Transfer Portal Starting to Load

Small part of me hopes we strike out so we will have to go with Solo out of necessity and end up pretty good for it. Lol

But Nait George is still right there.
Solo panics at the slightest amount of ball pressure and almost never gets downhill off of the dribble… there is no way he’s anything beyond a combo guard and even that is generous. Hes an undersized 2

Even with Duke, it’s 22% because most of the guys are freshmen. Which is easier to get to fall in line with program culture than a transfer that has to forget his past program culture and relearn a new one after previous success with the old one.

Which is why I keep stressing I’d rather have this Solo solve our PG problems than bring in a guy who will most likely struggle his first year like every transfer we’ve had besides Cam lol.

Plus Solo solving that problem would solve the issue of him being small at 2G… giving room for Mullins to start there instead of him having to be small at the 3.
I like the thinking but we can't just pencil that in. Solo hasn't shown enough ability to facilitate yet. His ball handling did improve and Hurley let him bring it up and play PG at times.

Bring in a big PG/CG who can shoot and then figure out the minutes between Solo/Mullins/Transfer/Adams/Mahaney (if he's back). If the guys have enough positional flexibility it will all work out.

Need a forward in the portal as well. I think Ross is more guard than forward. Stewart is a better 4 than 3. A Daniel Hamilton type SF who can handle and who is a ++ facilitator would take a lot of pressure off of our PG. No idea if anybody like that is available. Point forward would be ideal.

He definitely did get better down the stretch. I think he will be fine after a summer of that being his focus. Last summer it seems like he focused on being the best scorer he can be. After a year of seeing what his flaws are I’m confident he will get his handle and playmaking more cleaned up if that’s what the staff advises him to do.

The board will hate who I think fits that Daniel Hamilton role you mentioned. Hint, he’s already on the roster and you mentioned him in your post lmao

As I’ve said, I still would bring in another ballhandler because we need one off the bench regardless even with that lineup or to move Solo over at time ala Kemba, AJ, Shabazz, you get where I’m going here. And nah, I don’t think Adams is the guy to do that.

Exactly. They made it very easy not to root for. From the pillaging from Pitino in conference to their pounding the chest for 1 be title to wave to the people in Storrs, it’s actually quite easy to root against them. I still do.
And the fact the style doesn’t translate well to the tourney. The only chalk 1-2 not to make elite 8 sucked for BE.

I’m kinda over them - they make a great villain. It’s gonna be war with them while Pitino is here.

A team with Ball and Ross as the primary ball handlers wouldn’t even get the ball over halfcourt against St. John’s or Marquette. Truly an all time BY hot take.

Didn’t that lineup beat Marquette on the road without Liam and do just that??

And that’s before another summer of improvement after real playing experience lol

Dude, it’s one thing thinking Solo can be a primary PG (He can’t), but insinuating Ross has any similarity to DHam is ridiculous. You have to be doing some of this just to troll.

Ross used to be a PG before his growth spurt. I’m not sure why it’s a wild thing to say because of that he has some ball handling and playmaking ability (which he has shown in spurts too).

No where near the level and confidence of DHam. But we’re talking about a role.

From what the grapevine says the staff seems all in on getting Ross back too. This board is setting itself up really bad if he ends up breaking out next year lol

You’re pointing to the game where we had 25 TOs and won because we shot 63% from 3 and Marquette couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean as the evidence for your lineup?

I’m banking on improvement for the most part. I’m just a believer in these kids talent and work ethic (which both of these kids have proven to have).

This board constantly talks about how this staff is the best at development in cbb but for some reason can’t get on board with the development needed for this to happen lol

His blue tinted raybans are bifocals that also make him think every player that we develop will become exactly like some historically good Husky. Has to be a condition name - Huskilitis.

I would guess that everyone on this board would happily take him on the team next year and absolutely everyone would be ecstatic if he breaks out the way you think he will. You keep implying that people here are rooting for him to fail, which is just false.

I find the St. John's hate to be kinda weird. People are upset they're spending $$. Would there be a person upset if we were able to outbid other teams for players? Nope. If Luis, Conwell, and Hopkins wanted to come here, would you be annoyed that we were "pillaging"? There was literally a post the other day about how awesome it would be to bring Hopkins and/or Luis in. Even the "victory tour" they did. Who cares?

Wanting him to keep improving his playmaking vs. wanting him to be the sole ball handler and distributor is QUITE the leap.

The idea that the only way a kid can develop is by getting unlimited minutes including, if necessary, to the detriment of the team is such a strange take.

No one is hoping Ross fails. Everyone is rooting for Ross to break out. But it’s not exactly controversial to say there’s a ton of risk in banking on that without other options. We saw where that got us this year.

Purdue aligning the Amish all stars for next season. First step will be teaching the squad not to take a deuce in a urinal. Additionally looking to land a power forward named Jezzudiah.

When they sign someone with the last name Stoltzfus, you’ll know they’ve arrived as the go to destination for the Amish.

As an added bonus they’ll build high quality picnic tables for outside the student union on off days.

No we didn’t because there were other options lol

At the moment, Ross is the Lastings Milledge of the Huskies. And @HuskyWarrior611 is the leader of the Milledge People.

This place is plain weird. Someone earlier in this thread implied we should've essentially tanked the season and just played our underclassmen exclusively so they would be ready for this year.

No, we are not. We have seen what Ross’ strengths and weaknesses are. He can maximize his strengths and become an energy guy who defends and rebounds and hits some shots. But he is not a playmaker, full stop. He struggles with his dribble and he is erratic.

You are setting yourself up to be called out on these fantastical visions of players, but you will never admit you are/were wrong.

I really need to know how something like this (and it isn't the only case) happens yet Cam couldn't even get them to listen to an appeal after they dismissed his request for an extra year of eligibility last year.

Thank You Mr. Ross
