The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2022

That Mariners package is crazy though. If I were the Yankees I'd rather just go get one of the other SPs on the market. Always tough to make a perfect comparison but basically the equivalent of the Yankees sending Peraza, Waldichuk, Sweeney which is a steep price
Im hearing the Reds wanted Volpe and Dominguez that was probably to set a bar, like you said the Mariners sent them a crazy package.

Yeesh. I didn't see the game but Gerrit Cole giving up those 5 runs...can't happen in October. Cash needs to get a #1 or a #2 level SP quick. I have some faith in Oakland's Montas but he was injured recently. If they got Tyler Mahle I would be comfortable, but not excited. He is better than Montgomery. Thor is intriguing. Not eating innings, tho.

Now watch them land Soto. This would overall, be a gamble for 2022, and a total revamp of the Yankees going forward. No way Judge could stay.

I only want to trade for Soto if we also get a very good starting pitcher and Judge can get extended. I hear it all the time, but like @ClifSpliffy, I don't get the uber hype of Soto...I hear this is your chance to acquire Stan Musial or Hank Aaron before his prime and all I think is how disrespectful of those all-time greats this sounds like. He's an excellent player, but I'm not seeing a HOF guy, maybe because I'm watching a 23 year old and not what he could be...

I don't think that's likely, so since we added Benintendi (loved that trade), I'd like a #2 pitcher, a late-inning reliever and at least another pitcher.

I'll be at the game on Tuesday (found a nice deal on third row LF Field Outfield seats, the first time I'll be sitting in that section), so it'll be interesting to be at a game the night of the trade deadline. It'll be buzzing and I'm very exited to be there.

I'm still in disbelief how good Judge has been this year: one of the best single-season performances in Yankees history and playing a decent CF.

I'm intrigued by Andujar and the Yanks' reluctance to play him. Yanks need a plug and play 2/3 starter, and Quintana has been that. Underwood gives late inning relief and is good if only used for one inning instead of multi-innings (Bucs are mismanaging their bullpen this year). Pirates need power and pitching. I'll propose this deal:

The BaseballTradeValues.com trade evaluator accepted this as a fair deal for both teams.

Lock HOF barring injuries

Scott Effross, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some rookie reliever from the Cubbies. Seems to be doing okay.

checked this morning. bombers lead mlb in era. looks like a few weeks ahead of moving the pieces around to accomplish step one -best record in the AL. good plan.
that is all. carry on.

Interesting trade.

Wesneski was the Yankees' 7th best prospect according to mlb.com and has put up a solid season in AAA (3.81 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in 19 starts).

I like how Effross' sidewinder delivery gives the Yankees a different look in the pen. Career 28.8% strike out rates, 5.1% walk rates and 46% ground ball rates.

Five more years of control after this season so definitely not a rental trade.

I'm cool with this trade in terms of value and I love watching quirky pitchers.

Let's go!

Waldichuk (#5 prospect), Medina (#11), Sears (#23), Bowman (#24).

Montas has one more year of control after this season while Trivino has two.

I love this trade and overall have been really happy with this trade deadline so far.

A few talking heads were discussing this trade at lunchtime. The consensus was that the Yankees gave up a better arm than they received but as they likely would lose Wisnewski this fall (rule 5 draft) they did pretty well in balance.

Efross is a decent bullpen arm so they could have done worse.

Can't believe Cashman acquired an actual prospect for Gallo.

Beeter was the 66th overall pick in the 2020 draft. 6'2 220 RHP who has a 93-98 fastball and a low-80s curve and developing change.

He has been a bad starter in AA this season (6.45 ERA, 1.61 WHIP), but was better as an opener last season (3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in 27 starts and 52 innings last season between A+ and AA).

Likely bullpen guy.

A bag of BP balls would've been fine in return. Listen, the guy all in all seems like a wonderful kid who gets along well with all, good teammate. But let's be honest it's a business and he was beyond dreadful. Just read something in which he stated "The Yankee fans made me feel like $**t". Hey Joey be a better man and come out and say "I deserved it, made lots of money to suck as bad as I did for a year with that team" I mean the guy had 67 hits in 421 ABs in a year. 25/47 in HR/RBI you were awful and fans expected more. Good luck to the Dodgers not sure why but I guess they're hoping for some magic like we got with Carpenter. Some just can't handle it in NY, best of luck to him.

Hearing there was a fairly aggressive offer for Ohtani by the Yanks which was denied by the Angels.

Hearing rumors of Shane Beiber being floated around - PLEASE!!???

Good what the hell took too long. Im not one of those fans who ever boos a player my anger is more at Cashman then Gallo. What the hell took so long to trade him, I will only give Cashman credit for this trade if Beeters turns into a good pitcher for the Yankees.

Whats Spiffeys take on this is he sad or is this the right move because the Yankees always make the right move in his eyes.

Its more like we won't trade Ohtani but lets put a leak to get a reaction from other teams.

Yankee fans will love Harrison Bader. I sure do.

I was surprised to see that they traded Montgomery. He has been a solid back-of-the-rotation lefty starter for NY. I know they picked up Montaz, but they just moved Severino to the 60-day IL. I guess Cashman feels better about German than he did Montgomery.

.-.
Hearing reports that Montgomery was traded for not having a good relationship with the press, I guarantee you it had nothing to do with his performance he just wasnt a Cashman guy. Hearing he was a bit moody in the clubhouse wit the lack of run support he was getting. Taillon is getting lit up right now btw.

I like moves that were made but very confused why you couldn't get a starter to replace Montgomery after you lost Sears, Waldichuck, and Sevy to 60 day IL which I also question.

How do you not have a plan in place for Severino and yes I said this the beginning of the season. Now I'm not saying this injury had a direct effect from his work load this year, If a guy is on an innings limit why not have him miss April maybe till mid may work Sevy slowly going 5 with your 20 man pen, then have Sevy go full go from June or July on.

Well see how it all works out the biggest obstacle to the Yankees isnt the Astros its Brian Cashman.

why do the rizzo and effross acquisitions feel like the tino and jeff nelsen gets? spooky.
i mean, wicked great glove and bat on the one hand, and wicked weird loop de loo benders from the sidewinder on the other.
as to my man joey, well, he wore out his welcome, not really complicated.
i like him, so what? i like benitendi, too. try to remember, oh brain damaged one, that im also a big fan of cash. can you hold two thoughts at one time in your noggin? far as i can tell, i haven't seen it.
this was a really good effort by cash and co. that oakland pitcher looks like he has some snarl in him. sweeeet.

Also Monty can’t field his position at all that’s an issue. I’d bunt on him all day.

Still not sure trading him was a great move at all especially with Seve going on the 60 and Tailon dying a bit. Germán has looked better but still unpredictable.

Wish they got one more solid rotation guy.

seve got the mads, publicly, aboot being on the 60. doesn't want to be there, doesn't think he should be there. cash outranks him, and since we just won #70 on the 1st of August, in a division where everyone is over .500, he is correct to tell louie to go soak his head for a while.

What the frick happened to Benintendi? 1 for 17, with six walks. Three whiffs tonight
