Transfer Portal (2022-2023)

Is there any place that would say they are the place for players with a sense of entitlement?

Generic meaningless tweet meant to bad mouth the transfers while being just vague enough to maintain plausible deniability.

I wish people bashing players that transfer would say it with their chest or not at all.
Tennessee Lady Vols....

I know this player too. Man, what a weird trip she's taken through her HS and AAU days.

She left her HS prep team mid-season to join Hamilton Heights to play with Hunt and Cardoso. Was there for 2 seasons I believe and came back to Canada to play with that Royal Crown "supergroup" that was supposed to compete in 2020 when COVID shut everything down. Even reclassified as she's from the 2021 class to improve her opportunities.

Had thought enrolling early was good as she was doing nothing from what I was aware of for ball this year. I hope things work out for her.

If all the ND players came back, they would or could have been really good next season. There must have been some real discontentment on that team.

Gotta see who comes in from the portal and whether Dodson gets a waiver.

They still have the Miles-Citron-Westbeld core, which is really the foundation.

Ivey, intentionally or not, has pushed out all the McGraw era holdovers except Westbeld (who Ivey has known since middle school) and Marshall (Ivey heavily involved in her recruitment).

It's the kids that committed to her that were given the lion's share of the PT.

They mentioned during the NC State game that Ivey admitted that they built the offense around Miles. Makes sense but you wonder how the upperclassmen feel about a system built not to maximize their talents but a freshman's?

Maybe Brunelle can finally get that UConn offer?

But I wouldn’t be surprised is the one or two of the Oregon kids end up in South Bend

What does this team needs to get back to the top of the ACC. Played two great games against very talented NC State team...were crushed twice by a very tough Louisville squad.

Thinking it's very much the latter: first transfer, immediate eligibility.

OSU has not fared well with two of the highly rated guards to came from "afar" to join OSU and Scott Rueck:
  • Sasha Goforth left to return to Arkansas (season-long starter)
  • Now, Kampschroeder. Will she return to the Midwest? Iowa? Elsewhere?
Goforth and Kampschroeder were thought to be close with OSU leading scorer Talia von Oelhoffen. Now von Oelhoffen is the sole survivor.
Thanks Dillon77. I was surprised an athlete like Goforth chose Oregon St. with Rueck's slower pace and heavy use of sets on offense. Kampshroeder transferring surprised me, I recall an interview where she said she took her time and did her homework on the schools she was considering because she wouldn't be going through the transfer process. Guess things don't work out.

I'd like to see her at Iowa and there is 1 scholarship available but I don't get the feeling they are looking at this point.

I pray this turns into reality….

The 6’2” Sydney Parrish could land at Indiana (home state) or ND, Purdue, other? Maddie Scherr going to Florida State, most likely (Boyfriend). Not sure what 6’4” Kylee Watson has in mind. Home State is New Jersey (Rutgers, MD, ?) but may opt to go as a package deal with Parrish. Interesting to watch.

I need a total blue star or hoopgurlz style transfer ranking list to keep track.... this is becoming a whole recruitment process that is rapidly becoming as a big as the high school recruiting....

I think the Athletic did one but I didn't check to see if it was behind a paywall.

I honestly think Niele and ND takes a hard look at both Parrish and Watson. ND recruited Watson out of HS, and made her final list, but not for Parrish. We shall see….

Hmm. She could excel at DePaul or Marquette being an IL native if she wants to go closer to home.
I think Anaya is definitely going to DePaul. I also think Blackwell from MO may go to DePaul now to play with Peoples too.

Mississippi State PG Myah Taylor is in the portal. She's started the past few years and has been through the ringer with the coaching changes. She came in under Vic, redshirted a year, then played for 3 different coaches in 4 years. COVID gave her an extra year.

She's been a warrior for MSU but I can understand her not wanting to stick around for another transition.

Is there a one year PG candidate out there? Asking for a friend.

I like the guard from Buffalo because she can run the point and shoot. However, she might follow her coach to Syracuse. Myah Taylor would be a serviceable point guard to go along with Raven.

If Coach Purcell runs the same system as Louisville then he needs a lead guard that can create her own shot in addition to guiding the team. M Taylor either needs to have an incredibly talented team around her so that the focus is not on her or she needs to drop down to a lower level where she can be more productive.
In my opinion M Taylor would be a perfect point for South Carolina. SC has plenty of weapons for her to distribute. She is a good defender, outstanding ball handler and leader. She would be great to start and then have Raven come in to up the tempo or she would be equally good to have as a back up to Raven to keep things steady or to calm things down if the situation needed.

Myah Taylor is an interesting addition to the portal. Have paid a lot of attention to Bama’s Jamya Mingo-Young this season. I wonder if she might end up putting her name in the portal.

I would think J Mingo-Young would have to sit since she transferred this past season and was immediately eligible.
