The Official 2025 NY Jets thread

OK…I am really enjoying the Belichick to the Giants rumors. He can bring his son and all his buddies to run the team. He can be the GM and show us his great drafting skills again.

We need to make this happen so I can be distracted from the Jets disaster.

(truthfully…this smells like his agent reaching out to the Giants because he is desperate to get out of NC, but I would guess the Giants politely turned him down)
agreed; belichick to giants? that will never ever happen. if he gets hired, the giants deserve everything coming to them.

BB has released a statement that he isn’t interested in any NFL jobs.

This is why you tank. If the Jets end up with the 4th pick, they will have to give up both first round picks and a 2027 2nd round pick to get to #1. I don’t disagree that if that’s what happens, they need to do it…but man that’s a painful trade off for a couple meaningless wins in an awful season.

I don't think they'd need to move up to #1. Maybe things will change, but Mendoza, Moore and Simpson are all probably better than any QB in last year's draft. A lot can still change in the standings too.

Of the crappy teams, Tennessee and the Giants don't need a QB. I also think New Orleans lets Shough have next year as they stockpile talent until the 2027 draft. They're on a multi year rebuild.

Most don’t think that Moore will come out…so it’s really just 2 qbs with a lot of qb hungry teams drafting high. Tn or the giants will trade out if they are Top 3. Jets need to be in top 2 probably to ensure a shot at Mendoza or Simpson.

It stinks because I want to root for wins. But desperate times…

Well that was a close call. Another soul crushing fumble by Hall. He has amazing talent…but his two fumbles this year have completed killed all momentum the team had.

I like that Taylor is the qb now, because you can really see what Engstrand is trying to do on offense. With Fields you never knew if the scheme was adjusted for Fields limitations. THere shouldn’t have been any limitations on what he called for Taylor. That was a lot of running plays…too many in my opinion. Odd calls like a run on 3rd and 7. Hopefully he grows into the role…but I wonder if Glenn makes a change at the end of the year.

Oddly enough…the defense seems to be playing better after Gardner and Quinnen were traded. Especially the linebackers.

It’s amazing that the top recievers (after GW went down), weren’t on the team 3 weeks ago. But…I will say Metchie looks decent

Special teams play this year is amazing. Somehow, the Jets may have the best punter in the league. Of course that means they will probably let him go somewhere else.

Lastly…this team is still playing for Glenn…which is a good sign. They will probably pick off a couple more wins (unfortunately).

I see mixed opinions on this. He's easily a top 5 pick if he comes out. So why would he stay? It's not like Nix or Penix who had no buzz as juniors (or Daniels who came out of nowhere). It's not common for a player to pass that up.

I agree..it does seem odd…he can’t really improve his draft status. But…he may feel that he isn’t ready developmentally…and that being thrown into the starting lineup too early next year with a bad team, will stunt his growth.

Of course he will have the same issue next year…anyone picking in the top 5 will have issues. But…maybe he will be better prepared to deal with that with another year of experience.

Not sure what his logic is…but maybe if he gets consistent feedback that he will be top 5, he will decide to leave.

another game where I am not sure whether to root for a win or loss. My head tells me that wins are not good for fixing the QB problem. My heart had me rooting for the win.

As I have said…this team is still playing hard for AG. They aren’t perfect, but they haven’t given up.

I had hoped they could draft a QB without having to give up the draft capital they got from trading Sauce and Quinnen. But…that looks tough now.

I will add that Metchie and Mitchell have looked decent. Credit to Mougey for the random trades he has made to pick up talent.

Agree on all parts. They’re 3-2 in their last 5 while other teams are really struggling. No way they finish in the top 3-4 picks at this point.

Classic though, isn’t it? Just enough to give you hope….again.

Heard the most accurate take yet on the Jets.

a) You're either mad they aren't tanking and this is costing us draft slots. You're not wrong.
b) You're happy because Glenn is creating a winning culture with a bad QB and weak offense. You're not wrong.

We can't win. The only way we win is they continue to win, gain momentum as a winning franchise and get the QB of our dreams...and we all know that can't happen.

As a Pats fan:
b) is only a problem if it means you can't solve QB in the draft. But Glenn has them winning without Sauce and Williams. So the Jets can just throw draft capital at the problem and move up. Maybe you hoped to have all those picks and just use one on QB, but you can just burn a few of them and still hope to solve the problem. Tennessee and NYG aren't taking QBs. Nor is Washington or probably Arizona (unless they trade Murray). They will want to trade back. Saints, Browns (maybe), Raiders & Jets need QBs and nobody has more draft capital to move up than you do.

Titans play the Browns next week. Jets have the Saints week 15. Lots of movement still possible.

I appreciate the outsiders perspective. I want to draft a qb and not have to give up other assets. Guess that isn’t happening. So….just get the qb they want not matter what it costs.

I get it, but if the team doesn't otherwise suck, which is the premise of (b) right? If you retain Hall, Wilson, have loads of recent picks on the OL, the Jets still have assets enough to quickly upgrade the team where needed. I wish it was otherwise. Miami is in much worse shape.
