BB has released a statement that he isn’t interested in any NFL jobs.

I don't think they'd need to move up to #1. Maybe things will change, but Mendoza, Moore and Simpson are all probably better than any QB in last year's draft. A lot can still change in the standings too.![]()
2026 NFL mock draft: Miller's first-round pick predictions
How early could Ty Simpson go? What about Makai Lemon, David Bailey and Mansoor Delane? Let's project Round 1 of the 2026 draft -- plus two trades.www.espn.com
This is why you tank. If the Jets end up with the 4th pick, they will have to give up both first round picks and a 2027 2nd round pick to get to #1. I don’t disagree that if that’s what happens, they need to do it…but man that’s a painful trade off for a couple meaningless wins in an awful season.
Most don’t think that Moore will come out…so it’s really just 2 qbs with a lot of qb hungry teams drafting high. Tn or the giants will trade out if they are Top 3. Jets need to be in top 2 probably to ensure a shot at Mendoza or Simpson.I don't think they'd need to move up to #1. I see mixed opinions on this. He's easily a top 5 pick if he comes out. So why would he stay? It's not like Nix or Penix who had no buzz as juniors (or Daniels who came out of nowhere). It's not common for a player to pass that up.Most don’t think that Moore will come out…so it’s really just 2 qbs with a lot of qb hungry teams drafting high. It stinks because I want to root for wins. But desperate times…
I agree..it does seem odd…he can’t really improve his draft status. But…he may feel that he isn’t ready developmentally…and that being thrown into the starting lineup too early next year with a bad team, will stunt his growth.I see mixed opinions on this. another game where I am not sure whether to root for a win or loss. My head tells me that wins are not good for fixing the QB problem. My heart had me rooting for the win.
As I have said…this team is still playing hard for AG. They aren’t perfect, but they haven’t given up.
I had hoped they could draft a QB without having to give up the draft capital they got from trading Sauce and Quinnen. But…that looks tough now.
I will add that Metchie and Mitchell have looked decent. Credit to Mougey for the random trades he has made to pick up talent.
As a Pats fan:Heard the most accurate take yet on the Jets.
a) You're either mad they aren't tanking and this is costing us draft slots. You're not wrong.
b) You're happy because Glenn is creating a winning culture with a bad QB and weak offense. You're not wrong.
We can't win. The only way we win is they continue to win, gain momentum as a winning franchise and get the QB of our dreams...and we all know that can't happen.
I appreciate the outsiders perspective. I want to draft a qb and not have to give up other assets. Guess that isn’t happening. So….just get the qb they want not matter what it costs. As a Pats fan:
b) is only a problem if it means you can't solve QB in the draft. But Glenn has them winning without Sauce and Williams. So the Jets can just throw draft capital at the problem and move up. Maybe you hoped to have all those picks and just use one on QB, but you can just burn a few of them and still hope to solve the problem. Tennessee and NYG aren't taking QBs. Nor is Washington or probably Arizona (unless they trade Murray). They will want to trade back. Saints, Browns (maybe), Raiders & Jets need QBs and nobody has more draft capital to move up than you do.
Titans play the Browns next week. Jets have the Saints week 15. Lots of movement still possible.
I get it, but if the team doesn't otherwise suck, which is the premise of (b) right? If you retain Hall, Wilson, have loads of recent picks on the OL, the Jets still have assets enough to quickly upgrade the team where needed. I wish it was otherwise. Miami is in much worse shape.I appreciate the outsiders perspective. I want to draft a qb and not have to give up other assets. Guess that isn’t happening. So….just get the qb they want not matter what it costs.
I saw someone list out all the pros Mendoza brings with the con list being "Is a complete dork". It's funny because I almost feel that alone automatically dooms him in NY no matter what else he does.As predicted earlier in this thread…we have entered the Brady Cook era at QB. Adrian Martinez is QB2.
Speaking of QBs…I am starting to agree with Rich Cimini that if the Jets aren’t drafting in the top 3, they should just pick the best player with their pick, then maybe draft a qb with the later 1st round pick of the second round pick. Find a veteran qb like Mariota and hope that the QB pick shows promise. If it doesn’t work, then try again next year.
Unless of course they fall in love with a QB that they think is a sure fire bet. I will say, I saw an interview with Mendoza and the dude is a goofball. Not sure how that will work in NY.
Not really true. Jets fans loved the Darnold pick in the draft and were disappointed with how it turned out. But…Jets fans knew Darnold was put in an awful situation in NY….bad o line…no playmakers on offense. And most importantly, horrible coaching.Remember when Darnold was on the Jets and all their fans thought he sucked?
I was waiting to see what Miami would do, Ewers or Wilson, because Wilson figuring things about and becoming a quality starter in Miami would be yet another pain point for you Jets fans. Ewers got the start. Not really true. Jets fans loved the Darnold pick in the draft and were disappointed with how it turned out. Jets had a decision when they got the #2 pick in the draft and they picked Wilson and traded Darnold to the Panthers. I don’t think Jets fans cheered that the Darnold era was over, they just believed he would probably never work out in NY and it was time for a change.
Because they are the Jets, Wilson flamed out and Darnold went to on to be successful. I don’t think “all Jets fans thought he sucked”, but I do think most Jets fans were ok with the trade. I actually think most Jets fans are happy for Darnold’s success, he is a good dude who was in a bad situation.
I am not sure what it says when Wilson gets skipped over in Miami. Denver was also ok with him leaving. That’s 2 great offensive minds who have worked with Wilson and not given him a start.I was waiting to see what Miami would do, Ewers or Wilson, because Wilson figuring things about and becoming a quality starter in Miami would be yet another pain point for you Jets fans. I usually agree with Rich Cimini, but he called out the Jets for starting Cook this weekend. He says Taylor gives them the best chance to win, so he should play. Of course, either qb is going to lose this game. But I don’t get it…2 games left…close to having a top 4 pick…so you risk that and roll out the 36 yo QB?
I think the Jets are in full tank mode…and I am here for it. Now they just need the Raiders to beat the Giants.
I agree…but Cimini believes they have seen enough of Cook and they already know that he has no value as a starter of backup. That seemed a bit harsh to me. I don’t think he has been that bad.I disagree with his take. I’d rather see if Cook has any value as a backup going forward. To me that’s worth more than the very slight increase in the chance of winning a meaningless game.

Seems like giving him another shot helps them confirm his future..and helps them get a better draft pick.
Definitely the Jets are a worse watch, at least you had kids giving playing hard in that Fenway bowl in an outmatched game, 2 fake punts in a row lol why not just go for it. Common sense says you shouldn't fake a punt a 2nd time on the same drive. So…what is a worse watch….UConn playing without the Head coach, QB and assorted other players. Or…the Jets tanking hard against the Patriots?
I honestly don’t know the answer.
