if u receive $$, large portion withheld until all games inc bowl games are required, injuries must be confirmed as significant by Team Doc and reconcinfirmed by independent sports Med Doctor! Shud be in all contracts in NCAA!! Big pay day need to big boy! I am former player andvbI think fair is fair" 2 way street" forget bonus make it a "penalty with a loss of a down $$$ ! Simple!Wondered about that, and would it make a difference if we gave them a "bonus". If you start with Fagnano and Bell, how much do they make and how much would make a difference in their "feelings" about the game. So foreign to my experience of Intercollegiate Athletics, and I guess that is where we are today.🤷♂️

I agree. As a ticket holder, I will be really disappointed if there is no official word on who is playing. I think the fans at least deserve that. Will we actually know who will be playing for UConn in this game, or will it just be a surprise on the 27th?
I would guess we won’t find out much until the media days the week of the bowl. But it would be nice to at least know who the quarterback will be.
lol…never mind. There’s a whole thread on it.Didn’t see this posted anywhere else.

UConn Football QB Joe Fagnano, WR Skyler Bell to sit out 2025 Fenway Bowl

Quote from Hoosiers:
"I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. These six individuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to put themselves on the line 23 nights for the next 4 months, to represent you, this high school. That kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands your respect. This is your team".
Whom ever takes field for us at the bowl deserves our support because they are our team.
Yeah, Hoosiers is a great movie. Why?
It’s ironic you’re using this quote since it mentions 4 months. Most fans were hoping that players would play for the full four months/season.Quote from Hoosiers:

Ed Nelson is playing.
He ended up in camp with the Rams, after getting cut he went onto his pro-hoops career overseas.I believe Ed tried out as a tight end after basketball. Nice connection.
We're still building our brand in terms of being a reliable bowl team with a fan base that travels well. I'm not sure that the team that canceled the 2020 season can afford to turn down a bowl game. This sucks.
Totally different team in the bowl game. Hard to get on players about playing when you can't even get coaches to stay. Probably should have turned the bowl down (only half joking).
It may showcase some future stars, next years quarterback ???
Would still like to win this game though. This mentality of who cares about this game is a very poor reflection on society and on gaining lifelong values. No one is going to think the program is less healthy or strong because of Wasabi Bowl. It may showcase some future stars, next years quarterback, any number of positives. The outcome is irrelevant, it's not what we do, its what we do with it. Candle comes out swinging after Christmas.
Good question, and I'm not sure that they are able to do so? The military academies are just different, and although there may be a few players that have professional aspirations, there would probably be some unseen repercussions if they said no thanks to a bowl game. Then again, if a player refuses, they may just chalk it up to an "injury" and handle things internally. Many many years ago, my husband was involved in something at USNA. Totally legit, and yet they made his last year hell. He should have flunked out but they wouldn't let him, as they could not ever admit that they were wrong. That's a beer and wings story. Can I assume that not one player at army is going to opt out of playing

Care to shed some light, then? Before people get excited (too late) that St. Nick will be coming down the chimney to lead the way for us, the chatter right now is that he likely won't play in the bowl. So like the great wise monkey said:

Source? This would be disappointing, if true. Before people get excited (too late) that St. Nick will be coming down the chimney to lead the way for us, the chatter right now is that he likely won't play in the bowl. So like the great wise monkey said:

I don't think it is a question off can they but will they They believe in the team mentality and commitment to team members and fellow cadets. Even though on Saturday while on the field Army and Navy both wanted beat the other team they have the utmost respect for each other and even though they are at different academies they realize they have the same work ethic and commitment to serve after graduation.Good question, and I'm not sure that they are able to do so?
