Some detail on Meg:

7-14 shooting overall, 6-11 inside the arc, 1-3 from the arc, 7-8 on FTs, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block.

Very roughly for the season, she is shooting 50% overall, 35% from the arc, and 90% from the line. I'll take my chances on her at the FT line anytime.

Her team led 41-28 at the half, but had a very bad (5-20) third quarter.

To be more precise on Meg's season shooting stats ... She sat out a rout and has played 5 games. Monacan is 6-0 and ranked 10th nationally. Norcross was rated 6th before their loss to Monacan.

2-pt. FGs: 41-77 for .532

3-pt. FGs: 8-27 for .297

Overall: 49-104 for .471

FTs: 32-35 for .914 (note that she is getting 7 FTAs per game despite sitting out late in some games)

Finally! a couple of Charli Collier updates.

Collier scored 24 points last Friday (12/16) and 30 points in 3 quarters played on Monday (12/19). Barbers Hill won both games in routs.

Megan Walker and Monacan advanced to the Crescom Classic title game on Wednesday (12/21).

Walker was held in check from the field (3-10) but hit 11-12 free throws, all in the 2nd half, to finish with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Walker, 17 pt. 8 rebounds, 11/12 FT leads Monacan against 6-4, and #1 2017 post Olivia Adoba-Nelson in the finals. Coombs, loser to that team by 5, had 25 pt., 13 rebounds, 6/7 FT to lead her team into the 3rd place game. Megan lost more height. I'll now say 5-11 1/2. On the first 5 possessions, she played high post, corner, low post, right guard, point. Very versatile.

Meg's shooting was 3-7 inside the arc and 0-3 outside the arc. She added 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. She continues to shoot over 90% on FTs.

Rough finale for Mikayla Coombs today (12/22) at the Crescom Classic. 8 points, 2 steals on 3-10 shooting as Wesleyan lost their 5th place game.

Coombs did get named to the tourney team beforehand though.

Megan Walker and Monacan won the Crescom tourney after defeating Winder-Barrow 54-49 in a game that appears to have been pretty ugly. Monacan got outshot 41% to 29% but had 22 more field goal attempts.

Walker was 8-25 from the field, finishing with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.

I'm guessing Olivia Nelson-Ododa was swarmed as she had just 7 FG attempts and 8 turnovers. She did score 16 points and grab a staggering 22 rebounds.

Monacan (VA) vs Winder-Barrow (GA) (12-22-16 at Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center)

Despite her struggles the last two games Walker was still named tourney MVP.

Mikayla Coombs was reportedly doubled most of the game yesterday (12/22) which might explain her struggles.

Megan Walker the QB. It could have turned out Nelson Odoba the MVP and her team wins, late in the game. Down five, and weaving through traffic, Megan Walker makes a long three. A steal, and instant replay. So, in ten seconds, from down five to up one- sounds very UCONNish to me. With seconds left, Megan is set to in-bound the ball under her own basket against a furious full-court press. She looks around, up-fakes her defender, and launches a full-court rainbow that settles into the arms of her teammate. She's immediately fouled and that was about the game.

MW is very much Maya like...
Yeah, she doesn't have Maya's personality, but she's about the same height and very agile. Maya was stronger and had a better 3-point shot, but Meg has a better handle and is a superior FT shooter. She also gets to the line a lot. Her shot reminds me of Ray Allen's a little.
