URI Transfer: Tyrese Martin

We don’t want Martin. At all.
They’re losing a ton of kids to transfers so I wouldn’t listen to their fans’ justification for them leaving. He wouldn’t top my list or anything, but I trust Hurley if he determines he wants him.

If there's anyone we take from URI I think it would be Harris

A Becker fact I just looked up:

Over the last three offseasons Becker has:

Gained: Four transfers: A Big 12, SEC, A-10 and a CAA player.
Lost: One transfer who averaged 9 mpg.

Very rare for a low-major team to have this kind of positive turnover.

Helps that they’ve continuously won games at the rate in which they have and are seemingly always in contention for an NCAA Bid. Kids transferring down a level want the best chance to not only play, but win.

Idk what is happening at URI. Would suck if I were a fan of them. Go from top 15 ranked team to middle pack A10 in short time. Curious if the players don’t like Cox. Also makes me think we have a huge advantage with Hurley and his associated lack of turnover.

He was supposed to be their best recruit that year but it hasn't turned out that way. Do you think it was just the way he's been coached or used or is it something more?

Whatever Hurley does I’m for. My thoughts would be open up 2 more scholarships and just get loaded. Already have 1 open from Al, but I think he should stock up on talent especially with the 4 guard lineup

How come so many on here are against going after him?

My guess. It’s Because “how can someone who played at URI be good enough for UConn?” Or “Hurley should be able to do better.”

Borges hinting we are pushing hard. Shocker: Hurley disagrees with the yard ;)
I wonder how much the current landscape in recruiting due to Covid 19 is pushing the staff towards targeting someone like him. Hurley has mentioned how it can be difficult to get to know someone/trust them over phone calls. Hurley already knows this kid. I think everyone is anxious to fill the scholly and have some positive news to talk about, but however it shakes out, we’re going to get a good player.

It’a fair to listen to people who watched him play all season, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in information from URI fans given right after he decided to leave (certainly not a phenomenon applicable to just them). Hurley and Cox thought he was incredibly underrated out of high school. He took a prep year to improve his recruitment, and it worked. He committed to URI in the fall and then had a good prep year. I’d put him in the top 5 of guys they’re targeting.
