UConn is going Bowling > Wasabi Fenway Bowl v. Army (Saturday 12/27/25 @2:15 on ESPN)

No offense, but this misses the point of what a bowl game should be. It's not just about the game, but also about the festivities. I've been to the Fenway Bowl for the past two years. The festivities really don't exist with this bowl game. It's just another game. It's one of the worst bowl games out there in this regard.
The 1990's called.

The days of a week of festivities, nice swag bags for players and a big game are over.

Outside of the CFP and a half dozen other bowls UConn is locked out of, these are TV events made to showcase a brand.

The attendance was ABYSMAL last year.

It was? How many does Fenway seat?

Fenway sucks for football, there’s no usual day-of events like normal bowls, it’s just a very mid bowl. When you throw in the weather too it’s a no-brainer why no P4 teams want to go here.

But we still gotta show up…
I agree but at the same time the program still isn't in a spot where people are gonna travel for a mid/lower level bowl game in FL or NC or wherever sadly

Yep. Not to mention P4 wants to keep the high paying games for themselves. Regardless still have to show up as a team and fanbase.

The infamous 10-win season isn’t insignificant.

My biggest concern is that Army should be at fuller strength since I assume no players on Arny would sit the game out. Not so sure about UConn and the players who plan to enter the portal and Bell and Joe.
This. Army will treat it like the Super Bowl.

I want a blow out and I'm really not trying to sound arrogant about it and mean no disrespect to Army we are due to beat them let's do it.
Army lost to an FCS team to begin the season. This is not an unreasonable take

People need to get a grip. This is one of the best paying and prominent bowls a g5 can get into. And the date/ time is more in line with all the important bowls, on the espn flagship for lots of eyes

Army is renowned nationally no matter what, and this years version gives us a good chance at 10 wins and maybe even close to a top 25 finish. We were lucky to get it last year, and yes we are lucky to get it this year. Most years we would be in Myrtle Beach playing Coastal Carolina or Marshall making 500,000 and spending it all on travel and logistics.
It's a prominent G5 bowl because it usually means playing an ACC team. This year, we're taking the place of the ACC team so it's not really that impressive. Issue is that we have already played in it just last year and the opponent is not big enough to convince our top players to not opt out.

I would be surprised if Army doesn't turn out reasonably well. We may set a new attendance record for this bowl with fewer UConn fans than last year.

Buy tickets through UConn and not Ticketmaster. We need to buy up the allotment
What’s the best way to purchase tix if it’s doubtful you’ll be going to game? I won’t know for sure ifor another week but want to help support UConn.

This looks like a same-day trip for me. Hotels on first look are twice what I paid last year.
Stay in Framingham or other town on the MBTA line. Cheaper and easier in and out of the city

It was the largest Fenway Bowl in history by many thousands. That is not abysmal by definition.
I didn't realize the attendance numbers they had on record and I did notice it was more attended than Cincy v. Louisville which I also went to, but there is absolutely no way that an extra 10k people were inside the stadium last year. I would have guessed a few thousand at most.
