The Official 2025 NY Jets thread

The latest Kiper mock has Sanders dropping down to the Jets. I find that hard to believe. Every year as we get closer to the draft, QBs move higher and higher up the draft board. I think he will be gone…but to be honest, I am not sure he is the answer anyway.

Maybe it’s because I have PTSD from Rodgers, but I just don’t want a celebrity QB. I know that Glenn is a Parcells disciple and Parcells also was not a fan of QBs who were bigger than the team.

This may be an unfair judgement on Sanders…but because of his father, there will be additional pressure and attention on his development. But on the other hand..beggars can’t be choosers.
I am not sure I could watch Sanders as our qb. That might be the end of me. He’s the epitome of a guy who is down 24-0, throws a td and struts around like a peacock at his own personal greatness. Cam Newton Lite.

I have a feeling he will be suiting up in MetLife. Just not in green. Count your blessings. Dart will probably be better.

I agree…i don’t see how he drops to 7.

The knock on Dart is that he might be a system qb who benefitted from playing for Kiffin. But I like his personality and aggressiveness.

This was expected. The only way he could stay would be if he agreed to a restructured contract. Hopefully Lazard is next.

I liked Adams but I think the Jets are trying to change their culture and Wilson is their future.

But…this is a mostly financial decision.

You called it. The Rogers appeasement players are being shown the door.

Who would sign this guy? He has shown that unless Rodgers is his quarterback, he is an uproductive player. Also…the drops.

He had a good year with the Raiders and Carr. He won't get a big contract.

I am talking about Lazard..not Adams. I actually think Adams is still a quality reciever.
I don't know. WR's hit a wall pretty clearly whether it's injuries or Father Time. AJ Green, Deandre Hopkins, Julio Jones, etc, etc. When you factor in the price tag? I'm not sure there are a ton of teams banging down his door.

He was very good at the end of last year. He probably isn’t a 1 anymore…but he would be a great complement to strong 1.

LIstening to Cimini’s podcast today and he was talking with Charlie Weiss whose son is the OC at Ole Miss. Weiss was raving about Jaxson Dart and saying he is this year’s Bo Nix. A QB who people are ignoring who are actually deserving of a high draft pick.

Other than his physical attributes and the fact he has had like 40 starts at high major programs. he was raving about Dart having ”it”. This made me think back to what evaluators were saying about Zach WIlson. The knock on Zach was his limited starts, especially against top competition. The other knock on Zach was questionable leadership.

So maybe he is onto something with Dart. I also like that as opposed to Nix, Dart is only 21.

I wonder it the Jets will consider taking him at 7.

I’m starting to gravitate towards this one.

I don‘t hate this idea…but if they get Fields…I doubt they draft a QB at 7. You get Fields and you go with him, Taylor and Travis. Then draft a DT, OT or CB at 7 and maybe a QB like McCord in a later round.

If you don’t sign a veteran QB, you draft Dart at 7 and go with Taylor, Dart and Travis.

Either way it’s a crap shoot. And..the Jets usually don‘t win crap shoots.

So here’s a question.

Wilson played in college with Fields. Rodgers brought his guy Adams in last year.

Can Fields improve Wilson’s stats this year over last year with the chemistry and Wilson as the clear #1 option now?

IMO, The Jets will need a 2nd or 3rd Rd QB, and hope they hit on a diamond. Fields will probably need a strong running game and defense, which were not exactly strengths last season. I don't think he should have been benched in favor for Russell Wilson, but the Steelers obviously thought Wilson had more to offer than game manager.

I think Fields has a known ceiling, and it's not Franchise QB. Having a history with his college WR certainly helps and he could end up being a late bloomer like Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield, but they didn't have to come of age in the fish bowl of Greater New York City. What this does more than anything is not having to overreach for a QB at #7.

This may seem like a negative post, but I think it's a net positive for the Jets.

There are some scouts that think teams are sleeping on Milroe. He needs polish, but they think the talent is there. If I were running the Jets, I'd draft Milroe in round 2 and pair him with Fields who has similar skills. You've now got two guys and you can build an offense that either one can run. Add designed runs, RPOs, roll outs and take advantage of what they can do.

It's weird to me that the league forgets that Lamar needed a custom offense his first few years and couldn't really execute a standard passing offense until two years ago. Fields is a smart gamble with upside and Milroe is a great complement to that.

I think the run game is better than you think it might be. The OL is decent with Fashanu as a young foundation. Allen and Hall are as good a 1-2 as most teams can send out. And you shift to more of a RPO type offense with Fields' legs as a weapon they didn't have last year. I think they can actually be a really good running team this year (and Glenn saw Montgomery/Gibbs in Detroit do their thing).

O-Line health, score, subpar OC, and nutcase for a QB contributed to it, but the Jets run game was ranked #31 or 32 last year in terms of yards, attempts, and Yds/gm, and rushing TDs.

Detroit's o-line was darned good. The running game starts in the trenches, not the backfield.

Fields signs for 2 years, 40m total, 30m guaranteed. I have NO issues with one. Relatively cheap, high draft pedigree, hopefully a late bloomer and if he's not, move on after 2 years.
Love this deal for the Jets.

At worst, it's a reasonable bridge deal that wouldn't be hard to move on. At best, the Jets will field an offense similar to the Eagles and Fields develops into the guy. I wanted the Giants to acquire Fields prior to he was traded to Pittsburgh.

they need a solid number number two receiver to help Wilson, but having Fields as his qb has to be a good thing. Hopeully this makes Wilson want to commit long term.
