Just like they lost Walter Clayton Jr to Florida
This would have made the Johnnies and Big East happy but instead he’s a Gator and I’m happy

Until Pitino inevitably leaves in a couple years and SJU goes back to being irrelevant.Slick Rick's approach is to bring in a new bunch of mercenaries every year, the opposite of Hurley's approach to program building. I kinda hope it gets picked up and talked about in the media and we all get to see how it plays out under the bright lights. Would make for a great Big East rivalry.
But he is bringing back 2 starters. It's not a totally new team.
That didn't make sense with each other (shot hesitant PG, non-stretch 4, pseudo stretch 5 with bad personality).I mean KU brought back three starters.
Yes.. Now I have real questions if he’s coercing kids into the portal so he can take them himself (curious that Hopkins shut himself down for the season and then committed to St Johns 1 week after entering the portal)
Doesn’t get the name Slick Rick for nothing
I’m really torn with him. I mean he’s a scumbag dating back years but…Pitino is wasting no time getting to work. He’s playing the game very well in the current context of what the game is. Love it or hate it, hes doing it
But it’s funny that just 1 year ago, Pitino was crying about NIL and the transfer portal nonstop. He was doing that while planning to rebuild his entire roster in the portal. Now I have real questions if he’s coercing kids into the portal so he can take them himself (curious that Hopkins shut himself down for the season and then committed to St Johns 1 week after entering the portal)

Providence fans on Friar Talk seem to think so. They soured on Hopkins as soon as he started missing games after playing 3-4 games consecutively in November-December. His last game, off the top of my head, is the game he played against Rhode Island. Keep in mind that is well before Big East play started.Pitino is wasting no time getting to work. IMO, Kansas would have been better off sticking with Zuby. He would've ended up as the better player at Kansas than Hunter Dickinson, and Zuby is a great culture guy, too, like a 10 on a 1-10 scale that makes his teammates better. While Hunter is a 3 on that same scale-his defense is abysmal. That didn't make sense with each other (shot hesitant PG, non-stretch 4, pseudo stretch 5 with bad personality).

I'm happy for you that you love it but I don't think it makes sense to praise a comeback without acknowledging what he is coming back from. There was a reason the only head coaching job he could get was in Europe and it wasn't because nobody in the US thought he couldn't coach.Pitino is doing wonders for New York City basketball. This is the new professional college landscape and Pitino is kicking ass, stacking his roster with the best players he can find. Why all the haters? Dude is good at what he does it's that simple, talk about a comeback. 3 years ago this guy is coaching in Greece, then Iona in the NCAA's, third year here with St. John's and they will be one of the best teams in the nation, and they are AGAIN, an arch rival for us in the BIG EAST. These games this year with them will be killer, I love it.

It's not that simple anymore. It's more like pro sports where your NIL budget is X and anything you spend in free agency comes out of the pocket of your current players. That's why Pitino (same guy who tried to talk Donovan Mitchell into another year of school) has been publicly leading the RJ to the NBA charge since December. He spent the money before RJ even knew what he wanted to do.
Didn’t watch much of Auburn this year outside of the tournament, but the games I did watch I was unimpressed. Throws up so many bad/forced shots. Had a steal against Michigan State up 13 and tried forcing a 1 on 3 fast break which then led to MSU getting right back in the game.Keeping Karaban is my first preference, but if he goes pro, CBM is a perfect plug-in replacement.
I’m not sure Hurleys and CBMs challenges with emotional regulation are great complements to each otherKeeping Karaban is my first preference, but if he goes pro, CBM is a perfect plug-in replacement.
There was a reason why he coached in Greece and then Iona, people tend to forget. I guess winning at all cost cures all.Pitino is doing wonders for New York City basketball.
