For our S Carolina readers:

Raoul‏@Raoul_000
WBB: During an unofficial visit today, South Carolina offered Anaya Peoples, 5-8 G, Schlarman Acad. (IL-2019) / Best Choice United AAU.

I like Peoples a lot. She's a slasher with a quick first step and a solid midrange game. I think she has a few more inches of growth as well. Best Choice United is a really solid AAU program in Indiana. It's also the program that gave us Tyasha Harris. SC offered Katlyn Gilbert about a year ago who also plays for Best Choice. All three are really good friends.. In 2019 SC could have a back court of Harris, Gilbert and Peoples :D

What strikes this as interesting to me is we hear certain fans talk about how distasteful it is when other coaches promise siblings scholarships to help recruit ( Tori McCoy for example). Isn't this the same thing? Guess glasses change color depending on who is wearing them. #therightway <<insert eye roll>>

And I see nothing wrong with offering lesser talented siblings a scholarship in order to secure the talents of the more talented player. The scholarships are there to be used and most programs has a scholarship or two to burn every year.

I kind of suspect that Baylor offered Trinity Oliver a scholarship as a little insurance to decrease the chances of Jordyn Oliver changing her mind about going to Baylor before 2019 rolls around. Trinity is a nice little player but just doesn't strike me as the type of player that Mulkey could be landing at this point.

But I guess you can't have an entire roster of top 10 players or someone is going to get frustrated about playing time, which may happen with Brown, Mompremier and Cox at some point.

At least they're upfront about it. I haven't heard anything yet about Hayes' official visit or whether SC has offered the other siblings. Will be interesting to see what Dawn does here.
No kidding 'up front': "So when Anastasia makes a visit to South Carolina this weekend, she'll have an important question for coach Dawn Staley. "So what are you waiting for?"

Also note: "Despite her bright future, Hayes has sometimes been lost in the shadow of former Blackman (Murfreesboro) star guard Crystal Dangerfield, a three-time Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year who is now a freshman at Connecticut. Blackman had beaten Riverdale seven straight times before Riverdale finally got revenge last year.

It happened March 1 in the Class 3A regional semifinals. Riverdale eliminated the two-time defending state champions 73-66. Dangerfield was "held" to 20 points while Hayes had the game of her life: 28 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds.

"[Dangerfield] came up to me after the game and hugged me," Hayes said. "She told me to 'finish it.' "

A little help here.........If UConn could only sign 1 more player for 2017, and two from 2018, who in your opinion does Geno covet most?

Some of you must not have seen Nelson-Ododa play yet.

I've seen her.........I'd be very happy with her too..........there are probably 4 or 5 others that would be excellent pickups...............bottom line a good combo guard (hedging my bets) and a big body would be nice to have along with Ms. Walker

In all actuality, there's nothing wrong with it. I can see where it bothers some though. The line is drawn when schools hire certain people to secure a certain player.

In this situation, if the other two Hayes sisters are talented enough to merit a scholarship then this is especially a non-issue for me.

There is a difference. Hayes' sisters are actually good enough already to have top schools looking at them, not just in the SEC, but Big12 and ACC as well. McCoy's sister was getting looked at by Marquette.

Dan Olson had this to say about them: "'No. 1, to find a single player — whether they have sisters or not — as talented as Anastasia Hayes is a game-changer," said Dan Olson, who runs Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and is director of ESPNW Hoopgurlz. "Then you realize she has a sister, and another sister, and then another sister — and all of them can play. It's not a common thing by any means.

"I'd venture to say this situation is an abnormality. The only other family in recent memory that comes close to this, or surpasses it, is the Ogwumike family from Houston."

This was not said about the McCoy and her sister.

Count me as among the "some" that this bothers because the proposed "package" deal includes a 12 year.
" Anastasia is a senior at Riverdale. Her sister Aislynn is a sophomore at Riverdale; her sister Alasia is a freshman at Riverdale; and her sister Acacia is a 12-year-old."

BTW this is not me saying the package deal part the title of the article is: Elite recruit Anastasia Hayes goes school shopping for four:

That's specifically why I said the other TWO Hayes sisters. I think it's a little too early to be including the 12 year old in this. The other two though are old to be recruited off their own merits. If Dawn sees fit that the other two are D1 caliber then I'm not too upset by this. Must mean Dawn really likes what she sees in Hayes.

I think Hayes is great but I've always wanted Carter from this class. I will be more than happy with Hayes though. Unfortunately, she has googily eyes for Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Good find, Charlie. Hard for me to imagine Patterson actually choosing St. John's unless staying home is her #1 priority. The Tenn. fans believe they are the favorite. I know Parker is her favorite player but, to state the obvious, she won't be playing with Parker. Nor will she be coached by Pat Summitt.

EDIT - found this longer post from Mullen elsewhere. I hope it's ok to post here:

"Spoke with my good friend Lamont Patterson yesterday after Danielle Patterson's Unofficial Visit to St. Johns yesterday. He said the visit was excellent. They have visited both St. Johns and Virginia and are impressed with both schools. They are also impressed with ND and Tenn. No decisions will be made until the two official visits with ND Tenn take place. Appears Danielle will have a very difficult decision. She likes all 4-schools and their perspective coaches. There are no leaders right now."

Thanks, Charlie for the initial post.

Orangutan: any idea when Patterson is set to visit? Pretty certain that Ms. Walker and Ms. Westbrook are both coming Sept. 23 -25 (Duke Football weekend) but ND board has ideas on when.

My feelings on UT are pretty much the same: the situation there is not the one Parker played at, that's for sure. However, if Daneille thinks it is the right place for her, well, all the best. We'll see...

The Hayes sisters are getting a lot of attention from D-1 schools. Several schools, including Tennessee, have indicated that they will make offers to Anastasia's three younger sisters--provided they work hard and make the grade. I agree that a formal offer of any kind to a pre-teen player in the Class of 2022 is totally inappropriate. Some area AAU coaches, however, have expressed the opinion that the youngest sister may have the greatest potential based on her performance to date. Ole Miss is the school to beat in the competition for A. Hayes. The Ole Miss coach is the son of the long-time women's coach at Middle Tennessee State U. in Murfreesboro (the sisters' hometown) and has been pursuing Anastasia for a very long time.

It's been almost a year since I'd heard anything about LaDazhia and South Carolina (in home visit last year). I totally thought she'd moved on from SC. Props to her for keeping her recruitment under tight wraps..

FSU and OSU likely lead here no doubt. Her AAU program pushes in state schools and her coach loves Ohio State (FGB AAU camps there every year).
