Courant projections:

Wed, Dec 18 - Boca Raton Bowl vs. Rutgers

Mon, Dec 23 - Myrtle Beach Bowl vs. NIU

Thu, Dec 26 - Game Above Sports Bowl (Detroit) vs Miami (OH)

Thu, Dec 26 - 68 Ventures Bowl (Mobile, AL) vs Louisiana-Monroe
if those are our only choices, give me Rutgers, please. If there are more choices, I would like a B12 team for UConn to play against.

If we want to snowball momentum into next season and prove that UConn is back, losing in a Bowl game isn't the way to do it. We need a similar strength G4

Oh, please. Like beating Louisiana Monroe is gonna create momentum. Hahaha!!

We get it, unless we land in a spot reasonably similar to the Rose Bowl and our opponent is Southern Cal, Texas or some other historic program, it won't be good enough.

Guess what, if you don't want to go to the bowl game you can do something else, you just don't need to gripe about every little thing.

As much as getting a better bowl against a P4 team would be exciting and get more exposure, there’s also something to be said about getting a decent bowl location (like Boca) and playing a G5 team we have a better chance at beating. I don’t think we can complain either way. Now, if it’s the day after Christmas in Alabama against a ULM type team, then we complain lol

Winning is the name of the game. High school juniors and sophomores won't remember who you beat, but they will remember that you won a bowl game.
I don’t think they will but maybe? I’m not sure who wine the Cure Bowl last year. Are you? Going to a bowl is important if only to show you are a winning program. It’s probably better to win than lose but it doesn’t make that much difference, especially 3 years from now.

Who is griping? I just stated a preference as did you. And I said Rutgers would be fine. Did that sound like the Rose Bowl against Southern Cal or Texas to you? Sheesh.

Ah, the expert on what high school kids remember. I'll defer to your superior judgement I guess.

He's holding out for us to play against the Dallas Cowboys in the new Arlington Bowl...

Who's griping? Seriously?

I quoted two of your posts criticizing projected matchups and your responses displayed absolute disdain towards them.

Yes, I exaggerated a bit for effect but you are being completely disingenuous if you are claiming that all you were doing was offering an opinion.

Yes, the football program has quite a distance to go to reach the levels that we want them to compete at consistently. I'm not sure what good it does anyone to gripe about how far we need to go during every step along the path.

as unlikely as a matchup with Texas Tech is, i'd sign up for that in a heartbeat.
The pessimist in me looks at the outcome as:
  • we win and TTU gets mad at us and votes against us the next time it name is floated for CR
  • we lose and TTU votes against us anyway saying we didn't belong as we didn't compete in a "tryout" match
Of course we could tie, then no bad feelings...?

Ties are no longer a possibility in college football

i don't think anyone is that petty. Teams win and lose every week and actually I'd see this as an amazing opportunity to show the Big 12 we can hang with their own.

This CR thing is only about money. Texas and Oklahoma had an easier path to a conference championship in the Big 12, but conference championships dont' matter to them. the path to CFP is bigger in the SEC, and even if they never win the conference, they make oodles of cash just being in the club. So, i dont' think a win or loss is what would change TTU's vote for us. All that matters is , does UConn's addition put more money in my pocket. If yes, welcome home huskies. If no, there's the door, losers.

2nd, I wouldn't be surprised if TTU or any mid to better P4 club benched many of their starters if they got paired up against UConn. In which case, a UConn win is meaningless (except to us), cuz we only beat their scrubs. If that happens, we'd better not lose to them.

(for the record, I still think it's worth playing a P4 bowl team's scrubs, OVER a G5 team. As others point out, no one tracks who played in a game, only W/L. Having a P4 scrub win is still good optics, when folks look back at history books during next round of conf realignment)

Winning the actual game doesn't matter that much but better win than lose. When someone or some conference looks at our record and it says 9-4 - or better yet 10-3 - instead of 8-5 it matters on the margins. We win at Cuse and we have a chance at a 10-win season; never thought that would be the case this soon.

So, why don't you reply to one of my posts. I really don't know what you are talking about.

I replied to two of them, that's what set you off.

So I am supposed to get excited about a bowl game with Louisiana Monroe or USF? You can have the last word.
I'll take the last word.

The answer is, "yes, you are supposed to get excited". The reason is because we haven't had a winning record in a decade.

You're the guy who just cleared up his pimple problem and thinks that means he deserves a date with Charlize Theron...

Well, he might not but I SURE DO ... LOL :)

Don't need the last word so please feel free to respond.

You're supposed to react however you want to react. My problem is with what appears to be negativity to the point of overkill on your part.

If you don't believe that we are making sufficient progress, fine. Most who feel that would just say something like "I was expecting a better bowl game" or "I was expecting a better opponent". You decided to say "meh" then "Oh, please. Like beating Louisiana Monroe is gonna create momentum. Hahaha!!".

You are allowed to disagree with others (in fact. your 'oh please' response did just that). You also need to accept that others may disagree with you (my response that somehow both startled and offended you).

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this incessant negativity. It almost appears to be trolling from a fan of another program (although you've been around far too long for that to be the case). I know you want to see us beat P-4 (or what they're referred to now) schools, but when someone listed our 2026 opponents, your response was that you didn't believe we would be ready for that. Tell me then, what's the answer?

The last word is indeed yours.
