I feel your pain. Sadly…looking back, I was generally optimistic entering each of those eras. Only to be disappointed. No offense, but a) you're not that realistic sometimes and b) you're not a Jets fan.
Put yourself in my shoes. Since 2000....
2000 – New Coach in Al Groh. 1 season. 9-7. Testeverde at QB.
2001-2005 – New Coach in Herm Edwards. 39-41. 2 years of Vinny, 3 years of Pennington and 1 year of Brooks Bollinger.
2006-2008 – New Coach in Eric Mangini. 23-25. 2 years Pennington, 1 year of Favre.
2009-2014 – New Coach in Rex Ryan. 46-50. 4 years of Sanchez, 2 years of Geno Smith.
2015-2018 – New Coach in Todd Bowles. 24-40. A mix of Fitzgerald, McCown and rookie Darnold.
2019-2020 – New Coach in Adam Gase. 23-25. He ruined poor Sam Darnold.
2021-2024 – New Coach in Robert Saleh. 20-36. Zach Wilson and one year+3 snaps of Rodgers.
24 seasons for a combined 184/224 (.451). Every coach is a former DC other than Gase. A litany of has been QB's, backups or high draft pick failures. 14 seasons without a playoff appearance.
Why should I be excited about Glenn, no QB, no good QB's in the Draft or FA and a moron owner?
I guess that’s part of being a fan…ignoring history and remaining optimistic.
