Univ of MD asst head coach Shay Robinson just went there a couple weeks ago

It must have been Robinson's "dream job" just like all the other coaches Frese got rid of. (threw under the bus). She gets rid of coaches almost every year with a BS reason they left....NE State U was always their dream school.

Yet recruits buy they are one happy family.

While I would have liked an elite post/forward joining our team and really like Austin skill set having watched her in person 8-10 times at Maryland, something always seemed a tad off to me and this last page of posts has provided clarity that she would not fit into the UConn culture. I wish her the best and hope she finds happiness and inner peace. Next available option... ;)

If you are speaking of the BY post there is anything but clarity as it relates to Austin & UCONN. There has been just more irresponsible speculation. The height of the irresponsibility was the speculation that Geno "passed" on Austin. Full story: Austin followed her former assistant coach to Ole Miss. Someone please point me to the chapter of the story where UCONN is mention.

We don't need any transfer players. Most don't work out. Hopefully, Evina will.
Geno typically does not bring in transfers but when he does, we have had positive results. Always wondered what Butler could have done without her broken thumb but she did provide great backup post help in several critical games. Azura was a #1 draft choice based on her performance. Even if you felt she had issues, she was one of the best 6th men in college basketball. Now tell me again why you would not want someone with these skills?

No, I am talking about HER posts on social media. Plus the fact she was removed from the starting lineup due to some missed meetings and an attitude issue which had appeared to have been resolved until the transfer portal and her unique comments.

For those who don't frequent the General board, here is my current list of "significant" transfers. (I keep this list current at the top of the "2020 offseason transfers" thread there.)

Slim pickings with the grad transfers, and even slimmer when you narrow the search to players above 6'0".

Of the 78 players I've listed, just over half (42) have announced their destination school. Keep in mind, however, that this is only a fraction of all D1 players in the portal, who at last count exceeded 500.

I want to keep making the case that UCONN should take a look at Lucy Cochrane Australian transfer from Oregon.
She is tall 6'6" ish capable of playing center or power forward.
She is a good passer from the high post on kickouts and post entry.
She plays very well along side another big as with Ezi from this 2017 video.
She did not get many minutes at Oregon because Oregon was stacked, In her minutes she was productive and shot 62%.
She is very mobile for those that insist that UCONN is going uptempo next season.
She has a nice mid range game for the 8-12 footer and shows the ability to extend that range on occasion.
What I like best is that she plays tall and uses every inch of her height to her advantage on rebounds, on defense blocking shots and on the looks she get from the high post.
Being a defensive bigot I really really like the defense sequence that start at the 25 sec mark of this video where Lucy picks up the point guard at the top of the key stay with her all the way to the basket comes away with the block and the ball-That is elite defense for any player especially a big.
Thoughts?

Referring to the chart, but not wanting to paste something that long..... it says D. Mabrey to ND. I hadn't seen that posted anywhere yet. I assume that will be her destination, but did I miss an announcement?

@Dillon77 you can thank me later. If there is not already a buzz on the ND board you probably need to start one. Taylor Mikesell would be and outstanding pickup for ND! if I remember correctly there was mutual interest with ND when she was coming out of HS.

In his chat with Rebecca, Geno said he has talked to a few kids. I bet Cochrane is one of them. If she can get immediate eligibility for 20-21, I think she is skilled enough to help. If she has to redshirt, with DeBarry and then Brady coming, do they really need another player like this? Would be great if there was room.

Yup...I remember that mutual interest, as well, but -- if memory holds -- Mikesell committed to Maryland farily early.

As I posted somewhere on the 'yard, I really like her game and the way she helped the Terps, from shooting to calm presence. She didn't play as much PG (it seemed) this year, perhaps due to Owusu, but she averaged around 6 assista per game her freshman year. And the 3 pt. shooting percentages ar excellent...+40%

Wondering why such a big exodus from Auburn players?

I see a lot of schools with multiple transfers.
Big Ten leading the pack with 6 schools losing two or more transfers.
(Maryland 3, Wisconsin 2, Indiana 2, Penn St 2, Nebraska 2, Illinois 2)

Followed by SEC with 5 schools
(Auburn 4, Tennessee 2, Ole Miss 2, Miss St. 2, Arkansas 2)

I would keep liking this a thousand times if I could and certainly hope our 2nd effort with an Aussie big turns out better than our last effort. My only real concern is Kelly is similar to Geno (and the two of them are fairly close) so if Lucy didn't see a future with Kelly, why would she see a future with Geno and our incoming recruits? I do know the NCAA was scheduled to meet yesterday to talk about the immediate transfer eligibility and then vote on it during the May 20th meeting for effect THIS FALL. Do we know if any of the coaches/team are following Lucy or if Lucy is following any of UConn's team/coaches on the various social media apps? That would be a positive indication of interest.
I whole heartedly agree Lucy is probably the only one left in the portal I would consider. I don't want Mikesell or Slocum but ND is free to get both and little Mabry. Anyone under 5'10" is allowed to go to ND....

That is a fair question. I would answer yes for these reasons. UCONN is still in the mix to get Kiki Iriafen who would come in as PF with DeBerry. UCONN getting Iriafen would negate alll that follows. I'm projecting that either DeBerry or Iriafen would have to start as a Freshman at PF if UCONN is going to be a title contending team. Edwards, Griffin, Makurat, McLean are all SF sized and skilled. Adding Lucy to the roster would give you an insurance policy against not getting Iriafen. If eligible Lucy could be a starter in 20-21 season if there is one. Lucy being a starter in 20-21 would allow you to not have to start DeBerry, Poffenbarger, Iriafen or Brady when they are freshmen in the season you are expected to contend (favored?) to win a Championship.

In my opinion, Edwards is strong and physical enough to play the 4. I hope they have enough bigs to develop DeBerry slowly while she gets stronger. As thin as Cochrane is, I can't tell if she can handle the bigger, stronger 5s. Could she guard Boston for example? (I know, can anybody?).

Finally, I refuse to acknowledge that there may not be a 20-21.

That's Baby Mabrey to you, hrrumphh! :)

@CocoHusky reminded me that Ms. Mikesell and ND had a spat of "mutual interest" before she committed to Maryland, ND stayed in Ohio and went in the other direction with ball-hawking defensive whiz Abby Prohaska (who we very much missed this year while she recovered from illness).

ND has a mess of off guards and wings/small forwards coming back next year and they're seemingly trying to go after another off-guard in 2021. (So far, no commitments, but MM has said they're aiming for the sky, which tells you the kind of players they're after.)

So, where would guards like Mikesell, Mabrey or Slocum (although I'm not sold on that one) fit in?

Well, right now MM's plan for lead guard next year is to split it between returning off-guard Katlyn Gilbert and incoming frosh Alasia Hayes. Then, go after a point guard hard in 2021 (Olivia Miles or Ari Wiggins, perhaps?). If the NCAA can ever get around to deciding if and when first-time transfers could immediately play, that would be helpful.

If approved for 2020-21, I could see Mabrey or Mikesell helping the Irish for two years, working with Hayes and the incoming frosh, leaving Gilbert to impnrove on her pretty good first full year at off guard.

If not approved until 2021, maybe Slocum, who has graduated and can play immediately. Still, if Destiny was uncomfortable playing as a facilitator for Rueck, I can't see her being given free rein under Muffet. That's not what MM wants (see Allen, Lindsay).

Lucy Cochrane initially caught my eye, but I'm not sure we need another like her, given Danielle Cosgrove's slow development. Plus we've got will o' the wisp Nat Marshall coming in at 6'5". If we go after any transfer post, I'd be interested in Maryland transfer Olivia Owens. The Irish could use a post to back up Mik Vaughn and provide paint oover for Marshall and ND's wings, Sam Brunelle and Kat Westbeld.

The thrown-off timing makes things even crazier....while some top recruits are deciding to go all in, some might like to, you know, see a coach and campus face to face? Imagine! :)

Agree 100% CocoHusky - She would have an immediate impact (should she, and all of the others transfers, be given permission to immediately play in the 2020/2021 season, which I suspect will happen). This would be a "No Brainer" as she appears to be the type of player that fits well into a "Geno Style" of game.

Thought this was being delayed until next year because of The Rona?
