echoing the sentiments of others around nick mangold. I won't soapbox about it except to say I have included his family in my prayers this week.

I again did not watch the jets this weekend, as expected. Lived my sunday to the fullest, but was happy to catch highlights and see them say "screw it" and just go for ballsy playcalls and... actually get it. when you're 0-7, you have nothing left to lose. The template of risk-taking displayed this week by the Jets, is not a sustainable winning model, but for this past week, it was exactly what we needed, to inject something... anything... into a dying locker room. Good for them, good for these HUMANS.
laundry is just laundry, but underneath the helmets and jerseys are
people who care about a dream (not necessarily your city, and that's ok). That dream's feasibility is directly measured by team winning and individual impact, and I am familiar with the identity crises that affect these men, across all major pro sports... a family member of mine serves in chaplain ministry for a major pro sports team (won't share details) and shares very real and sad stories of these men's inner lives and concerns.
Any minute it could end, any minute you could get DFA'd or relegated to practice squad or G-League, or simply waived. And once you're released, the machine churns on, and you're left behind at the train station.
Sometimes, we need these nick mangold moments to remember life is gonna punch all of us hard, and it helps to remain thankful for everything we have, and continue doing so in spite of what we wish were true that never became true.
Enjoy your week, fellow Jetskies
