Transfer Portal Starting to Load

This was one of the more predictable outcomes. Seeing as all threads seem to take about 30 minutes to show up I'll save the rest of my comments for the 25 threads that will show up with this tweet in a few minutes
No major surprise here. I’ll be curious to see what conference/team he gets recruited to and what he looks like as a player by junior/senior year. Bit of a log jam to get him on the floor and to expect him to be a big contributor next year was likely a stretch.

And so it begins…

Been wondering about him getting no play last season. Never saw enough of him to evaluate. Do we guess that Hurley did not promise him playing time? PT is what these kids want even more than anything.

Hurley promises no one playing time.

Dude looked ok whenever he got a chance. Im not sure what happened in between the end of November when he scored 6 points to never playing again in a game till March. Maybe he always had a foot out the door

Liam is gone. We went through the same process with DC last year. The plan has always been to be a one and done.
You may be right. You maybe know the family. When you say "we went through the same thing with DC last year", maybe you are an insider. I am not. And I do not know the family. But here's what I do know: On January 1st, the kid was projected 10 to San Antonio. He is now on the fringe of falling out of the first round. Things changed. And I do not think its crazy to think that he would do exactly what DC did and return for a second year.

The schedule happened, those 6 points came in a 54 point win over one of the worst teams in the country. All but 1 of his minutes up to that point was against cupcakes

Not a surprise here. He was a high recruit comming out of high school. Showed some flashes of goodness with the limited time he got in the beginning of the season. Not sure what kept him on the bench. Regardless, best of luck to him.

Ross was awful mostly but Dan Hurley does have loyalty as well. I’m thinking Abraham could’ve given us a little something more but who knows, only the staff knows.
It’s often tough for top 75 type recruits to break into the rotation right away on a good team. Think it’s telling that in a season where toughness, defense, athleticism, & physicality was needed, he couldn’t even get spot minutes. Just wasn’t ready for it. Staff is going to play who they think will help them win games, they didn’t think that.

Not an insider, just common sense. Best case if Liam comes back, he makes a million or so? He'll make at least 4 times that in the NBA, while not having to deal with classes or practice limitations

He's also not even close to falling out of the first round lmao. He might not be a top 10 pick like it was projected at the start of the season but he'll be gone before pick 20. For the NBA, potential trumps college production, not to mention the older you get, the less appealing you get.

That's fine. And obviously I'm not coach Hurley or in practice to know what he looked like but he had the length and stroke to do well. It's not like we were getting quality production from anyone on the bench not named Tarris Reed

In 2024-2025...IA was 5th string wing...behind AK, LM, JS, and JR.

I'm not going to speculate as to may or may not return...but biggest issue for him may ended up being timing...

if he waits to portal and 'they' return...he risks being out of the rotation again...

if he waits to portal...he risks having few attractive programs to transfer too...

head home to VCU/Richmond...have a great season...then parlay that into a power program for junior and senior year

I’d bet Rick Pitinos budget that where the dust settles will not be with non p4 schools having a competitive advantage in hoops

Well they played Ross and that wasn’t a great look. Kid was tough in HS and played Flagg well in the nationals he deserved a look when Liam was down but that’s just me. Hope someone makes out real well with Isaiah.

I'm afraid of the football league $ out there taking players we dont want to lose. Said it about 15 pages ago. The nil offers Im hearing are bonkers
Not sure it all the football dollars luring good players to those teams. I think that’s a part of it, but having a billionaire benefactor like St John’s has, or Arkansas has and now BYU has magnify the landscape.

Jensen was for Nova under Rollie Massamino for those who are young or don't remember. Didn't specify in original message.
I recall Jensen being a good ball handler, defender and an accurate assassin. We could have used him for his year, freshman or not.

Good lord...5 pages of complete off-topic re-hashed nonsense. Take it to another thread. This is a portal discussion thread.

Big guard:

If you want to go for the home run. How much NIL does he want?

GEORGIA'S SILAS DEMARY JR. SHAKES UP PORTAL

Silas Demary Jr. to the portal is significant news that rival coaches have been waiting for. The 6-foot-5 lead guard was one of the best players in the SEC down the stretch, spurring the Dawgs into an at-large, NCAA Tournament bid. A two-year starter in Athens, Demary offers terrific positional size and two-way ability. He's a tough, physical combo guard who can play on and off the ball. A really good defender, Demary blossomed as a sophomore at Georgia while improving his shooting and decision-making.
