Transfer Stats - Jackson, Durham & Enoch

That stat popped out to me too. Durham very good, Vance not so much.

But, hey, this is what I said 2 years ago anyway. I didn't really care about losing Vance or Enoch, but I thought Durham was going to be a big loss. He has offensive skills, and he has very long arms so could be a defensive force, if he could get some strength down there.
Maybe long term upside but lasts years team missed in the following order:
Jackson.: Number 1 issue on offense was a third or 4th option for Jaylen
Enoch: certainly couldn’t be worse than what we had playing in the post.
DO was a good guy but no BB player and Carlton was a kid.
Durham: Was a non presence on a team whose number one sub was Vital
He apparently wasn’t recovered. Two ACL’s is tough to come back from.
But it’s almost 4 years in the past now and he is still young .
His last Competition before UConn (2016-17 )was Feb 2015.

I was never a fan of Enoch, thought he played matador defense, never knew where to be. At least as a Soph, I didn't think he was better than what we had last year, and if you count his offense, he may have been worse (i.e. he had trouble scoring).

Vance started and scored 7 for UNM. Durham off the bench for ND for 6 points and 3 blocks.

It will be interesting to watch these three all year.
out of sight - out of mind. they are history!

Few changes, just to help out...

Brendan Bailey was a 2016 recruit who committed to Marquette and is playing this year after completing his mission.

Ike Obiagu (2017 recruit, FSU) - transferred to Seton Hall (sitting out for year)
David Beatty (2017 recruit, South Carolina) - transferred to La Salle (immediately eligible)
Blake Harris (2017 recruit, Missouri) - transferred to NC State (immediately eligible)
Mustapha Heron (2016 recruit, Auburn) - transferred to St. John's (immediately eligible)
Djery Baptiste (2015 recruit, Vanderbilt) - transferred to UMass (eligible second semester)

Chris Clarke (2015 recruit, Virginia Tech) - suspended and removed from roster
Shawn Olden (2017 JUCO, TCU) - not on roster anymore

Chief said Enoch would put up numbers if used right. Good FG%.
When a guy is misused by his position and head coach - Chief relies on the eye test rather than statistics and this is another validation of that approach.

Really? You're going to pretend we can judge anything by virtue of how he performed in exhibition games against those two schools?

I haven’t really paid attention to this, why are Beatty and Harris immediately eligible?

I remember I really really wanted Chaundee Brown in 2017 and he'll be a good player. And the misses we had in that 2016 class.. woof

Wow, hadn't noticed with our second kid coming in March some of these. I was so butthurt when we missed out on Beatty because we prioritized others (doh!), even though he didn't do much. Must of been homesick/family matter?

I REALLY liked Clarke in the '15 class too. Hopefully he gets his stuff in order and plays this year.

Durham against UIC whoever that is. Stats against Div 2 teams don't count for much but it will be interesting to see how these 3 will perform. Still think Durham is the only one who may be a loss for us.

The University of Illinois-Chicago is a Division I school, a member of the Horizon League.

Yeah, not sure what happened with either of those guys but they were both guys I wanted to. Thought for sure we'd pay for not getting Beatty as a backup to Diallo.

Also two other guys that are still kicking around: RS JR Prince Ali (UCLA) and *drumrollllllll* SR Rakim Lubin (LSU-Shreveport)

Are you saying he had trouble developing? Seems to be a recurring theme . . .

Yes, probably, but still I liked Carlton more back there, who developed more in 1 year than Steven did in 2.

And Steven is also lucky now that he's with Mack, because the Louisville fans were even more negative about their former coach's ability to develop big men than UConn fans.

.-.
I plan to be watching and checking the stats of the guys who are actually playing for the UConn Huskies in 2018/19.
Still salty UConn and Kisunas parted ways, huh?

Really? You're going to pretend we can judge anything by virtue of how he performed in exhibition games against those two schools?
Ok - check back with me in 6 games. Just providing the first snippets of evidence. After all, there is a reason they play exhibition games. Most coaches would say it is an indicator. Agree, not conclusive but part of the mosaic.
Anyway, never bet against Chief’s eye test.

I was a Enoch fan until he left but he was raw .
He was certainly big and strong with a nice soft touch, but needed to work on his foot movement .
Playing for the European team where he shot threes was a wasted summer .
He needed to work on his footwork at a Big Man’s Camp
You play defense with your feet. Many big guys get away with leaning in against smaller prep competition. In college it’s a personal foul. He just couldn’t stay on the floor long enough to contribute much.
Wasn’t Miller our Big Man’s coach?

Kisunas had 2 points & 1 rebound in 5 minutes, Jaiden Delaire had 8 points and 5 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Check out @StanfordMBB’s Tweet:

Pretty sure they made a run in a third rate postseason tournament last year.

You guys are torturing yourselves. Enoch, Jackson, Durham are all good ball players and will develop beyond what we saw under Ollie because of 1) coaching, and 2) maturation. We all saw flashes of their potential. They and/or their handlers were also smart enough jump ship after dealing with Ollie’s issues. Season-long posting of stats from these guys is useless. Hopefullly a strong start to UConn’s season will negate the “what if’s”

They are good talents, and Enoch and Durham are better than the guys who replaced them ... but not as good the guys we hope will commit soon. I won't mind seeing Sid Wilson and Brendan Adams take Vance Jackson's minutes. I look forward to the day Akok and Kofi take the minutes Durham and Enoch could have had.
