Portal has a Large number of centers, most with very good size but limited usage at their prior schools. Here are names that stood out to me: pts/reb/blk

Plus others with almost no #. Should be at least a garnet in the rough in there somewhere.
Kanye from Pitt still available too
Surprised Dain Dainja hasn’t found a spot yet. Played really well towards the end of the year and was a big piece of a Memphis team that made the tournament and probably would have advanced if they were healthy

Does a staff look more carefully at a kid who's looking for his 4th school??

Isaiah Miranda & Papa Kante obviously played in the area and the staff had contact with them in the day. I'm pretty surprised Miranda has accomplished so little. He could shoot the 3 and had pretty good skills years ago to go with 7'1 size. I recall him on the court vs Donovan and doing pretty well at a point before Clingan's conditioning was vastly upgraded. If I recall old threads about him, the way he ended up at a west coast basketball factory suggested his thinking was not aligned with what Hurley values. Multiple stops and lack of production still surprises me. Were there injuries?

I thought he had committed to USC originally, but I don't see that in his history or any 2022-2023 season. Okl St nothing then Green Bay and nothing. A top 40 7'1 recruit that was a deep shooter a la Reibe. There has to be a story

Just did a quick Google search on Isaiah Miranda because you got me interested.

Enrolled at NC State early in Dec 2022 - redshirt & transfer portal in May 2023, before ever playing a game.

Transferred to OK State, 'left the team' in Jan 2024 after a few injuries and just a few minutes played.

Transferred to Green Bay, played a few minutes and 'left the team' in December.

He just committed to LIU the other day.

Quite a journey.

what am I missing on this? guy played 3 years and then redshirted last season while recovering from knee surgery and didn't play at all, how does he not get a 4th year?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but it sounds like the NCAA thinks he was cleared to play last season and he chose to redshirt so the medical waiver was denied

Interesting. I’m wondering how that would be significantly different than Hopkins at PC, now St. John’s.

Hopkins is entering his 5th year, Khalifa is entering his 6th. So it's a slightly different circumstance that the NCAA is reviewing
Guess that explains it then, I looked up his profile and only seen 3 years of actual play, I didn't realize he's been in college that long.

Yeah he redshirted his first year at Charlotte, so he was actually there 3 years. It still seems like a case that should have been approved, but Hopkins is a case of a medical redshirt to play a 5th season, where Khalifa first had to be approved for a 6th season of eligibility, and then apply for a medical redshirt after
