The Official 2025 NY Jets thread

O-Line health, score, subpar OC, and nutcase for a QB contributed to it, but the Jets run game was ranked #31 or 32 last year in terms of yards, attempts, and Yds/gm, and rushing TDs.

Detroit's o-line was darned good. The running game starts in the trenches, not the backfield.
# of rushes would impact the yds and yds per game. And the OC or whoever called the plays clearly let Rodgers dictate the run/pass split. Again, I said I'd see more of an RPO focus from Fields leading things and I think you'll see it's better than you thought. Yds per RUSH they were middle of the pack (4.3 and 16th in the NFL - right there with the Bills, Texans, Pats and Bengals).

No question, the Jets will be an improving team f only because the inmates will presumably not be running the asylum.

They took a solid first step by jettisoning Rodgers. If only now they can keep the owner from interfering. A meddling owner who treating his franchise like a game of Madden is constantly searching for the reset button.

I think Rodgers retires. If he is smart he will. The only team that really wants him is the Giants. Why would he go to another bad situation like the Jets? He got his 500 tds. a good team doesn't want his baggage. Just retire dude.

I don’t think his ego lets him retire. I think at this point he sits around and waits for a Burrow or Goff to get hurt in the preseason and leeches on to a winner.

Who are they going to draft? It feels like the safe pick is the OT from Missouri. But…using a top 10 pick on a right tackle feels high. I like the idea of drafting TE Warren of PSU. GIves Fields a good outlet when he scrambles and the TE room needs help.

BTW…i love that Glenn and Mougey didn’t kiss Rodgers butt when they met with him. Are the Steelers really gonna want to deal with this guy? I would insist that he stop doing the MacAfee show at least.

They'd be smart to take a long look at Mason Graham. Why would the Jets kiss Rodgers' butt? They don't owe him anything and he gave them less.

I heard the Steelers are zeroing in on Milroe, who would compete immediately for a starting position in the Steelers' current QB room. I don't think he is a 1st round pick, but it's all relative. Cam Ward may not have been a 1st rounder last season. If the Steelers sign Rodgers and draft Milroe, at least one of Mason Rudolph or Skylar Thompson won't be in the Black and Gold next season. However, Rodgers may also not be open to going to Pittsburgh if they draft Milroe. He is not mentor material and it is a known quantity from his Green Bay days that he is insecure enough to not help but to look over his shoulder.

There is also a positive non-zero percent chance that Rodgers gets Tomlin fired.

The mocks that I have seen have Graham getting picked before the Jets pick.

I don’t think Rodgers cares anymore about having a top prospect behind him. I can’t imagine him playing beyond a season.

He'll care if the prospect has a chance of playing ahead of him. Rodgers is not a team player...like Marcus Mariota for example.

If Graham isn’t there, Jalon Walker will be. Jets can improve. Not sure I’d take Membou that high.

I don’t think anyone thinks Milroe is an instant starter…most think he needs time to learn..like Jordan Love did in GB.

Rodgers is a weird dude..and I am very happy he is gone. But..if you asked Jet players they would say he was a great teammate.

LIstened to CImini’s pre-draft podcast.

He had interesting comments about Graham. He thinks he may be too similar to Quinnen WIlliams and that Glenn prefers a larger NT. So he isn’t sure Graham is a scheme fit. But he also said they could change the scheme because Graham is that good.

He feels the Jets have Banks ahead of Membou. He thinks Jalon Walker is the wildcard.

He also said he wouldn’t be surprised if they picked Warren, but he thinks its more likely to be about the lines.

Rudolph is Just Another Guy and Thompson is less than a JAG. Milroe represents hope for the future, if only because he's an unknown. If the Steelers are 1-4, particularly with Rodgers, All of western PA, let alone Greater Pittsburgh, will be clamoring for Milroe.

There is a difference between being a good teammate and being a team player. There is nearly no convincing me that Rodgers wasn't at least the tipping point on who stayed between Saleh and Hackett.

I still say the players would say he is a good team player.

I don’t like Rodgers..I wasn’t happy when they got him…and I am glad he is gone. But I still don’t think you can ignore how much he was loved by his teammates. Rich CImini said the locker room was supportive of Rodgers.

Saleh was fired because Woody Johnson had a hissy fit.

I don't know what to think on Membou. On one hand, you usually can't go wrong drafting a first round OL. On the other hand, there's a lot of buzz he was a combine darling and the Jets overlooked some good sized flaws (has to initiate contact or looks lost, he's on the ground alot).

And one quote was something like "The Jets passing up on Tyler Warren all but guarantees he's a 10 time pro bowler and first ballot HOF TE"

I wanted them to draft Bowers last year. And Warren this year. At least last year they had Conklin….this year they have uh….Ruckert?

I would hope the second round brings a tight end. But I fear it will be a DT.

This is why I think Cimini thought Banks was the better call.

Glenn and Mougey have no track record for leading the draft process. The last first time Jets GM who drafted an OL…drafted Becton. Who didn’t get decent until he left the team.

So….yeah…it’s the Jets.

I have such draft PTSD I was terrified as Shadeur fell the Jets would do something stupid and trade up to take him last night. The Browns are the betting favorite to take him right now and if I'm a Browns fan, I don't know how you don't jump off a bridge.

That would affirm my opinion of Browns Management. They killed it with the trade and the selection of Graham. Sanders would cancel all of that out.

The Athletic has the Jets picking Milroe in the second round. To me that says they don’t have much confidence in Fields..and it means they really don’t have any confidence Jordan Travis will ever see the field. I get it…Fields has a short term deal..and even if he does ok, Milroe is a nice insurance policy for injury and could potentially be a long term solution.

But…I am still hoping TE…but thinking DL.

Edit…I just way they have the Jets picking TE Arroyo from Miami in the third round. If it shakes out that way…I could live with that.

Still hard to believe Aaron Glenn first 3 picks are on offense.

TE it is…I actually like this. But it does feel weird to have a legendary Dolphin’s son on the roster. I know his Dad was on the Jets for a year…but that was a joke. Drafting a CB in the third round is a bit curious. I would have thought someone on the DL, safety or QB. But I will trust Glenn’s judgement (he hasn’t earned it..but I am an irrational fan)

I can’t believe Sanders has dropped this far. Usually having a famous father in football would help. But…it feels like his lineage is hurting him here. Lots of teams (like the Jets) don’t want QB drama added to the equation.

The only team that needs a QB before the Jets in the 4th is Las Vegas. I’m back on the ledge begging they don’t take him.

Phew…they picked a WR. Although…while the dude they picked is fast…I guess he has issues with drops. I was thinking DT or backup QB

Since they don’t seem in a hurry to pick a QB…I gotta think they believe Travis has a chance to come back…or they just believe they don’t need to invest beyond Fields and Taylor.

If they do pick a QB..I like McCord from Cuse. Maybe I am biased by his performance shredding the UConn defense, but he seems like a talented guy who makes plays.

Overall I think they did a good job. I still think they should have taken a QB in later rounds and maybe should have looked for a DT.

I think the Giants did a great job…and the Patriots did a very good job also.

But I am happy with the OL and TE picks.
