anyway - it’s over. Time to move on. Hopefully everybody will be available for the remainder of the year.

Certainly one of the worst defeats during Dawn's tenure. Still annoyed about that game.

As for Chloe, as long as her academic suspension is not of the Kaydra Duckett variety, she/we should be alright. :p;)

This will be my final comment on the matter since you asked. A simple comment following the game about the suspension and it only being one game would have been sufficient.

A whole graphic just gave it unnecessary attention and led to a lot speculation. So much so that even local media guys like Cloninger with the post had to make a clarifying statement to stop the rumors about the severity of the issue. Again I'm all for transparency, but I think the execution could have been better.
