UConn is going Bowling > Wasabi Fenway Bowl v. Army (Saturday 12/27/25 @2:15 on ESPN)

Went to college with a person with a who had a real gambling problem, he was betting on spring training baseball and later AAA baseball.

The bowls though close to obsolete will linger due to betting. ESPN is showing odds on every game from Draft Kings. They both need these games to generate revenue.
ESPN went all in on sports betting and it has gone belly up.

When I was there about 8 years ago (ugh, time flies) there were discussions about if they should do betting or not, like get into it. There were a lot of people who thought it was next big thing. And hence, we get ESPN Bet, which was a spectacular failure.

DraftKings and FanDuel run it online. For all ESPN did, its promos and cross collaborations and pushing...they couldn't dent market share at all.

In the article it lists No. 80 John Neider as a back-up for WR and as a back-up for Right Tackle. Is that really the case? He is listed at 205 lbs.
Yeah pretty sloppy, with Porter also listed as a tackle (SMH), plus mostly guesswork, I assume. Since Uconn hasn't even listed a 2 deep for the game in their press notes............

Appreciate the insight.

I find it interesting how dependent DraftKings and FanDuel are on ESPN. I am guessing the action on a game varies greatly if you can or can't watch the game. ESPN controls so much of that market segment. A lot of people can't watch a game without having action on the game. Betting suddenly make a boring game interesting.

Gosh, what would I give to throw the ball around at Fenway? Or to hit BP there for that matter.
When the Henry group first came in they opened up the field to play catch on Father's Day. I got to play catch with my kids, and with my dad, and watch my dad play catch with my kids in Fenway. It was really memorable.

Bad mistake by Samuel Adams. In a cold northeast city where you're outside you need to be drinking something hearty like a stout. Not some gold lager that makes you feel 30° colder.
Maybe it's infused with wasabi. That will warm you up.

Better yet Evers Field.

Heard stories from my father. I was born in Brooklyn when they were still there, but was too young to go to the games. Did see old Yankee Stadium and saw the Mets at the Polo Grounds.
Grew up in Burlington, VT. Went to Ebbets Field twice. Just got to Dodger Stadium (Chavez Ravine) this year. Shohei hit one, Mookie hit two, but they lost to Arizona.
