As I recall, the Southington B&W games were fundraisers (for scholarships?). Lots of schools had intra-squad fundraisers until the NCAA shot them down. I had been to a few, but the last one I remember was in 1985. Not sure if that was the last year for them; there may have been others. After the game, my daughter and I got an autograph from new freshman, Cliff Robinson, who hadn't played a real game yet for UConn. He was sitting on the floor of the SHS court giving autographs. I still have it . . . someplace.I vaguely remember hearing something about this, but I don't know any details. What was the deal? The UConn basketball teams played scrimmages at SHS? What years? Why Southington? Just curious since I grew up there.

All the players were approachable. It was a different time.
