I did. The fact that I'm willing to support the program with information being withheld doesn't mean that someone selling tickets doesn't owe it to those buying to let them know of possible issues.

He didn’t know. And it sounds like there is quite a bit of bogus information going around.

You have nothing to complain about.

That's great. I'm the one who said I'm not assuming we have mass defections unless the players are saying it in their social media or we're hearing it from a reporter or some other legitimate source. If DB didn't KNOW that players were boycotting the game, then of course he shouldn't have said they were.

But the rumors should have been addressed a week ago, even if all Benedict had to say to the fanbase is "I've seen rumors that there are a large number of players not willing to play in the bowl game. My office and the staff (and other than Mora the entire staff is here working on the bowl game) have been talking to the team and as of today we only know of __ players who have told us that they are definitively not playing." That's all that needed to be said.

Let ME be clear. The players boycott this bowl and this longtime UCONN football fan is out. !

I sure as hell hope it has not degenerated into that.

Jez, can I count this towards my CLE requirements?

A stark difference exists between the teams re: opt outs. Army does not accommodate opt outs (can't opt out for the NFL.), so we're going to see all first teamers. (Thus, the point spread has been widening...)
In a hypothetical world where Army has significant contributors among the freshman (plebe) or sophomore (yearling) classes, they could opt out.

We don't have any of those this year, except at K, which isn't exactly a high portal potential position.

Last year 1000-yard rusher RB Kanye Udoh entered the portal after the Army-Navy game and did not play in the Independence Bowl. He went to Arizona State.

LB Elo Modozie played in the bowl game and entered the portal later. He is now at Georgia.

Both Udoh and Modozie were yearlings last year.

I hope Bell goes out with one last incredible performance. We are really lucky to have had a guy like him these last two seasons, he is the perfect example for potential P4 transfers that you can make a name for yourself here at UConn

-> UConn hasn’t allowed media into practice and Gordon Sammis, the offensive coordinator named interim head coach after Mora left for Colorado State, who later accepted the OC position at TCU, did not speak on Friday. From speaking with four different players, it seems most are following Bell’s lead and doesn’t appear that there will be mass defections as was feared.

Edwards, the star running back from Norwalk who is in the portal, was at practice. So was “pretty much” the whole defense, according to defensive back Cam Chadwick, and the whole coaching staff, aside from Mora. The only confirmed opt-outs a week ahead of the game are quarterback Joe Fagnano and offensive linemen Ben Murawski and Carsten Casady. <-
