For those interested in transfer stats, I tumbled some numbers. I used the 247 stats and probably made some mistakes, but I think the numbers are generally correct.
Last year, there were ~1100 kids in the portal or ~7 to 8 kids per FBS team. (Numbers are somewhat skewed as some lower division kids are included.)
19% of the kids in the portal transferred to a P5 school or ~214 kids.
72% of the P5 transfers in (154 kids) were from other P5 schools. (P5 to P5 transfers)
28% of the P5 transfers in were from G5 schools or below (60 kids)
By position:
QB: 123 kids in the portal, 37 transferred to P5 school or 30%. 6 G5 or below transfers to P5.
RB: 96 kids in the portal, 9 transferred to P5 schools or 9%. 2 G5 or below transfers to P5.
WR and TE: 253 kids in the portal, 51 transferred to P5 schools or 20%. 18 G5 or below transfers to P5.
OL: 110 kids in the portal, 26 transferred to P5 schools or 24%. 9 G5 or below transfers to P5.
DT and DE: 147 kids in the portal, 24 transferred to P5 schools or 17%. 7 G5 or below transfers P5.
LB: 119 kids in the portal, 19 transferred to P5 schools or 16%. 4 G5 or below transfers to P5.
DBs: 217 kids in the portal, 28 transferred to P5 schools or 13%. 7 G5 or below transfers to P5.
K and P: 25 kids in the portal, 15 transferred to P5 schools or 60%. 6 G5 or below transfers to P5.
LS: 10 kids in the portal, 5 transferred to P5 schools or 50%. 1 G5 or below transfers to P5.
As you can see, it is very hard to transfer to a P5 school unless you are a kicker or a punter. It is also hard to transfer from a G5 school to a P5 school. RB and DB were the hardest positions to transfer to a P5 school. Although I didn't crunch the numbers, it seems easier to transfer to a P5 if you have immediate eligibility to fill a hole.
Based on the stats, at most 1 or 2 UConn transfers move on to a P5.
