I don't see him as a SB caliber QB. I would draft a QB at any point in any draft from this point forward if they feel he's the long term answer. Fields appears to be a nice guy to keep the seat warm until then.
And Mac Jones beating the Rams on short rest (at an "away game that had 75% SF fans) is different from Mac Jones going into Philly and getting a playoff win.
It’s not easy to find a superbowl caliber QB (obviously). How many are there actually in the league?
AFC; Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert
NFC: Prescott, Daniels, Love, Stafford
Other very talented QBs who need a team around them to be great: Rodgers, Maye, Hurts, Williams, Goff, Mayfield, Murray, Purdy, Darnold. (there are a bunch of rookies that are unknowns at this point)
IMO, there are only 9 QBs who are what I consider to be Superbowl caliber. I think the second group can win a superbowl but need strong team or coaching to get there.
I know Fields will never be in the first group…Can he be in the second group? Probably not, but I hope he gets enough reps to know for sure before we start another rookie qb cycle.
