Nothing in that article indicates he is gone.
Never said he was. Just saying if UM hosted him, they have interest and if they do, you can bet other higher level programs do too. Those are programs we have no business even being mentioned in the same sentence in when it comes to being to compete for him in terms of NIL. I give his chance to return .0000%. I hope I eat crow.

Wait, what? Didn’t his dad rave about program this year?

We so desperately need to get into the B12. Won't keep everyone, but the fringe guys probably stick around if they're starters on a power conference team. Replacing the entire starting units every season will not lead to consistent success.

I’m rapidly changing my thinking. It’s all about money. B12 and ACC are only a little better off than us in this environment. We need money from NIL donors more than we need a P4. Sec and B10 are taking over all sports at a rapid pace.

I am truly confused and really trying to follow. In your original post with the article you wrote “looks like he is gone”. When the next poster said the article did not say that you replied “never said he was”. What other meaning could your first post words have?

I generally think the same regarding the ACC. But this could be changing as there are reports that Duke is paying Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah $8M total over two seasons to play for them.

I meant I wasn't saying he was officially gone. More generally speaking that there's no way we're getting him back with that level of interest.

At one time many of the athletes used a scholarship as a way to fund college, except for athletes at the Melo-like level. Now it 5-6 years of NIL money and virtual classes that you cannot fail.

I think we will be fine without Skyler. Loved his play, but as season went on he seemed, well, different. Coincide with reach outs from other programs? We will never know, but I like our depth at wr, assuming we can have a qb rise to the occasion

skyler bell had nearly 800 yards and 4 TDs on the year, i keep hearing. if i recall, 3 of those TDs were vs. buffalo, a game that fell off the rails quickly.

he made some good/needed catches in games he didn't score in. that is true, too.

point being, was he as productive as it feels?
Id have liked to have him back, but if my above is accurate, I don't think this loss will be as painful as it seems.

I think a lot of the pain comes from what could be as opposed to what was. TDs can be fairly random, but 800 yards in a passing game like we had is nothing to scoff at. I believe the pain comes from people believing he merely scratched the surface this year and improvement at QB (either internal or external) could unlock a receiving weapon UConn has not had in many, many years. In my opinion the whole WR core and passing attack as a whole felt like it was scratching the surface and I am hopeful that it will become more consistent and better overall next year with or without Bell (but I sure would like to keep Bell).

If UConn had some QB consistency and producing great throwing numbers, I doubt he leaves unless he is doing it just for the $.

this makes a lot of sense. thanks

What is *PWO
preferred walk on

Preferred walk-ons arrive to college with a roster spot guaranteed for them. Walk-ons, however, arrive to college without a guaranteed roster spot. Neither preferred walk-ons nor walk-ons receive a scholarship their first year on campus. They both have the opportunity to compete for them in later years, but preferred walk-ons are often first in line for available scholarships.

I know I was on the Bell was gone train, but today looked sure as heck like he was invested here.....my hope for a return has been restored. I'm hoping it's a situation of both sides coming to an agreement over money.

Bell looked good. He only had one drop that I remember. And I noticed he wore gloves.
