Just to reiterate exactly how bad the Pirates' pen is (and this is including our injured All-Star closer):
'reefer?'
the big clock on the wall sez it's 2-0-2-2, and not 1-9-2-2.
i mean, iffn u said 'bagweed,' or 'sinsemilla,' or even 'schwag,' the reader might know what ur talkin aboot, but 'reefer'? u still have an 'icebox?' lol.
and, on that post waving the white flag on tonites game
(here comes looie!, prolly got tired of hanging in the hot tub, smoking stogies, and having scantily clad ladies bring him frosty bev's), yammerin on aboot some make believe team from Pennsylvania, and not showing proper amazement and respect for the current bomberiest of bombers, well, he/she/they just don't get that we're
i wonder how it will turn out with bennie, brit, and carp?
they're on the team, too.
Do you still feel this way, or is it now the right move because every move Cashman makes is the right move in your eyes.the 'fire hicks and gallo' chant is all that is left for the perennial butthurt crowd. check the comments in the ny post. war? famine? earthquake? -fire hicks and gallo. 6 train not working? needles return to needle park? fire hicks and gallo.
im mad at everrone everrwhere? fire hicks and gallo.
stock market plunge? diesel at $7? fire hicks and gallo.
not me. im keeping both.
i like cashman.Do you still feel this way, or is it now the right move because every move Cashman makes is the right move in your eyes.
hey! welcome back, homey.Definitely sorry to see the the Andujar news, but not surprised. Hopefully, he'll get picked up by a team that can give him regular at-bats. He showed such promise as a rookie, that you figure he can stick somewhere. I also give him credit for learning to play the outfield and, after a brutal start, turning himself into a respectable fielder. But it was obvious that the Yankees had lost faith in him as being capable of being an impact player, so the divorce is best for all parties.
We missed another Garret Cole fail.So....the game is not on TV. What a country. When I was a kid you had your pick, 11 or 38.
Carpenter says he will be back for the playoffs, that would be wild, maybe he’s back by the ALCS if we get there, as a PH.Here's my stab at the 26 man playoff roster, as of today:
Pitchers (13, the maximum)
5 SP: Cole, Cortes, Severino, German, Taillon
2 LH Relief: Chapman, Luetge
6 RH Relief: Holmes, Loaisiga, Effross, Schmidt (long man), Marinaccio, Trivino
Out:
Britton: Wait and see. If effective, would place on team over Trevino
Peralta: (injured, would include him over Britton if healthy just cause he’s been reliable)
Montas (injured, might even not play him over the other guys I listed)
Batters (13)
2 C: Trevino, Higashioka
5 INF: Rizzo, LeMehieu, Torres, Donaldson, IKF
5 OF: Judge, Bader, Hicks, Locastro
1 UT: Cabrera
1 Dan Hurley: Stanton
Out:
Benintendi (hand, will not return until the playoffs)
Gonzalez (I debated Gonzalez’s versatility over Locastro’s pinch running, speed/defense)
Carpenter (injury prognosis doesn’t look good)
Looks like his ace self till 1 thing goes wrong. We missed another Garret Cole fail.
Henry HeadcaseLooks like his ace self till 1 thing goes wrong.
Having had him in the same division for several years, he's a great CF, has sneaky power, but is streaky. Last year he sandwiched a 400 OPS August around a 1000 OPS July and a 900 OPS Sept. So I'm sure there will be points in time where you'll demand he get DFAdSmall sample size, but you can start to see Cashman's thinking on the Montgomery trade for Bader. With all the focus, rightly, on Judge's pursuit of 60, Bader has had a meaningful impact on the few games he's played.

i like watching the zack story now. he feels great, the docs say he is fine, his ball is wickedly tantalizing, but, so far, he doesn't know where it's going. ball one, ball two, ball three, walk! next batter - ball one, ball two, ball three, walk! freakin hilarious. methinks just a re-learning curve. It will be interesting these last few games of the regular season to see how the Yankees decide who to keep on the playoff roster. DJ, Carpenter, Britton and maybe Benintende all vying to make the squad. If 100% healthy, they all represent upgrades, but they are not 100%.
I grew up in Connecticut so I probably don't have the same connection to Maris as your wife. Although i have been to the Maris museum (in the mall). Also, when i moved here almost 20 years I visited his grave. It's a larger than usual black marble headstone shaped like a diamond.I’m so happy for Judge! One of the great guys in professional sports and its been heartwarming to see the Judge and Maris family together during this record chase.
Extra sweet for me as my Yankee-hating sister-in-law who went to school in the Fargo area didn’t want the record to be tied/broken, partially because Maris is a Fargo guy, but also because she’s super opinionated about super specific stuff.
What’s your take @NDakotaHusky? My ND born and bred mother and father in-laws have taken the different route. In addition to their teams, they now root for the teams I like, as long as it doesn’t contradict their fandom: UConn, Yankee, Giants, Rangers…
Anywho, go Yankees!
Peraza looks great right now too, the youth combined with veteran reinforcements good problems to have.It will be interesting these last few games of the regular season to see how the Yankees decide who to keep on the playoff roster. DJ, Carpenter, Britton and maybe Benintende all vying to make the squad. If 100% healthy, they all represent upgrades, but they are not 100%.
they did it within a half hour or so of each's milestone.seemingly unnoticed, a most amazing, unreal, ridiculously impossible,
otherwordly, and downright spooky thing happened yesterday.
well into their 2nd century of ball, with like a million different players and like a billion games, on the verysame day, one player tied the team record for home runs in a season while another player tied the team record for strikeouts in a season.
what were the chances?
of course, becuz it's the Yankees, both players lead all the rest of mlb in those two most preeminent and definitional stats of the game, home runs, and strikeouts.
un-believable. truth is stranger than fiction.
i wonder if this is another BY world exclusive newsbreaker....
(and, not an exclusive for the careful observer, rizzo looks oh so comfortable on both sides of the ball, and is now fully lethal. cool.)
