Moriarty misplays a ball at 3rd. Game tied at 3 with 1 out. Double play ends the inning. Kersten needs better fielding than this. Both runs were earned, but....

Agree, he is doing his job - better than I expected. 3rd base continues to hurt us, Moriarity has not been his typical self dedensively this year.

Moriarty's defense is weird this season. He misplays some simple stuff, but mixes in some great plays as well. But it is not up to his standard of previous seasons, no question.

With Kyler Fedko at 2B, walk, sac bunt by Winkel advances him, David Langer pinch hits for Moriarty. Langer hit scores Fedko, 4-3 UConn, with Langer advancing to 2B.
 
Somehow I get the feeling Langer will get the start at 3B tomorrow, so back to the merry go round at 3B. Toppa hit by pitch (3 for UConn today), so runners at the corners with two out, and a pitching change.

As long as the kid isn't taking it out on his teammates, I have no problem with a kid being hard on himself. Honestly I would rather have that then a kid that doesn't show passion. Maybe we need more Nuccerino's.

Being tough on yourself is one thing. When it crosses the line into turning yourself into a jerk about it is something that this coaching staff is not going to tolerate. That is just speculation on my part.
 
Kersten impressive after giving up a lead off double and getting out a 2 on base jam in the 5th with no runs scoring. 6-3 UConn. Kersten at 90 pitches, so maybe one more inning for him.
 
Kyler Fedko's offense is coming on. Double puts Phillips at 3B. Two hits and a walk for Kyler today.

Chris Winkel ground out brings in a run to make it 7-3 UConn with one out, Fedko at 3B.

I agree with this decision...if Kersten can give us 1 more inning, it will prevent stress on him. Tomorrow could be a bullpen day for both teams, and I like our chances of winning one of those games.
 
Bottom 6th, 2 singles put runners on the corners with no out. Kersten coming out, Dandeneau coming in.
