I am not disagreeing with him being a better 2G than either RP or OC, heck they're actually 3's anyway. But he's not a good passer and only a decent handle, his D is solid enough most of the time although also inconsistent. We need to upgrade with a ball handler, passer and potentially a better scorer in order to put us in position to be a better team next year. Jalen will play immediately no matter how much he needs to lear because he will be the only one to put us in position to score the ball.

Can you honestly picture a lineup of TS, OC, RP, KF and AB? Hoping the post grad or maybe a decommit falls through the cracks if not Carter.
What about TS, JA, RP,Dan Hurley, and AB
With OC,and KF off the bench ,moving Dan Hurley to the a Three.

In that case you now put even more pressure on your freshman stud guard because he's playing next to someone they will not spend much attention on. Not a good team in my eyes and certainly not NC caliber as we see it now.

Tons of people don't get it. It's why you're always blaming people for lack of reading comprehension.

I'm actually not clueless, that would be people who tohink they can predict the future with 100% accuracy. I would say you're accurate about me coming off as a dick though.

7, that would be a worse back court than the one that struggled so much this year.

If TSam becomes Taliek we will be absolutely fantastic next season. People incredibly underestimate how fricken solid he was.

I agree. Not sure that will ever happen for TSam.

TSam is on path to have as many assists in his entire UConn career as Taliek had his Freshmen year. TSam still needs 90 something assists the next 2 years to achieve what Taliek did his Freshman year. TSam has never made a 3 pt shot in his career, that's still about 30 3 pt shots made than Taliek made in his career, despite Taliek being a horrible shooter. Taliek had leadership skills that TSam just doesn't exhibit. Taliek knew his strengths & limitations, which is why UConn played well under his direction. Leaders lead. That was Taliek.

Taliek was incredibly solid with Gordon, Okafor, Rashad etc etc........while Taliek would be wonderful with this team we still couldn't score right? While it would also be really good if TSam was ever Taliek, he won't be. Taliek turned it around to be a much better decision maker by career end so who knows, maybe TSam can. But Taliek was really really good on the defensive end and much quicker than TSam too.

With his grades in order and a qualifying score under belt, Carter is set to begin visiting different colleges. He says he wants to take all 5 of his official visits.

Carter says, “The coaches have been so respectful to me during the recruiting process. I have grown to really like several of them. I feel like I need to go see and feel the campuses in order to make an informed decision.”

As far as official visits, he says will probably go to 5 from among California, Marquette, UConn, NC State, Memphis and Xavier. Unofficially, Carter will take trips to see Penn State, Temple, LaSalle and a few others.

“I just want to find a place where I can continue to learn as a student and a basketball player. I want an opportunity to compete for playing time as a freshman and I want to graduate from college.”

Taliek has been called underrated around here for so many years that I now feel like he's overrated. Taliek was a solid point guard on a team with all-world talent in 2004, nothing more nothing less.

I feel like the further we get from someone's playing days the more we overrate them. We all tend to forget most of the bad stuff. That said I would taliek and all his flaws right now.

Taliek Brown is way over Terrence Samuel's ceiling.

It's not even close. Brown was a four-year starting point guard and our all-time assist leader by a light year.

Terrence is fearless and hopefully will become more than he is now, but he's not Taliek Brown and never will be.

Taliek's yearly stat breakdown:

Fresh 8.1pts 4.9ast 2.5boards 1.6stl
Soph 9.2pts 5.1ast 3.3boards 1.3stl
Jr. 7.7pts 4.8ast 3.0boards 0.9stl
Sr. 6.3pts 6.5ast 3.8boards 1.1stl

Taliek was the man, and one of our best "true" pg's... but to say TSam could never put up stats similar to Taliek in his jr and sr year, would be selling the kid short. Have a lil more faith fish. As a starting pg and main distributor the next 2 years, those numbers are attainable..... We're talking "ceilings" here

I really hope he is not our starting pg for the next two years. And I don't think he could match Taliek's assists minus a really dramatic change.

Tsam might be able to match Taliek in pts and boards if he gets a lot of playing time, but no way will he come close in assists. And if he gets that much playing time, we are in a world of trouble in the backcourt.

I've seen enough of TSAM in almost 2 years to know he isn't the answer to our point guard woes for next year. He doesn't have true PT guard skills as he isn't a penetrator and disher. He likes to dribble too deep and get stuffed or pass out wildly for a TO. I love TSAM's energy but that is all I see him being. An energy guy off the bench. I will say I do feel comfortable with him at the line. Too bad he really can't be a true pt guard.

Brown did some things very well, but he had some huge flaws and was a liability in a lot of situations. Not to mention that he never really improved much at UConn. I don't think Samuel needs to be all that great to be as good as Brown was.

Did you really watch Taliek? He was a better shooter, defender and definitely passer. I can say maybe he can match him as a rebounder. Taliek was a MCD's all american coming in. He defintely didn't play to that level but he was a ver good point guard when all was said and done. TSAM's ceiling is being a energy guy off the bench and defensive starter. He is at best the first guy off the bench.

I watched Taliek a lot. He was a pretty miserable shooter. Scott Hazleton was also a McD's AA. That distinction doesn't make him a better player. Brown was a perfectly adequate starting point guard as a freshman, and remained exactly that for four years. I don't think it would be mind-blowing for Samuel to end up being an adequate starter.

TSam becomes Taliek he will start missing FTs and we don't need that. I'm not a fan of either player in a starting role.

Player A - Four-year starting point guard. All-time assists leader w/ 722 assists at UConn. Had 172 assists as a soph.

Player B - Hmmm....is a good free throw shooter.

Terrence isn't even in the conversation. He's not even a point guard - he's a kid with a shooting guard's handle and the team manager's jumpshot. If he were 1/2 of Taliek Brown, we wouldn't be furiously beating the bushes hoping to bag a three-star point guard somewhere.

This place is a clown show sometimes.

Final third of the season, Taliek started making his free throws consistently and it made a big difference.
