UConn MHOC 2024-25

Its annoying that the semi final games are on Thursday at TD
Agreed, but we all know why. It is what it is. The Frozen Four is the same way isn't it?

Why is it? Last time we were in it it was Fri-Sat
Fairer to the team that has to go to OT to get to the final by giving both teams a day of rest? Allows the league to hand out awards with a ceremony on the off day? The Bruins are on a west coast swing so it is not NHL related.

Read online someone believed it was because they needed prep time for the World figure skating championship they are hosting. At least it is a 1 year blip.

The games are Thursday and Friday instead of Friday-Saturday. I don’t know why that is. It isn’t to get a day off in between. FWIW Celtics are on a road trip too so it isn’t that.

Yup, everything to play for. But playoff style hockey. Get it deep every rush, third guy always high. Bottle up the neutral zone. Do some hitting. Boring to watch but absolutely necessary at this stage.

Is there something about a 3-way tie with BU and Prov where we somehow rise to 3? That seems to be what he's implying
Someone else can do the math to
prove or disprove the tiebreaker - it’s not a drug calculation. ;)

If we beat UVM (in regulation), then root like hell for PC to drop three points versus BU and Northeastern. That would put us fourth, home ice for the quarters. Then a semi-final game any day against the hated "you don't belong in the ACC" Bahsten Cahledge.

McMahon calls out Cavanaugh as a HE and/or National Coach of the Year candidate for what expectations were compared to how the team has performed.
As he should, didn’t he have them finishing last in HE

I Wood agree.
Just my two cents, I don't want to dump on Wood. I loved Bradley's physicality but at the same time he took a lot of dumb penalties and we spent a lot of time killing unnecessary penalties. Addition by subtraction I would agree with. I think the culmination of the Wood chemistry (not that I'm in the locker room) and not having to kill off dumb penalties and player develop with the current roster has snowballed into a great season. We all know anything can happen in the tournament. As happy as I am that we're finally making it, I wouldn't be satisfied by just making the tourney, this group has the potential for great things. I wouldn't want to play us in the tourney.

First off big congrats to Hudson. Well deserved!! This award strikes home with me. When I was at Clarkson as an undergrad, Len Ceglarski was the men's hockey coach. I knew him quite well. In fact, I have a couple of Len stories in my Clarkson skiing memoir.
