Yes. This.

Great.

Not a single person here is pleased with the last three years. If you want to keep arguing we should fire him now, even though that decision seems to have been made, that's fine. Go for it. We haven't had that discussion for at least ten minutes.

But could I please ask you to just remember that the fact that we are not firing our head football coach with whom you are displeased does not require you to try to bad mouth every single little thing that the school, the AD, the players or the Coach do? That just makes this place unreadable and drives away folks we need to be interested.

It's a free country. You are absolutely free to ignore the advice. But recognize that if everyone wants to do what you are doing and be negative not just about the whole but about every little thing, we'll end up with fewer hardcores than we have now which will just make it that much harder to get to where we all want to go.

I believe the roster was mismanaged, and there wasn't some well thought out plan by HCRE to honor commitments or maintain a higher academic standard. Those explanations don't make sense to me.

I don't post in gameday threads because short-term struggles were expected, and I am looking for progress each year. And I saw some better things this year -- I like Zergiotis as a potential building block. But I don't see this coaching staff getting it together, and the roster seems like a year behind were it should be in a turn-around. I hope am wrong.

However, if your broader point is that re-hashing obviously bad decisions and mismanagement isn't helpful, I understand and acquiesce.

Edited to add: I won't debate whether my posts qualify for "being negative about the every little thing", but I have not, nor will I, "bad mouth" the players. You can save that admonishment for someone else.

For what it's worth, that was a perfectly fine post. I think folks have been way too harsh on the potential that Zergiotis showed. Perfect -- no where near it. But the numbers for a true frosh on a lousy team who had never played a game of American football before this season were overall pretty damn good. No reason to think his completion percentage can't go up and his interceptions down with experience.

I would simply point out that last year we brought in a full class, so pushing more folks out earlier wasn't going to help the rebuild in any way.

I’m guessing the point is Randy is an epic disaster
Lamerobert I think randy is bringing in much better players the he is losing. One mistake I think he made was not getting rid of most of Diaco players right away. Unfortunately most were not close to being division 1Players

To make an obvious point, it's hard to get rid of most of a 85 man scholarship roster right away when you can only replace 25 a year.

Yeah that’s not true. If you don’t think athletes know what classes to take I don’t know what to tell you.
The advisors tell them their class options. This isn't 30 years ago when you picked out of a catalog. And regarding APR - go to the basketball yard and talk about APR. See the responses.

Our problem was getting punished twice for it, about the postseason ban rule being put into place after it was too late to improve our scores, and not using the most recent data that was easily available when we got banned. Not sure what it has to do with classes we have vs. other schools

APR is meaningless. In football APR the weak academic schools can beat high academic schools: Clemson > Vanderbilt, UCF> Rice, Nevada> Boston College.

Clemson is not really weak.

Y’all seen the UConnFootballTransferPortal on Twitter? Is it really a former player? Someone trolling Diaco? Trolling Edsall?

Elaborate? (For those of us not on Twitter)

Are we really looking fondly at the Diaco era? Best motivator? That team quit on him by the end of his final season. His recruiting was abysmal, we've all seen the talent level the last few years. The best players on his bowl team were Pasqualoni recruits, hell the best players on the final season's team were Pasqualoni recruits. He refused to bring in Kiil to help run the offense, successfully ran off Tim Boyle. His high-water mark for offense was 320 yards a game (and that was in a season where we went 3+ games without a touchdown). Edsall's worst season offensively (this past season FWIW) was at 345. Diaco's vaunted defense gave up 420 yards a game in his final season (having progressively gotten worse as the Pasqualoni recruits graduated)... and as bad as things were this year, Edsall's defense was only 40 yards off that mark.

The last three year's have stunk.. but lets not be crazy; if Diaco was still here, the team, as rough as things have been, would almost certainly be even worse.

Wow..Just looked it up. Sounds like one of the teams transfer players who wanted to air it all out..there was a division. Hopefully that’s behind us now,..

The last 24 seconds of the Navy game is all I need to see. As far as the Twitter page, maybe If they loved Diaco so much, they wouldn’t have quit on him, which they did. Either a troll or a coward, either way not worth my time, and nobody is asking why these kids are leaving, besides one or two, they just are not good enough.

Well, well, well, some former player is running a pro Disastro / anti Edsall troll account.

For starters it has Summers pic in the headshot... but the tweets suggest it was someone that just departed.

Frankly this account shows you just how divided the house has been. Amazing they got any commits the last two years with malcontents like this lining the huddle.

Bitterness like this isn’t going away - these guys think they were FBS quality robbed by mismanagement. Yikes.

I’m glad they are gone. Best for everyone. I’m not relieving Edsall of any excuses- but I know what my eyes saw these past four to six years and it wasn’t strictly a coaching issue. Slow is slow.

Crap like this continues to fester and it’s going to make it awkward for the school to promote the NFL and CFL guys who have taken shots at the program going forward.

I have to say, that account is disturbing. Disgruntled former player or Mrs. Diaco, it doesn't look good and p1sses me off.
Makes me wonder if they can make a tiny bit more progress in 2020 than expectations because the internal haters are gone.

Yes. And i agree with @Exit 4 , but Randy didn't have to say they sucked every time he took the mic either. People had eyes and those that care enough to still be here knew they had to cycle the roster over. This is a bit of, you reap what you sow. Ill be glad when this era is completely turned over.

Randy isn’t clean here- he could have more deftly managed certain elements of this makeover. I think it’s a lock Randy himself would have done things differently in a do over coaching wise. Don’t think the 3-3-5 would have happened.

Side bar- I also think he’s redoubled his effort to find guys in the 2019 and 2020 classes that will mesh with his approach.

This just further justifies Edsall moving guys along. As for Diaco, he's sliding down the coaching ladder faster than anyone I've ever seen. His career is Marty McFly before his Mom and Dad kiss at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
