UConn MHOC 2024-25

The last time I saw Alaska Anchorage was in Anchorage in 1993 at the Anchorage Civic Center. They beat MN Mankato State. It was warmer in Anchorage than in New England that week. The Civic Center had bars in the concourses which served hard liquor. The time before that was in 1989 (I think) under the Saarinen Roof in Storrs, and Todd Krygier scored twice in a 7-4 loss.

Just thought you would like to know the prior history.

has anyone successfully been able to reserve tickets for MHOC playoff game? I got the email, but it was not an option in the buy tickets…..I think the deadline is 3/5.

It IS an option for season ticketholders to reserve their current seats at Toscano. The “buy” will be executed if UConn hosts.

Thanks all. The renewal option did not show up on my iPad, but does on my phone…sure hope it is a ticket for Saturday!!!!!

-> Schandor also played a key role in the Huskies’ recruitment of defenseman Viking Gustafsson Nyberg. A late entrant to the transfer portal after his head coach at Northern Michigan left, he looked like a perfect fit for UConn. The team wanted another blue liner and new assistant Nick Peruzzi had just coached him the previous season.

There was just one problem: The Huskies didn’t have a scholarship for him.

So head coach Mike Cavanaugh approached Schandor to ask if he’d be willing to give up his own scholarship in exchange for an equivalebrt amount of NIL money. While Gustafsson Nyberg required full tuition, Schandor was set to complete a graduate certificate as a fifth-year, which didn’t require as much money.

The move made sense financially — but only if Schandor was up for it. He agreed and UConn landed Gustafsson Nyberg.

“That's the type of kid he is,” Cavanaugh explained on one of his recent radio shows. “He's just a selfless kid.” <-

I have been critical of Cav for last few years. Not going to run from that. Look at facts. However I am thrilled with this yesrs team. We look like the better team most nights. Absent a couple wtf losses early our record would be incredible. Team just feels different. Faster, crisp and accurate passing. My main consistent criticisms have been cured. Way better power play, better PK. Defensive zone breakouts. All 3 amazing so far this year. And a bunch of likeable guys who seem to have great chemistry. Loving this ride. Hockey always tough in post season one and done but this team has a chance for incredible things. Why not us? Go Huskies!

Nick Peruzzi was a good add.

Cant help but wonder aloud if the team chemistry was just a matter of addition by subtraction.

I was out last night so couldn’t watch the game but I was a little worried about a letdown. Checked the score and it was 2-1 NU had just scored. By the time I could check again it was 6-1. I had to look two places to confirm! LOL. This is the type of play we want. Play hard no matter the opponent.

I Wood agree.
I like what you did there....I think it is true. those "drafted" players probably have people in their circles giving them a big head. this year the team has the right mentality and centralized focus. I wonder how they would have bought into a playbook created by their teammates. glad we never have to know.

enjoying the ride.

Schandor and Spietz were not coming back if Wood was still here. Saying Wood was a clubhouse cancer is an understatement.

Revisionsist history with Wood now that we're sitting at 8th in pairwise without him

I think this team is really tight....noticing the little things. their pregame huddle always starts 15 seconds before the other team and ends 15 seconds after the other team...they want to be together.

heck, watching BU's huddle on Tuesday. four of the players were not even in the team huddle- they had a mini huddle on the side and a couple of other players were not in either...just standing back.
