UConn @ Sam Houston State Bearkats (Fri. 4/26 @7:30p ET, Sat 4/27 @4:00p ET & Sun 4/28 @Noon ET)

Mayock has a nice outing, strands the runner. 8-5 going to the top of the 9th.

It's interesting, Mayock is near the bottom of the relief pitcher pile in the Husky bullpen. But in interviews with the coaches at the beginning of the season, Mayock was being mentioned in the same breath with the then unproven Wurster at the time.

Tough one outside the Fedko Brothers power burst...

As an aside - when I finally got home I flipped on ESPN+ and the bouncy house outfield camera was rough to take. Flipped it off and went back to old reliable WHUS. The girl (Courtney?) doing the game with Chris did a decent job for her first game.

Ok....guess I was wrong about it not being over. That one hurt a bit.

Friday in the AAC

ECU bear Tulane 14-0
UCF beat Memphis 12-11
Cincinnati beat Wichita State 5-1
USF beat Houston 5-3

Sam Houston State is starting RHP junior Cody Wolf today. The starting pitcher from last night, senior Hayden Wesneski seems to be by far their best pitcher, but these two pitchers do share one similarity in that they don't give up too many walks. Wesneski this year has now given up 16 walks in 80.1 innings (including 4 last night against UConn, his most in any game this season), while Wolf has given up 4 in 37 innings. Wesneski has a 2.80 ERA, while Wolf is quite a bit higher at 4.38. This is Wolf's second start of the season.

Yesterday was the most painful loss of the season for me. Win today and tomorrow and I'm willing to forgive and forget Friday. :p

Is Nucerino dinged up? (I missed first half of radio broadcast last night)

I listened to WHUS for most of the game, I did not hear anything about Nucerino.

Aside from that, it looks like UConn is going for best defense behind Kersten.

Huskies get two on but strike ‘em out/throw ‘em out double play ends the threat. They did get the Bearkat starter to throw 23 pitches.

Top 1st, UConn gets the first two batters on, but the inning goes bad after that, Huskies do not score.

Bottom 1st is starting bad with bases loaded with no out for the Bearkats.

Kersten gets a double play ball to Prato, but a run does score. So 1-0 Bearkats with two out and a runner at 3B. Kersten gets a strikeout to end the inning. Could have been much worse.

Kyler Fedko with another hit, he has been one of the few bright spots hitting wise lately. UConn leaves 2 runners on base in the 2nd as they do not score. Still, I always feel something good will happen if you keep getting runners on base, so keep that part up.
