The opt outs would have happened no matter the bowl and it is happening at every school. And, it seems the players didn't officially opt out until yesterday (?) so how is this Dave's fault?

I sincerely hope that you renew your season tickets as I have already done, I believe the best is yet to come for the program and the Candle era will be a success. With respect to the bowl, while I get the frustration, the only scenario where you could challenge the ethics of the athletic department is if they promoted a player's participation in the bowl while knowing that he would opt out. To date none of the promotional materials or communications I have seen from the athletic department regarding the bowl are promoting players that are expected to opt out. If I missed any such promotion or communication then of course I stand corrected and the school should be criticized for misleading marketing.

My vote is a combination of incompetence, in terms of Benedict not realizing HE had to be responsible for making sure players wanted to do this up front, and as proposed above uncertainty in terms of players who are hemming and hawing about it without committing either way.

What happened to "I buy my season tickets when I am asked to in order to support the program'.

Jez, can I count this towards my CLE requirements?

A stark difference exists between the teams re: opt outs. Army does not accommodate opt outs (can't opt out for the NFL.), so we're going to see all first teamers. (Thus, the point spread has been widening...)

I did. The fact that I'm willing to support the program with information being withheld doesn't mean that someone selling tickets doesn't owe it to those buying to let them know of possible issues.

My position on this is clear that players have a duty to their team and teammates not to walk out for now reason, but I will say that I have more understanding of where Fagnano is coming from if he feels he was under the radar of NFL scouts until this year and now has not one but three all star games to play for a shot at huge money. That to me is far more compelling than the "but what if I get hurt "crap which has been a risk in every game they've played since high school.
