He needs to show progress from when we last saw him to prove he is coachable and has the ability to improve. Otherwise the tape on him is mediocre at best. Whether he portals or not. Candle will be at the game and can see firsthand those improvements, assuming he has made some...For guys like Evers that have a lot of physical talent and were highly rated in the past, it might be better for NIL negotiations to stay off the field and sell suitors the potential and development over the last few years at UConn. If he gets on the field and looks awful, bye bye paycheck.
If people are betting on these meaningless bowl games, its time to take a long hard look in the mirror.UConn is still a 9.5 point dog. KInda surprised that the line hasn’t shrunk further.
A Fenway Bowl loss will take (almost) nothing away from a turnaround season that none of us expected. It will hurt.......we all are hoping to get to the "magic" ten with a full compliment of players. But that's not how it works in today's environment.
So be it. Should we win.............well done, boys. Should we lose...........well done, boys........ for a great season. You should be proud for having represented our (mine, too) university with class and dignity. We'll remember your dedication forever.

Or message me for club seats with access to the warm club, food buffet and bar service. We have 4 tickets available. $230 each.Current forecast is upper 20s and snowy. Bundle up!
I think without Joe it is reasonable. If he played, UConn would be favored. Sadly, his decision has tainted his legacy at UConn.UConn is still a 9.5 point dog. KInda surprised that the line hasn’t shrunk furtherI
I would take that one step further. Anyone who gambles on sports is very likely to lose a lot more than they win.If people are betting on these meaningless bowl games, its time to take a long hard look in the mirror.
Im sure some would. Lower food chain guys. If im candle i make a big showing at the game and if we do well id be the 2nd or 3rd person who shakes sammis's hand afterwards.Probably browl game presser. Friday afternoon is typically the time. The bowl mandates availability of coaches. From a strategic perspective, I doubt the school wants a press conference with someone who isn't part of the team Dec. 27 evening . Kind of silly.
I am sure candle is overseeing what's happening just from a management scenario and talking to players here. I would hope so at least. Then, identifying coaches who stay through the transition.
This is beyond bizarre though. Wonder if any positions coaches would stay.
do you even know why he’s not playing. A bit dramatic hours before Santa arrives, no?I think without Joe it is reasonable. If he played, UConn would be favored. Sadly, his decision has tainted his legacy at UConn.
Went to college with a person with a who had a real gambling problem, he was betting on spring training baseball and later AAA baseball. If people are betting on these meaningless bowl games, its time to take a long hard look in the mirror.
That's why I don't watch ESPN any more. Only if they are broadcasting a game i want to see.Went to college with a person with a who had a real gambling problem, he was betting on spring training baseball and later AAA baseball.
The bowls though close to obsolete will linger due to betting. ESPN is showing odds on every game from Draft Kings. They both need these games to generate revenue.
In the article it lists No. 80 John Neider as a back-up for WR and as a back-up for Right Tackle. Is that really the case? He is listed at 205 lbs.Middletown (NY) Times Herald- Record

I am tainted as I know someone who lost everything because of it. It has been my experience that it seems that friends who can least afford to lose money are the ones who gamble it away.Went to college with a person with a who had a real gambling problem, he was betting on spring training baseball and later AAA baseball.

I thought it was because he is afraid he might get hurt.do you even know why he’s not playing. A bit dramatic hours before Santa arrives, no?
Maybe they’re afraid to get hurtI am tainted as I know someone who lost everything because of it. It has been my experience that it seems that friends who can least afford to lose money are the ones who gamble it away.
He’s not afraid to get hurt. He’s more afraid to give the NFL scouts more film to pick apart his game. Throwing a few seconds late to receivers, accuracy issues……….I thought it was because he is afraid he might get hurt.
ESPN went all in on sports betting and it has gone belly up.Went to college with a person with a who had a real gambling problem, he was betting on spring training baseball and later AAA baseball.

Need to put the old /s at the end. There are actually some folks who believe that straw man.I thought it was because he is afraid he might get hurt.
Yeah pretty sloppy, with Porter also listed as a tackle (SMH), plus mostly guesswork, I assume. Since Uconn hasn't even listed a 2 deep for the game in their press notes............In the article it lists No. 80 John Neider as a back-up for WR and as a back-up for Right Tackle. Is that really the case? He is listed at 205 lbs.
Appreciate the insight.ESPN went all in on sports betting and it has gone belly up.
When I was there about 8 years ago (ugh, time flies) there were discussions about if they should do betting or not, like get into it. There were a lot of people who thought it was next big thing. And hence, we get ESPN Bet, which was a spectacular failure.
DraftKings and FanDuel run it online. For all ESPN did, its promos and cross collaborations and pushing...they couldn't dent market share at all.
