Bottom 1st, two walks, a throwing error on Gozzo, and an infield single make it 1-0 for PC with one out.

Simeone gets the final two outs of the 1st inning. 1-0 PC.

.-.
Bottom 2nd, Simeone comes up with a 1-2-3 inning. Simeone with 3 strikeouts so far and 40 pitches.

Very nice job there by Simeone. Game 1 saved our pen so I am more concerned about Simeone's effectiveness than his efficiency

Top 3rd, another botched play by a PC outfielder with two outs bring in two unearned runs for UConn. 3-1 Huskies.

Jones remarking that he has never seen this many dropped fly balls at the D1 level. The wind isn't all that bad either (at least for this game). These are just ridiculous errors and we need to continue to make them pay for it.

.-.
Chris Jones also said that UConn is flying out of Charlotte late tomorrow night, so if they need to play part of this game tomorrow they should be ok.

Bottom 3rd, Simeone has a 1-2-3 inning. He has retired 8 in a row.

For anyone listening to jones the variety of musical selections between innings runs the gambit. They keep you on your toes that is for sure. Not sure if anyone else found it an interesting as I have

Top 6th, an infield grounder scores Winkel who had initially singled, stole 2B, and advanced on a wild pitch. 4-1 UConn with a runner at 1B with no out.

Absolutely the worst display of fielding I have ever heard or seen in a college game. UConn has had some bad moments over the years, but nothing comes close to what I have heard today by the Blue Hose. Absolutely awful display, and absolutely awful to listen to. I expect mistakes and such in college baseball, but this is far beyond the pale.

Stock with an RBI single makes it 5-1 in the 4th inning. Runners on the corners with 1 out. The PC pitcher is hurt and is coming out of the game. Could be a bit of a delay while they get the new pitcher ready.

PC actually turns a double play to end the top of the 4th. 5-1 Huskies.

Bottom of the 4th, Simeone strands two runners on base. 7 strikeouts for Simeone on the day. He did hit someone that inning, but his control seems to have improved as the game has gone on, after issuing two walks in the 1st inning. 5-1 Uconn.

Simeone pitches another scoreless inning, with 3 strikeouts. Nice job.

He should be able to go 1-2 more innings.

Honestly, I'd be quite happy with one more. 5 innings would be his most as a Husky. He is currently at 73 pitches.

Bottom 5th, Simeone with a scoreless inning, after issuing a 2 out walk. 5 innings is the longest he has gone in his UConn career. Have to think he is coming out after this inning, it's been a solid game for him, and it is something to build on. 9 strikeouts, 3 walks, 2 hits, 1 hit by pitch for him. 5-1 Huskies. Chris Jones was talking about it, but maybe he could follow in the mold of Wills Montgomerie, who could get into a lot of trouble and then get out of it with very little damage against him.

Simeone gets out of the 5th unscathed! Nice outing for him, assuming this is the end of the line for him.

Our softball team continues to roll, beating a very good James Madison team 9-5 today.

Surprise, Simeone takes the mound to start the 6th inning.

He starts the inning with arguably his most impressive strikeout of the day (his 10th overall).

Make it 11 strikeouts. Next batter comes up with a two out double. Then Simeone gets another strikeout to make it 12 strikeouts total for the game, and that ends the inning. No question, this is a quality start. 5-1 Huskies. Just a reminder, Simeone led the NECBL in strikeouts last summer.
