Bobby McBride got the start for Norwich today, and got the side in order before coming out right after that. Looks like a staff day for Norwich today.

Competition for bullpen is going to be fierce as outside of Willis no one has much experience (recent) to draw from. Even if some of the seldom used guys do come back I would think it would be a fresh slate and let the best 5-6 rise to the top

Casey Dana just joined Ocean State, he played his first games for them the last couple of days. He has had a couple of very good seasons at the bat for Seton Hall. His defense does not appear to be his strong point.

UConn is obviously working the transfer market, particularly the Grad transfers, pretty hard for the coming season. Casey Dana is the sixth transfer to UConn from another college program (including JUCO's and non Division 1) for the coming season that has been reported in these threads.

Cole Chudoba has had a very good summer with the the Bourne Braves of the Cape League. In 6 relief appearances and 17.2 innings, he has only had one bad outing. In that one outing, in 3 innings he gave up 8 hits and 4 earned runs, which doubled the number of hits Chudoba had given up on the Cape. You throw out that one appearance, he has allowed 8 hits in 14.2 innings, and has only 1 earned run against him in those 14.2 innings. Also, he has only given up 2 walks this summer.

Chudoba is transferring to UConn from a non Division 1 NCAA school in Assumption, so in normal circumstances you would have to wonder how he would fair against the Division 1 schools that UConn plays during its spring season. Chudoba is playing in arguably the highest regarded college summer league in the Cape Cod League, and he has been doing quite well there. There is definitely a big plus to that since he is playing against very talented players, and it certainly makes me look forward to see how he does at UConn when he arrives at summer. Chudoba was primarily a starting pitcher at Assumption, but has been used out of the bullpen this summer on the Cape. It will be interesting to see how he ends up getting used once he arrives in Storrs.

Hector Alejandro has had quite a summer pitching for the Bristol Blues. In his first appearance for the Blues, he gave up 6 runs, 4 of them earned (2 errors behind him), 2 hits, 2 walks while not getting anyone out. That will do wonders for your ERA. It was also the first official game he had pitched all season, as he redshirted at UConn this spring.

Since that one appearance, Alejandro has been quite good, and he has been used quite a bit. 10 more appearances all in relief, 17.2 innings, 1 earned run against him, 7 hits, 6 walks, 17 strikeouts in those 10 appearances. His ERA now stands at 2.54 which includes that first appearance when he didn't get anyone out.
