Either Cronin and the rest of the people at Cincy are like Calhoun with the offseason superlatives (Ajou Ajou Deng) or Broome has improved. They say Broome is being given the keys and they are making Van Exel comparisons.

He's not going to be Van Exel but I expect him to be good.

He'll be fine, but he's jumping way up and they're going to need him to become a point guard.

When he was up here in March, Cronin mentioned that he had to help Broome get his turnovers down and his three-point shooting up. With Cumberland and Clark, he's not going to have to lead them in scoring, but he will have to get them the ball.

He better be able to defend with Jalen, rique, cv and tremont coming at him. Not even mentioning anderson

Wonder what went down with KO this year...
There was one thing in particular that happened this past season that could have tipped everyone off that things were going south from a coaching perspective as it relates to the team concept and its various dynamics.

In retrospect it gives this tough offseason some pretty clear context. I think certain things that happened acted as a breeding ground for the situation to manifest itself into internal problems that KO ultimately found out were not salvageable. It could have been worse.

The good thing is despite all the bad news...UConn could still have one of the top 10 back courts in the country next year from a personal perspective if Gilbert comes back 100%. That alone may be good enough to get a Tourney bid if JA comes into his own as a team leader staring this offseason.

Also striking paydirt on the recruiting front is still viable with the fluidity of the grad transfer market and the Waters decision looming. If we can close on at least one of the two with the GT being of the impact variety then momentum will have gained enough traction to have some real sustainable hope for a solid season.

You have the answer to meaning of life as a UCONN fan and you aren't sharing it with us!! Come on man give it up

Nothing in the Courant articles was that bad. He was hard on the players after losses - big deal, you think every major D1 coach isn't the same way. He shut out his assistants and JC, didn't go see MAL after the commitment - not sure current players care about this.

There is something else here, has to be. You don't lose 3 out 4 guys for the reasons that are currently out there (yes 4, the 3 injured guys and JA aren't incentivized to transfer and sit out this year no matter what).

If KO did something soooo egregious i wish ppl would just spit it out so we all could make a judgement. Having to assume is never a good idea

How about someone like Tyler Olander. Would Ollie have offered Olander? I just did a google search, here's a 6 8 center from fairfield prep who averaged 20 points and 15 boards. Do we even look at someone like this? maybe as a preferred walk on? Put him in the weight room and redshirt him a year. How about the kid from Bunnell who went to Maine? Blew that one big time not once but twice.

Harrar was Ewing in comparison it would seem. Nope! Nice HS player probably.

Friend of mine did a piece on Waters last year. After spending a day with the kid he told me Duke and Kansas were his top choices ..... and UConn was way down the list

If you want your dream to come true..............wake up!

Keep on shinin' your light
Gonna make everything, everything
Gonna make everything all right
And I ain't got no worries
'Cause I ain't in no hurry at all

I think they have. There aren't a ton of stud recruits from CT. The premise would be better if you said we need to focus on recruiting the best kids from CT, MA, RI which I think we have been trying to do, at least sometimes. Who are the highest rated CT kids of recent memory? Waters, Heron, Enoch, Drummond. Not too many, I am sure I am missing a name or two.

Wasn't Murray a top recruit FWIW? Before my time, but I am not sure that is the example for avoiding unused scholarships.
dont forget about olander!!!!!

The same guy also said this regarding tremont and UConn fwiw:

It's not worth much. probably another no one pretending to be an insider.

I have a really hard time believing AD DB would allow KO to single handedly destroy the UConn brand by being the root of multiple issues.
