UConn is going Bowling > Wasabi Fenway Bowl v. Army (Saturday 12/27/25 @2:15 on ESPN)

You were doing good until the last comment.
UConn has definitely demonstrated they can put O Linemen in the NFL.
Yes of course, The Mizzou folk are scouring the portal entrants, and his name was brought up as someone one to bring in. If he does well playing against SEC competition, I would think that would enhance any standing he currently possess at this point. Watching him these years I believe he has lost some mobility due to his knee injuries.

-> “I understand guys that opt out, things happen and people have got to make decisions for themselves,” UConn tight end Louis Hansen said. “But in my opinion, this game’s fleeting. There are not a lot of opportunities to go out and play football, you’re not guaranteed ever to get another game, so for me it was a no-brainer, another opportunity to play football, I’m going to take advantage of it.”

UConn’s second trip to Boston for the Fenway Bowl on Saturday won’t be all it could have been, but because a majority of the Huskies appear to see it Hansen’s way, it will not be the cringy waste of time some, including me, were thinking it could be. Ticket sales, UConn folks are saying, are going fairly well. <-

-> “The No. 1 goal is to get 10 wins,” defensive back Cam Chadwick, who intends to enter the portal but is open to returning to play for the new coaching staff. “We’re all bought in. We came in for the meeting right after we were chosen to play in the Fenway Bowl, we’re definitely blessed, we’re going to go out there and play. We don’t get a chance to play for a conference championship, so bowl games like this are our postseason and it’s a great way to go out.” <-

Would rather have Murawski than not have him. My initial thought was that he has trouble staying on the field. However, 5th year might be the year it all comes together for him, would have been nice for that to happen wearing National Flag Blue and White.

Amore’s article indicates practice(s) lockdown and no comments by Sammis, will not know who is playing until game time. Great.

As much as that might suck for those who want to buy tickets, I wonder if part of this is some strategy by Sammis to not give Army any more of an advantage. They may have our roster, but not knowing who is actually starting may give an early window for us to control the ball...I took an unhealthy dose of hopium this morning.

I don't mind the idea of giving Torian Johnson a full game. He has an ideal body for LT and this may pay dividends gor next season.

apropos of nothing was wondering why the Walter Camp people couldn't go along with the rest of the crowd and put Skyler on their first All-Amer team. Know their HQ is in New Haven but no idea if their voters/team deciders are mostly in CT or scattered throughout the land.
Walter Camp Foundation struggles to give UConn players it CT player of the year trophy. It's a yale thing.

It doesn't have anything to do with the game. Sammis isn't coaching the team last that day. Assuming they don't want coaches or players talking future.

The lack of knowing who is opting out is probably because they don't want their players poached

I thought UConn would be providing fan buses up to Fenway like last year but haven't seen or heard anything about it yet. Already got my ticket so I don't want to go in on a whole package deal, just the ride to & from the game.

It may be somewhere buried in this thread…but when is the next media event for the game? I know they said Sammis would be available at the next event.

Probably browl game presser. Friday afternoon is typically the time. The bowl mandates availability of coaches. From a strategic perspective, I doubt the school wants a press conference with someone who isn't part of the team Dec. 27 evening . Kind of silly.

I am sure candle is overseeing what's happening just from a management scenario and talking to players here. I would hope so at least. Then, identifying coaches who stay through the transition.

This is beyond bizarre though. Wonder if any positions coaches would stay.

UConn is still a 9.5 point dog. KInda surprised that the line hasn’t shrunk further.

Probably not a lot of action on it right now to drive a move on the line.

To me this feels like a game that betters might want to stay away from. Army is a ball-control team, so not a ton of possessions to build and hold a 10 point lead on... and lots of questions around UConn with a different head coach, and some question marks with a couple of linemen as well as the QB missing. Until there's more clarity on the UConn game roster, I can't imagine this is a fun one for folks (outside of UConn fans) to feel good taking a shot at.

Agreed, except the coaches are the same from the standpoint of most minute to minute decisions. Gotta think that Sammis was influential on whether or not to go for it anyway, so having that decision now his alone is probably not much different. I think the issue of who is playing is the question and that card is being held closely to the vest. With the receivers and running backs UConn has it pretty much comes down to the OL. I would love to see Farrar or Nick under center if the OL starters play.Of course if JF had a last minute change of heart that would be fun too.

A Fenway Bowl loss will take (almost) nothing away from a turnaround season that none of us expected. It will hurt.......we all are hoping to get to the "magic" ten with a full compliment of players. But that's not how it works in today's environment.

So be it. Should we win.............well done, boys. Should we lose...........well done, boys........ for a great season. You should be proud for having represented our (mine, too) university with class and dignity. We'll remember your dedication forever.

When we heard all those rumors about players opting out/going to the portal….I couldn’t disagree with the line. The line moved to 10 when it was thought that Joe, Bell, Cam, multiple OLs and TEs and multiple defensive starters were skipping the game. Since it moved to 10, we have learned that Bell and Cam are playing…along with the entire defense. Coaching staff minus Mora is also completely intact for this game.

Yes…the QB situation is a complete unknown…but they aren’t facing the 85 Bears. Farrar just has to be a game manager. With his running skills…and Cam…and Mel…and Victor…they can just play Army’s game of ball control and mix in a few Bell passes.

Most importantly…the entire defense will be available…and they have faced similar offenses…and they have had time to practice defending the option.

It will be interesting to see if the line drops more before the game.
