The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2022

I highly question why Marinaccio was optioned to AAA. 2.03 ERA, 0.863 WHIP, 32 Ks in 26 2/3 IP.

Not to be a dick, but can we DFA Hicks once Stanton or Bader return? He does literally nothing for this team anymore after being one of my more liked Yankees.

Another idea: DFA Marwin Gonzalez, call up Peraza and then put some pressure on Donaldson.

It would be fun to see a DJ/Torres/Peraza/IKF infield tonight just to spice things up.

Donaldson has a .592 OPS over the last month.

In 354 AAA at-bats, Peraza has 16 2B, 15 HR, 42 RBI, 26 SB, 3 CS and just 81 Ks. .259/.328/.450 splits. Currently on a 5-game hitting streak.

Just got tickets to see the A+ Hudson Valley team on Friday. Jasson Dominguez, SS Trey Sweeney (#5 prospect) and RHP Yoendrys Gomez (#6 prospect) are currently the top prospects on the team.

Not only are Hicks and Gleyber struggling but they aren’t hustling either. Could’ve dealt Gleyber in the Pablo Lopez trade that failed. Gleyber is just not a championship level player. Cashman did well at the deadline but choked at the end of it.

Benintendi is a leadoff hitting so maybe try batting him leadoff, bat DJ 2nd then Judge 3rd. This team likes to mess around but can’t try batting Benintendi leadoff like a normal person would.

Cashman won't move Judge out of the two spot. He's far too enamored with stays and metrics that he doesn't really grasp. RBI's do have value (regardless of what the next gen stats claim) and it doesn't take any complex logic to realize the three spot will provide more RBI opportunities than the two spot.

This weekend series is infuriating as it is exposing every misstep we've made in recent years. We couldn't trade for Arenado when the Rockies were not only giving him away, they were willing to pay nearly 25% of his salary. This spring we were happy to take on Donaldson with $50 million due over two years.

We have nobody capable of getting a hit with runners on base and in his first start for us, the pitcher we did land looks like he has no clue how use his stuff in critical spots.

The way I see it, any AL team capable of making the playoffs has at worst an even shot at knocking us off.

Everyone else was hitting ropes against Monty but this team. Hicks being Hicks again and Torres should have been traded when they had a chance. Reality has set in. This team has a losing record with a torrid hitting Judge, just think about that!

See timing is everything. This post got 6 hits out of Hicks and Torres today too bad the pitching can’t get anyone out.

listening to lee elci radio program yesterday, he and a guest, both bomber fans, were joking that the Yanks seemingly have lost every game, and the dodgers seemingly have won every game since joey g was traded. pretty funny. anyway, they've lost aboot one game in their division lead since all star game.
still have best record in the league.
turrible.

i have an uncle who thinks this recent stretch reminds him of that team that lost like every game in september, then went on to win the series.
i don't. i think they're bored, and just waiting for the dust to settle from all the moves.
some of youse should stay away from financial markets, far away.
mebbe even the supermarkets, too. it's a jungle out there.

Spliff, if this team had half the starting pitching and a third of the clutch hitting the 2000 team had I might agree with your uncle.

Unfortunately this team has too many games where above average pitching is enough to stop their offense. Once the playoffs begin all of the pitching they'll see will be above average or better.

like the song says 'listen to yourself churn.'
it's the end of the world as we know it. i feel fine.

i try to enjoy stuff as it happens. iffn someone with a crystal ball told us, back in April, that this is where we'd be on August 9, well,
what would you say? i sure know what i'd say, 'yes please.'
paranoia will destroy ya.

the monsters under the bed, in the closet, and in your head is the other song, the one with the skulls and horse on fire.

Writing is on the wall unfortunately. Same team and same philosophy for the last 3-4 years - it looks like it’ll end in the ALDS or ALCS again.

Sucks to see Carpenter get hurt he walked off the field too. Andujar call up would make the most sense, if he’s not called up Cashman should just fess up and say he doesn’t like Andujar, he probably doesn’t fit the analytic profile with launch angle and WAR .I’m convinced if Carpenter got hurt before the deadline he would’ve kept Joey Gallo here.

It's a real shocker that Spackler's uncle is also clueless.

21 scoreless innings in the last 2 games. If not for a 3 run outburst in the 7th lol they look dreadful in so many ways. Again with Judge doing all he can they are well under .500 since July and just aren’t set up to beat a team with good pitching in a series. Another Cashman gem!

Eight scoreless appearances in a row and more importantly, he looks like the Chapman I remember: it’s time for him to take over the closing role.

This slump sucks, but I’m not over reacting. It’s not like these games are one-sided.

How long can Boone stay with Holmes? The fact he didn’t see the kids losing it, can’t find the strike zone but let’s keep him in. Torres hasn’t had a big hit in weeks nor have many others besides Judge. This team is exactly what many of us thought they were, just had a smoke and mirrors start. Looked like a 110 game winner early on now scared they won’t get to 90.

.-.
You're worried they'll finish the season 19-30???

This slump is awful, but it's not that bad.
2-9 in their last 11 is that a slump or is it just an overrated team? We will see but this team and manager I’m watching right now is certainly capable of 19-30. Imagine if Judge slumps, which could happen?

Holmes is done as closer. His first pitch last night sailed over Trevino’s head. Chapman deserves 9th inning duties the way he’s pitching.

Can Torres not go for the 9 run homer on every swing?
