The Official Tourney Thread

Wow, USC player is mugged and baylor player does not get the 4th foul called on him. Insane. Just awful.

edit: and that 4th foul should be his 5th...

It seems like none of the teams have a timeout at the end and they all throw up a ridiculous 3 pointer.

Hurley used his last TO with like 1:10 left to sub in a player. He needs to manage that better.

Who is gunna keep watching this tourney if Cincy loses tonight?

Ok my last rant on this... Both Kentucky and UNC shoulda, coulda lost today. But... In the biggest possession of the game, both opposing teams (as most do), opted to run the clock to nothing, run nothing, and just hope that someone could hit a hero shot. Why do you not still at least try to run your offense? I'm sure someone has a stat for the late game possession %, but I bet it is woefully bad. Why opt to just run the clock to five or seconds and then hope to hit a desperation 3? So asinine.
Add URI, same thing awful

The trend of P5 schools getting calls continues to be impossible to ignore, but that's about as bad of a choke as I've seen this tournament from Rhode Island there. They choked it away two separate times and at no point did it seem like it was because Oregon was more talented.

Hurley's a mystery to me. He obviously has tremendous upside as a coach, but his teams lose those type of games all the time. Benching his best player down the stretch - and the proceeding to surrender two crucial offensive rebounds - was pretty questionable. That game unfolded like a tragic play, and make no mistake, that was a Rhode Island team that could have gotten to the final four. The difference in talent between them and a school like Kansas is a lot smaller than people realize.

I think you over state - they don't lose those type of games all the time
The difference between schools like Kansas and Rhody is Kansas has lots of length, tons of talent, an abundance of athleticism and all are ballers. Rhody has some length, some decent talent, some athleticism and heart BUT heart sometimes loses out to ballers in crunch time

I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS GAME GUYS. PRAY FOR ME.
Good Luck Kobe
BUT I will never pray for that idiot Cronin

I haven't watched enough of URI to critique this post in either direction. I solely bring this up to discuss Kansas' talent level. This roster is not nearly as talent laden as most would presume. Kudos to Self. They play 7 dudes. Lucas and Mason were 3*. I think Graham popped into the top 100 late on a few sites after flipping from App St. Vick was ranked 80-100 after decommitting from SMU. Obviously, having a top 3 pick in the draft is a huge bonus but Self has gotten so much out of this roster. There are probably 15 teams in the tournament with more top 100 kids. You can't say enough about having a backcourt of highly skilled upperclassmen who are too small/unathletic to be legit NBA prospects.

USC hoisted up 3 threes in about 45 seconds or so, 2 of which were really bad shots and the 3rd was questionable. Baylor center has FOUR FOULS, DRIVE! + they have given up like 13 or 14 offensive boards in the second half. Hit the boards!

Loss.

Alonzo Ball annoys me... Can't believe I am saying this... Go Bearcats!

Cincy has to stop turning it over and avoid long draughts and they have a great shot at winning this.

Have fun playing Cincy Coach Alford lol. They are not used to playing physical like us.

Great effort by URI. They got raped on a missed over the back foul which allowed a dagger 3. Their small quick line up is pretty impressive.

Cincy, go to Clark a lot....the rest of you guys, make some shots like you did against UConn.

What else is new. Low seed gets down early, comes back to take a small lead...loses.

So did the refs get the same script, because if so, we already know Duke wins by 5 or 6 in the end.

Wow what a horrible foul called on Johnson. Then Ball hacks Clark because he sucks at D. He plays like an entitled little biotch.

A Cincinnati win brings money to UConn's pockets, makes Lavar Ball irrelevant, and earns the American some credit. Go Bearcats!
