UConn vs Duke (Elite 8)

think you're gonna need to rotate AK, Stewart and J Ross on Boozer and just make him sweat for every inch he gets on the floor and make him make contested shots all game. Make him chase on screens on defense all night. Once the legs get tired, the inside game for him gets tougher.

Priority 1 though is protect the ball. We were cruising last night and then the turnovers started and before you knew it, we were back in a dog fight. Every turnover is a shot we don't take. It's an AK or Mullins 3 that never goes up. It's a Reed post up that never happens that could lead to a bucket or foul on their bigs. The ball is the one ring to rule them all. Protect the Precious.

That’s what I expect. Try and exhaust and frustrate him with multiple fresh defenders.

It sounds like Stewart is going to play very limited minutes going forward.

Yeah. I don’t expect him to play very much but we need his length in there for a little bit against a team like Duke, especially if Karaban or Ross pick up too many fouls. I liked when he came in last night. He did a few good things and made a 3. He was lively. Analysts keep saying Duke is deeper. We’re fairly deep too if Stewart, Ross and Smith are all involved. I don’t want to see Duke wear us down at the end because we played Alex and others 38+ minutes each and left Stewart on the bench.

My people don't wish death to duke but a crushing defeat would be just swell.

I do hope that Mullins isn't too keyed up. He played with and against the boozers in alot of those Allstars games last year and the boozer brother really were ball hogs in all of them and Mullins and to an extent reibe weren't able to showcase their talents. I hope that Mullins comes out fired up and ready but doesn't let the emotions get to him.

Pressure's on Duke to practice guarding us on short turnaround
I agree with this, but Kimani is going to have his hands full because our 2nd front will be the Referees. It will be a miracle if Reed and Silas get out of the 1st half with less than 3 fouls.

.-.
They probably won't be on the floor together.

They'll probably start with:

Boozer/Reed
Brown/AK
Sarr/Mullins
Evans/Ball
Foster/Silas

Then:

PN/Reed
Boozer/AK
switching should be good with us…we screen and Sarr gets on Silas and Silas gets fouls on Sarr. Also which of Duke’s ball handlers will have zero turnovers?

If you were a player in these higher profile games , would you check to see what people are saying about you?

I have several family members, and former coworkers who retired to Florida.

From what I'm told souped up golf carts are all the rage.
Florida is a huge state, so all comments to not apply to all areas ...

That said, here's what it's like in my hood, Fort Lauderdale / Broward County

I think Duke might come out in a 3-2 zone. Any chance Hurley might throw an occasional zone look at Duke. Probably not but I wouldn't mind it. Nobody besides Evans scares me from beyond the arc

I’m in Central Florida in a town of 28K and we don’t have the golf cart apps as you do but golf carts are all over. Places like Winn Dixie have narrower parking spots reserved for golf carts which crack me up. My insurance more than doubled when I moved from CT mainly due to my wife.

Ngongba isn’t playing more than 20, and no one else on that roster that can handle him.
Correct. So no other matchups matter because the ball is going to Reed whenever Boozer is on him.

Yes, this was in the paper this morning. Stinks.

Just under eight minutes into the game, Jaylin Stewart entered the contest for the first time in over a month. The junior wing suffered a knee injury in mid-February that kept him out of nine straight games until Friday night. He quickly made up for lost time, canning a 3-pointer and hitting a free throw right off the bat. But he didn't return to the game after three minutes of action, watching the latter half from the bench with his knee heavily wrapped.

Stewart said afterwards that he knew he didn't re-injure his knee but knew he wouldn't play much on Friday night or, for that matter, the rest of the tournament.

It’s on

Yeah well The Brotherhood and all.

When No. 1 seed Duke and No. 2 seed UConn square off Sunday in the Elite Eight, it will be a battle between "the two best college basketball programs on the men's side in the last 30 years," according to Huskies coach Dan Hurley.

Is he right?

It depends on the criteria, but if you're basing it exclusively off national championships and draw the line back a little longer than just 30 years, Hurley is spot on. Going back to Duke's first national championship in 1991 and drawing a line until present day, the two programs have combined for 11 titles.
