Content with this trade.

Prior to the trade, Sikkema and Way were the 19th and 21st best prospects, according to mlb.com. Champlain was unranked.

Since this trade happened the same night that I returned from a vacation, is this another notch in my belt?

that the sawx got rid of this guy is insane, and that the rest of the league didn't move heaven and earth to get him on their squads is also whackadoodle.

Reminds me of Raftery calling one of our games:
“Donnie Marshall sending it in and doing it….the Federal Way!”. (Originally from Federal Way, Washington)

I just realized that the Yankees signed reliever Richard Rodriguez to a minor-league deal earlier this month after serving a 80 game PED ban.

Sub-3 ERA and 18 saves over 88 games across the previous two seasons between Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

At the very least, he’s another veteran reliever that cost the Yankees nothing in trade value and could be a late-inning guy if he puts it all together.

@storrsroars and @Pgh2Storrs … any intel on Rodriguez?

When he was with the Pirates it was like smoke and mirrors. RichRod basically only has one pitch, a low 90s fastball, and he's very good at keeping it at top of zone or above to get swings and misses. And even though every batter knew what was coming, it was still effective to the point of disbelief that he could get away with that at a major league level.

He will throw a slider maybe 15-20% of the time to keep batters off balance, but it's not very good. And once a week he may toss a changeup, which also isn't very good. That he's 32 now, his future is probably all about whether he can keep that velocity or get better control of the slider.

Castillo to Mariners, Cashman has no balls. This front office just doesn't wanna win a world series bad enough, they would rather try and be the smartest guy in the room.

That Mariners package is crazy though. If I were the Yankees I'd rather just go get one of the other SPs on the market. Always tough to make a perfect comparison but basically the equivalent of the Yankees sending Peraza, Waldichuk, Sweeney which is a steep price

The Mariners got their azzes kick tonight by the Astros. I think that lit a fire.

Im hearing the Reds wanted Volpe and Dominguez that was probably to set a bar, like you said the Mariners sent them a crazy package.

Yeesh. I didn't see the game but Gerrit Cole giving up those 5 runs...can't happen in October. Cash needs to get a #1 or a #2 level SP quick. I have some faith in Oakland's Montas but he was injured recently. If they got Tyler Mahle I would be comfortable, but not excited. He is better than Montgomery. Thor is intriguing. Not eating innings, tho.

Now watch them land Soto. This would overall, be a gamble for 2022, and a total revamp of the Yankees going forward. No way Judge could stay.

I only want to trade for Soto if we also get a very good starting pitcher and Judge can get extended. I hear it all the time, but like @ClifSpliffy, I don't get the uber hype of Soto...I hear this is your chance to acquire Stan Musial or Hank Aaron before his prime and all I think is how disrespectful of those all-time greats this sounds like. He's an excellent player, but I'm not seeing a HOF guy, maybe because I'm watching a 23 year old and not what he could be...

I don't think that's likely, so since we added Benintendi (loved that trade), I'd like a #2 pitcher, a late-inning reliever and at least another pitcher.

I'll be at the game on Tuesday (found a nice deal on third row LF Field Outfield seats, the first time I'll be sitting in that section), so it'll be interesting to be at a game the night of the trade deadline. It'll be buzzing and I'm very exited to be there.

I'm still in disbelief how good Judge has been this year: one of the best single-season performances in Yankees history and playing a decent CF.

I'm intrigued by Andujar and the Yanks' reluctance to play him. Yanks need a plug and play 2/3 starter, and Quintana has been that. Underwood gives late inning relief and is good if only used for one inning instead of multi-innings (Bucs are mismanaging their bullpen this year). Pirates need power and pitching. I'll propose this deal:

The BaseballTradeValues.com trade evaluator accepted this as a fair deal for both teams.

Interesting trade.

Wesneski was the Yankees' 7th best prospect according to mlb.com and has put up a solid season in AAA (3.81 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in 19 starts).

I like how Effross' sidewinder delivery gives the Yankees a different look in the pen. Career 28.8% strike out rates, 5.1% walk rates and 46% ground ball rates.

Five more years of control after this season so definitely not a rental trade.

I'm cool with this trade in terms of value and I love watching quirky pitchers.

Let's go!

Waldichuk (#5 prospect), Medina (#11), Sears (#23), Bowman (#24).

Montas has one more year of control after this season while Trivino has two.

I love this trade and overall have been really happy with this trade deadline so far.

A few talking heads were discussing this trade at lunchtime. The consensus was that the Yankees gave up a better arm than they received but as they likely would lose Wisnewski this fall (rule 5 draft) they did pretty well in balance.

Efross is a decent bullpen arm so they could have done worse.

Can't believe Cashman acquired an actual prospect for Gallo.

Beeter was the 66th overall pick in the 2020 draft. 6'2 220 RHP who has a 93-98 fastball and a low-80s curve and developing change.

He has been a bad starter in AA this season (6.45 ERA, 1.61 WHIP), but was better as an opener last season (3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in 27 starts and 52 innings last season between A+ and AA).

Likely bullpen guy.

A bag of BP balls would've been fine in return. Listen, the guy all in all seems like a wonderful kid who gets along well with all, good teammate. But let's be honest it's a business and he was beyond dreadful. Just read something in which he stated "The Yankee fans made me feel like $**t". Hey Joey be a better man and come out and say "I deserved it, made lots of money to suck as bad as I did for a year with that team" I mean the guy had 67 hits in 421 ABs in a year. 25/47 in HR/RBI you were awful and fans expected more. Good luck to the Dodgers not sure why but I guess they're hoping for some magic like we got with Carpenter. Some just can't handle it in NY, best of luck to him.
