UConn is going Bowling > Wasabi Fenway Bowl v. Army (Saturday 12/27/25 @2:15 on ESPN)

I want a blow out and I'm really not trying to sound arrogant about it and mean no disrespect to Army we are due to beat them let's do it.
UConn will be lucky to win with all the 2's starting.

I can’t make the game, but I want to support UConn. Should I buy 4 nose bleed seats and not use them / give them away? Or is it better to not buy any in case there are large #s of fans that want to go to the game? Thanks.
If you normally get athletic department emails you'll probably get something either tonight or tomorrow which will have a link to buy/donate tickets to military families & youth groups.

Alternatively UConn will likely setup a website that will link you to the relevant place to buy tickets. The Fenway Bowl website also has a link for UConn fans on it

My goodness some of your are insufferable.

We're in a bowl game. We're playing for a tenth win. We get to watch another football game at Fenway Park instead of some soulless stadium in Boca Raton.

I get it. We wanted to play a P4. But there is a lot to love about this game.

I'm saying playing a bowl game against a P4 team is more prominent than playing a bowl game against a G5 team. Not that hard to understand

When you nudged the goalpost you became clearer. If you don't think the opponent is as "prominent" good for you, I don't really care

But to say the bowl itself is less prominent because we took the ACC slot like you did, just shows a lack of knowing how these things work and quite frankly a shot at our program

Let me ask you, why should a p4 team agree to play us in a bowl when that would be met with utter disdain from their fans like you?

Agree 100 percent, the football board is becoming a bit like the basketball board with that insufferable Boston/NY pro sports mentality. If you have fans like that your doing something right.

If you hear anything about that can you make a thread about it?

I took Amtrak last year but prices are bad right now and the 2:30 start makes it a longer day.
I drove last year with FCF and for Boston College this year. Perfectly easy round trip each time. If folks want to bus or train, great, but even from the bottom part of the state this is not a big deal to drive there and back in one day.

Does anyone know what the payout is to UConn for the bowl appearance? Couldn’t find what they got last year.

On the face of what you said, I agree. But it's kind of hard to not look at this as being yet another consequence of conference realignment and how UConn got screwed. Someone on X just pointed out that we are in the Fenway Bowl in the ACC slot because ND declined.

If anything, this just tells us that CFB is in a really really bad spot. And there's no winning for us. Either folks like me are disappointed that we didn't get a better bowl, which I think we deserved. Or folks like you think this is a great bowl because we would be treated like crud if we played another P4 team because they hold such a low opinion of us.

That's bad either way! It's just that some folks are happy enough with Fenway. Ok, fine. But I find it weird folks aren't wishing for something better. At least the start time isn't at 11am this year.

My favorite part about all the complaining about who our opponent is that we are bowling for the second year in a row. I bears complaining about how bad we suck.

I will go but this is the worst. A boring Army offense and mIddling AAC team that can beat us because we can't stop the run. A no win situation.
Is this why Joe Bonamassa plays the blues? Not at all, don't let him even see your thoughts he is a big UConn fan with a brighter outlook ; )

The biggest prize is the media saying "10 won UConn" for rhe next 8 months.

Even the CFB doesn't care who you beat to get there, except in certain circumstances.

We haven't played the game yet bub

Someone with self awareness would have stopped there. But you do you.

No one disagrees that in the current situation we will be unable to compete for college football’s top prizes. EVERYONE on here wishes for something better, including a better bowl opponent. But we all knew what the situation was years ago and don’t understand why we have to listen to you crazily whine about it today. You know what we can do — we can go to football games, show up, have fun and win more than our share of games. If you don’t want to do that, that’s fine. But have your nice day elsewhere please.

Thinking some more, this thing has been set up to get UConn its 10th win by our friends in the ACC to whom we most probably will have to pay half the compensation. It has the potential to make UConn look great. So this looks like the matchup UConn sought. I was stoked to watch the Air Force game this year and I will be stoked to see this one.

The Town of Bolton ran a bus last year. If they do again I will post it.

Amazing to see you write this out admitting defeat. Did this season not mean anything more to you or are you a complete nihilist about UConn football?

For me, this season was a sliver of hope that we could maybe get back into the form we were in during the late aughts. And I know I am far from the only one on this board that thought that.

WTF are you rambling about? If you mean you want to be back in the form we were in during HCRE1, we have in the last four years clearly moved a long way in that direction. We’re not there yet, but we are getting there. If you mean that because we went 9-3, beating 8 crappy teams and even giving us a pass for Syracuse losing to 2 G5 teams not in the top 80 or so, you thought the world would treat us like we were still in a Big East league whose champions was guaranteed a slot in one of the biggest five bowls, you’re friggin high. What you want will take success in the field and selling tickets over a prolonged period of time.

This. Army will treat it like the Super Bowl.
As well as we should also JMHO....
I would be surprised if Army doesn't turn out reasonably well. We may set a new attendance record for this bowl with fewer UConn fans than last year.
Army will bring an army for sure. With so many veterans across local proximity. That along with an entire section of cadets all in uniform and jumping up and down with coordinated chants. Not sure if they are allowed to have a chopper fly over with trooper parachuting in with the game ball.
City's flying limits flights over stadiums. At West Point the chopper makes a few low passes over the stadium, rises to a higher altitude and chuters jump out with American flag flying behind and presenting the game ball landing at mid-field.

Fenway sucks for football, there’s no usual day-of events like normal bowls, it’s just a very mid bowl. When you throw in the weather too it’s a no-brainer why no P4 teams want to go here.

But we still gotta show up…

The weather is not that much different than Storrs, possibly warmer. I hate winter and would prefer 75+ degrees, but I am going. I love Boston for a visit and now I only go to Fenway when a UConn team plays there. Frozen four there would be a blast!!!
