Still amazes me that Haley Jones didn't make the U19 team.

And after NaLyssa Smith withdrew, Diamond Miller was the replacement, not Haley Jones.

Some Stanford fans said she did not stand out in the McD's game. Then she was MVP of the Jordan game soon after. I could see her being the time of player that can go quiet and defer to others at times, as she doesn't seem to have the "killer instinct" just yet. So maybe an off performance at trials.

But pretty exciting for Stanford to have their likely future starting front court Belibi and Brink simply make the USA team together. And 2021 commit Brooke Demetre almost gives them another Haley Jones—a versatile wing who might not be as athletic but a little taller at 6'3" and perhaps a better 3-point shooter.

Stanford will be as loaded if not even more so than their 2009-2012 seasons, though like those teams perhaps a little thin at guard.

In Sunday's Australia victory, UConn POI Gemma Potter had 12 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals. She was 4/7 from the field and 2/5 from three.

just some thoughts. for several years we recruited the best talent in USA for UConn women. It was about the same time Coach G was the head coach at USA teams and the Olympic team. Access = recruits???

I would agree that this team could use Jordan Horston. She was, IMO, the best on U17, but that was a really talented team at every position. Horston led in efficiency and assists, was second in rebounds, and third in scoring. That team had elite talent and size and/or athleticism at every position.
Another thought, though not impressed with Jeff’s coaching (and I wasn’t at U18 either) this team also might look a little different if Christyn, Olivia, and NaLyssa decided to play. Don’t think they necessarily would have had huge impacts if they even made the team, but Rickea Jackson and Zia Cooke both would have fought for a spot too.
This is not just your opinion, Horston was MVP of that U17 tournament. Three (Horston, Jones & Fudd) of best players from U17 and four ( Smith, Williams, ONO & Prince) of the better players from U18 are not playing here. This team would have a completely different look.

I can also remember some BY posters writing that Geno's commitment to the National team was hindering his recruiting efforts and were glad when those duties ended.

An awesome first quarter for Paige:

Five assists, two of them of the highlight-reel variety, three 3's including one at the buzzer from 35 feet, a jumper, and a highlight blocked shot. Would've had 6 assists if not for a blown layup.

Paige looks poised. US looks more like a team that has practiced than in the other 2 games.

Walz doesn't want to take Paige off the floor, and I don't blame him.

Paige finishes her half with a driving layup past her defender.

57-20 US at halftime.

Walz is no dummy. He took Paige out about 3 minutes into the second half and she never returned.

95-50 the final

Paige was fantastic. Completely dominant and in control from the very beginning. Smart play after smart play. What post would not want to play with her.

Feel bad for Canada, lots of young prospects but can’t seem to string it all together.
Lucky alot of the young girls are 02 born and will be able to play in 2021.

She started, but picked up a quick foul, was taken out early, then picked up another foul.

Also her pull-up jumper at 26:26.

Hey Carl, we could use an 'Assist' tracker since that is perhaps the best part of her game which is saying something.

USA will most likely play Germany in the round of 16. Providing they win, they'll play the winner of the Canada vs Argentina game. Canada should win that game.
