I think we will be fine without Skyler. Loved his play, but as season went on he seemed, well, different. Coincide with reach outs from other programs? We will never know, but I like our depth at wr, assuming we can have a qb rise to the occasion

skyler bell had nearly 800 yards and 4 TDs on the year, i keep hearing. if i recall, 3 of those TDs were vs. buffalo, a game that fell off the rails quickly.

he made some good/needed catches in games he didn't score in. that is true, too.

point being, was he as productive as it feels?
Id have liked to have him back, but if my above is accurate, I don't think this loss will be as painful as it seems.

I think a lot of the pain comes from what could be as opposed to what was. TDs can be fairly random, but 800 yards in a passing game like we had is nothing to scoff at. I believe the pain comes from people believing he merely scratched the surface this year and improvement at QB (either internal or external) could unlock a receiving weapon UConn has not had in many, many years. In my opinion the whole WR core and passing attack as a whole felt like it was scratching the surface and I am hopeful that it will become more consistent and better overall next year with or without Bell (but I sure would like to keep Bell).

If UConn had some QB consistency and producing great throwing numbers, I doubt he leaves unless he is doing it just for the $.

What is *PWO
preferred walk on

Preferred walk-ons arrive to college with a roster spot guaranteed for them. Walk-ons, however, arrive to college without a guaranteed roster spot. Neither preferred walk-ons nor walk-ons receive a scholarship their first year on campus. They both have the opportunity to compete for them in later years, but preferred walk-ons are often first in line for available scholarships.

I know I was on the Bell was gone train, but today looked sure as heck like he was invested here.....my hope for a return has been restored. I'm hoping it's a situation of both sides coming to an agreement over money.
Bell looked good. He only had one drop that I remember. And I noticed he wore gloves.
