UConn MHOC 22-23

The problem is their schedule from here on out does not really allow for any slip ups considering the Pairwise position they are in.

The Quinnipiac game, if they get to play them, is kind of a Pairwise must win to keep them in contention for an at large bid considering they are not going to run the table.

I like how a 13-7-3 UConn is 13th in the poll but in the almighty Pairwise they are 19th and trailing a 10-11-3 Notre Dame.

Harvard didn’t drop much after losing to Yale. Beating Yale on Friday is a must for UConn. If they can do that and somehow take out Quinnipiac it may improve Hockey East’s standing a bit which seem strangely weak in the pairwise…

Remember 16 gets you nothing in Pairwise because Atlantic Hockey steals a spot

Or #15 if anyone besides BU wins the Hockey East tournament

Or any other surprise upsets in conference tournaments

.-.
Typically (not always), top 13 Pairwise gets you in. Only 3 of 6 top 16 need to win conference tourneys to assure #13 is in. Then again..................................top 10 is an absolute guarantee.

Harvard didn't lose to Yale; they won in OT. Harvard lost to Brown Saturday night though.

We'll be doing a lot of scoreboard watching as teams play their games-in-hand. But it will be in vain if we don't take care of our business.

Down 2 spots:

We are tied for 17th in Pairwise. A top 10 Pairwise finish or HE title will guarantee an NCAA bid. If we finish 11-14, we have a chance depending on who wins the individual conferences. Right now we are on the wrong side of the bubble.

We lose two spots for losing to QU but they gain a spot for beating us. Hmmm.

.-.
Does that have to do with them considering the game a neutral site Vs QU home game (if that is how they are indeed viewing it)?
Just a killer loss.

Did the win vs Yale have more to do w/ the drop than the loss to Quinn? The Yale game brought down the strength of schedule

Another PWR consideration in UConns favor, Notre Dame is teetering around .500 but is currently in the top 16. Any team below .500 is automatically eliminated from an at-large bid regardless of PWR. It's rare, but has happened.

One thing to remember is UConn has 5 OT wins but with Pairwise an overtime win only counts as about 2/3 of a win and about a 1/3 of a loss.

So even though UConn won the games they still do not count as full wins.

Hockey East and the Atlantic are the only conferences with just one team in the tournament right now.

Need a BC win over Northeastern tonight. Rooting (while holding my nose) for the Eagles.
